This place is really quirky in a great way. Buffet and salad bar, no menus, but the staff is over the top. I was in town for a meeting for my wife (traveling spouse) so I was on my own. My wife and I stopped at the Ayerco across the street to charge our electric car and grab lunch. We were originally hoping to grab Steak and Shake attached to the Ayerco. Like all restaurants after COVID they are experiencing staffing issues and are closed on Wednesday's so we decided to head across the street and try Saint's Ave Cafe. Needless to say there food was sub par. For a buffet at 1 o'clock (during lunch hours) I expected the food to be hot and fresh. The green beans and mashed potatoes were the only hot things we got. We've been traveling and I could NOT face another fast food meal. Just pulled in and took a chance based on the many cars in the lot. We were very pleased with the lunch buffet. Not high-end food, but darn delicious. More on the "comfort food" end of the scale. Modest salad bar offerings, but sufficient! Three soup options, the bean soup was a little salty but tasty. The main entries/sides were varied enough to fill us up! Quite a few dessert options included so we pulled away, filled up but so glad it was a more unique & different meal. Traveling back to Florida and stopped in for breakfast. Was so glad to finally find a place to eat on this road. The buffet was very good. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, red potatoes (very good). All of it had excellent flavor. You can surely get plenty to fill you up. The coffee was ok, just needs to be more bold flavor for us. We are coffee drinkers and like it hot, strong, and black. Amber was our waitress and she was GREAT. She was friendly and very attentive to our cups. We stopped on here on the way to Minnesota and just had a salad. So we knew a little about it. I have been stopping at the Saints Avenue Cafe for breakfast on my way to Iowa from Saint Louis for the last couple of months. The atmosphere is calm and inviting with friendly service. There is ample seating for the breakfast crowd, though there seems to be more evening traffic due to the hotel next door. The tables and silverware are always clean and the food is prepared quickly. Once I was asked if I preferred smoking or non-smoking, though there was only one other customer in the restaurant at the time and he was not smoking. I have never seen anyone smoking in the cafe, nor been able to smell residual smoke. I usually order the Saints breakfast (potatoes, sausage, bacon and 2 eggs) and have always been satisfied. They have a wide range of omelet, skillet and a la cart items to match any appetite. I have found the coffee at the Saints Avenue Cafe to be better than the average cup of joe at similar cafes. For lunch and dinner, customers have the option of ordering off the menu or selecting the buffet for as many servings as they desire. The buffet includes deserts. read more

I first found this place off of a highway sign while traveling cross country and am I glad I did! I was reluctant to stop at a sit down restaurant because I wanted to get back on the road quickly. Lucky for me it turned out to be a Buffett style place and not a normal one at that. The staff is very friendly and the buffet here is full of home cooking classics! There were many options. Full salad bar with all the fixings, Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, meatloaf, pork chops, potato salad, deviled eggs etc... Then if your still not extremely full like I was treat yourself to ice cream with all the toppings, pies, cakes, cookies, everything!! And for a great price. Plentiful buffet, well stocked with a variety of items. Even at 2:00 they continued to bring out fresh food and even rotated some of the offerings. They have a salad bar, that includes fresh fruit (pineapple & cantaloup), potato salad, and plenty of toppings for the fresh mixed lettuce. Entrees items included: BBQ Ribs, Fried Chicken, Ham and Teriyaki Chicken. Fried chicken had a very good flavor and prepared well. BBQ is sweet and fell of the bone. The Ham was grilled to perfection on a griddle and was my favorite 'flavor.' Side items included: Mac & Cheese; Mashed Potatoes & gravy, beef noodles, cabbage and corn. All of which seemed to come from a can and were warmed prior to being served on the salad bar. The Mac & cheese had been under the heat lamp for too long & as a result were dried out with a crust on the top layer. The rest of the items were average, but the gravy was pretty good. With the number of people coming and going after the normal lunch rush, it's safe to say the food remains fresh and the restaurant is frequented by locals and travelers alike. One item to share that we didn't order, the nice couple that sat near us shared a HUGE fish sandwich. They enjoyed it very much and still had enough left over to take home! This is the only buffet in the area, and is often busy as it is right by the highway. It is a good little place with country atmosphere. Their peak night is Friday when they serve fish. They also have an excellent Weekend brunch. The food is fine, and service is good. Their soft serve ice cream is really creamy and sweet. It is a standard salad, soup and meat bar with some baked desserts. They also have a full menu with burgers, steaks and other entrees. The restaurant is right off the Canton Missouri exit of state highway 61, so very convenient. This place is awesome! The food tastes homemade and there is a lot of it. First time here, came in on a Friday at 8:40pm didn't realize they closed at 9 the server was so rude, we were an inconvenience to her! Tried to say the grill wasn't on so we would order buffet but all we got was cheese fries, pancakes and a blt it took over 30 mins! The food here was not good. I had the chicken wrap with fries. The wrap itself was just a bunch of ingredients thrown together in a half-assed fashion. The chicken had no seasoning and was mushy. The fries were also unseasoned and therefore had no flavor. The buffet option was incredibly limited. The meats were all fried or deep fried and everything looked like it came from a can. Our first actual meal in a sit down establishment since the Covid-19 shut down and we ate at Avenue of Saints in Canton Mo. First off, it was very hot today and when we walked in the front door I knew we were off to a good start when I felt the cool air. We were greeted and sat quickly. The food was hot and fresh and the staff checked frequently to see if anything needed restocked. Our server was on her game. She checked often to see if we were ok and other staff even stopped to make sure from time to time as well. The food was delicious to put it mildly. Fried fish was so clean and seasoned perfect. Bourbon chicken was amazing, ribs were amazing and as usual, the fried chicken was incredible. The salad bar was nice and had very fresh selections. SO I give it a 10 out of 10. I have yet to find a listing for the one in Bg but I will go ahead and post here in hopes that the owner will happen upon this review, it is to my understanding this establishment is owned by the same person. Hire FRIENDLY staff!!! There is a waitress by the name of Rhonda that should not be working so close to the public! People go to a resteraunt to have a pleasant experience with family and friends. I wanted to start my mothers birthday off on the right foot treating her to a nice breakfast and because of the rude waitress I am sorry I chose Saints Ave Cafe! First off, I would like to say that I could feel her negative energy right from the start. In my mind I hoped that my mom wouldn't notice as she huffed and made obvious body language that suggested she just cannot stand her job or hates serving people. I will say that in the start she did try to fake politeness, but there is a negative echo to her voice and a harshness in her "smile" She seemed as though she tried to be nice to customers but it is obvious that it is forced. Example: She didn't give us straws and when I politely asked for some she rudely slapped them on the table in a pile. When it was time for the bill my mother noticed that the breakfast buffet cost more than the luch buffet and asked her about the charge. She informed us that drinks are charged to the bill even if you choose ice water instead of a beverage such as coffee, milk, orange juice ect. My mom had told her that if she would have been informed of the charge then she would have ordered a beverage. The waitress rudely snaps, "I asked you what you wanted to drink, It's not my problem your ordered ice water!" I just looked at her in shock. That was not a very proffesional way to handle a customer. I work in retail and the customer is always right. I dont care if your having a bad day or your underwear is on too tight, you are never rude to a customer. Finally, for the real kicker.. My mom had asked her for her name and she rudely snaps "it's Rhonda, what you want my last name too?" In the most offensive tone your ears can imagine. Then my mother exclaimed, "Happy birthday to me" and Rhonda rudely announced. Oh, it's your birthday! Do you want me to sing to you. The sarcasim was obvious as she started singing and clapping happy birthday and stopped and glared at my mom and said, "Now what's your name" By the tone of her voice and her body language, it seemed like a threat. My biggest regret is that I didn't speak up in effort to defend my mother. I just sat there in shock I am a rather passive person and I didn't want the horrible event to escalate. How can a person be so heartless to treat an elderly woman with such a stone cold attitude on what was suppose to be her special day? Three elderly women seated a table away from us heard the whole terrible thing and sypathized with my mother and wished her a happy birthday and said, that they too had a bad experience and won't be returning to the restaurant. This Cafe lost some potentially loyal customers. My family and friends will never be back. The pain in my mothers eyes remains in my memories and saddened my heart.
