Stopped in here after a nice, healthy walk on the Wild Pacific trail to check out the lighthouse and it was a perfect spot to stop in. The place was clean, there were plenty of seats, the restrooms were clean. Service was super-friendly and fast. I ordered a hot tea which was perfectly soothing after a cold day out hiking. Our party ordered a bunch of rolls, their stuffed mushrooms, spicy garlic edamame, a teriyaki chicken bento box, and spicy Korean ramen. All of their foods were very delicious. The mushrooms were PIPING hot but SO DELICIOUS. I still think about those mushrooms and it's been about 4 days now... The spicy edamame were indeed spicy. Very flavorful and spicy. The spicy ramen, I'm told, was not spicy after asking for it to be toned down a bit. Guess it was toned down more than just a bit. Flavor was still good, though. We were very happy with all the foods, the comfort, and the service. Great restaurant and I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for quality sushi in Ucluelet! read more

This was a nice place to stop while we were in Ucluelet. The menu had a lot of options, but we opted for the BC platter. It did not disappoint. My wife has always talked about going to a sushi place and having enough that you feel sated and we were able to say that we had a really great dinner. The miso soup was great, and it was a nice atmosphere as well. The service was great as well. The people working in the place were very nice and helpful and we had a pleasant evening there while we were visiting the West Coast. If we were back this way, I would consider stopping here again. read more

Stopped here for lunch in the town of Ucluelet BC. It was a little glitchy at first. There was so much COVID-19 signage in the entry that I was ready to turn around and leave. Luckily I saw people inside dining. We were greeted by the only server but he did not seat us for another almost ten minutes. I did not understand why because a total of two tables were occupied. Once we sat we were able to order. The server was jovial and working solo but he was efficient. Their menu is extensive but we settled on some favorites. I've had better sushi and I've certainly had worse. This sushi is definitely in the upper third. I noticed lots of clutter around the sushi bar and kitchen. They also have a kids play area inside. If they are still paranoid about COVID I would think that germ pit would be the first thing to go. The prices are on the high side. We paid over $125 Canadian for 4 rolls and two pieces of Nigiri sushi. I haven't been anywhere this trip where I paid less with the exception of Tim Horton's. read more

Very attentive staff work here. I was promptly served and the sides came very fast even before deciding on main courses. It's quite popular with locals and the first thing I hear from them is how the quality of the seafood is the highest. The ambiance is nice as booths have curtains. read more

This may not be the type of review that a sushi restaurant is looking for, but... Sake Sushi has more vegetarian options than just about any Japanese restaurant I have been to. Anywhere. They also have more vegetarian options than just about any (besides vegetarian) restaurants around. They even said they plan to add more options. My dinner companion and I ordered the teriyaki tofu and the tofu donburi. We are both fans of donburi (we make it at home), but have never seen a vegetarian version at a restaurant. It and the teriyaki were both quite tasty. They both have vegetables and an ample amount of tofu. The staff are very friendly and quite efficient. The food came out really quickly. They have only been open for a few months, but they really seem to have it together. I hope Sake Sushi is around for a long time! read more

Serviceable sushi in Ucluelet! We got takeout, including agedashi tofu, tempura, a roll/nigiri combo, and dynamite roll. Fish seemed fresh. California roll had too much mayo and hardly any avocado - disappointing. Shrimp tempura was good but the veggie tempura and agedashi tofu were not great. Tofu exterior was really hard, never seen that before. Miso soup was average. Overall a decent meal but I won't rush back, especially considering the higher than average cost. read more

And so, for future reference: the menu's "toro" means some kind of white tuna, "crab" means "imitation crab", "California" means "mainly mayonnaise", and "unagi" means "unagi-looking but with more fat attached than you are probably comfortable with". read more

I had the chicken teriyaki bento box lunch with 4 pieces sushi (2 tuna, 2 salmon) - price around $20. This may seem a bit pricy for a bento box, but it was totally worth it. The sushi was excellent - large slices of very tender fish, and super fresh! One tiny complaint - the california roll had a bit too much mayo. But the entire meal was extremely generous - I couldn't finish it, and the very attentive and friendly waitress packed up the leftovers in a box. Good hot green tea was served throughout the meal - thank you! It was very close to actually being in Japan - and I've been there 5 times. Highly recommended - a very welcome addition to the Ucluelet/Tofino dining out experience. (ignore what people say about the plain restaurant decor - in outdoorzie Tofino does this really matter - and once I started eating I didn't care - everything was immaculately clean and comfortable). read more
