I found this place quite unique. Had to go down a somewhat steep ramp onto a literal float house. Service was very friendly. The staff took time to refill the gas heater behind us so we would be warm. The food was pretty good. I had the veggie burger and my husband had the pulled pork tacos. Both were tasty. read more

This was an absolute gem we found in ucluelet ! I was truly amazed by the food quality and service at this restaurant. All though there was a bit of a wait it was totally worth it! The highlight of this meal was definitely anything that included the beer battered fish - in taco form and the fish and chips! The fish taco was one of the best ones I've tried in all of BC by far! The candied salmon fettuccine is also a must try. Drinks and beers were served in ice chilled glasses and was perfect to beat the summer heat with. Overall, this was a great experience. We had to wait for seating, but once we were sat down the service was quick and pleasant. We sat right by the water, which was lovely. I started my meal with the "award-winning" seafood chowder, and it did not disappoint. For my main, I had the two-piece cod with a Caesar salad. My husband had the ribs, and asked them to prepare them without sauce, only using a dry rub. They were happy to comply. My spouse & I went to the Float house tonight expecting great food from the reviews we had read. Such a disappointment. My dish was the feature of the night. The description sounded scrumptious but the fish pieces were tiny & unrecognizable. Couldn't find the clams, there were 2 maybe 3 overcooked scrimp. Definitely not a $50 meal. My husband's was hardly better. The lemon dill rockfish was rubbery & the dill overpowered the fish. And his Caesar salad was swimming in dressing. Not good!! All in all a disappointment read more

We shrines at 7:00 to find about 15 people in line and it took about 25 min to be seated (more if we had insisted on siting outside). Waitress was friendly but there was a general feeling of rush in the air as the staff tried to get people in and out efficiently. The fish chowder was excellent. A restaurant on the water (literally floating), with both outdoor and indoor seating, this is a popular dinner spot in the summer - with potentially long waits for a table. The reason is clear - it's probably the best restaurant in Ucluelet ... it's not too fancy, but the food and drinks are good, the atmosphere for the outdoor tables is fabulous, and it doesn't have a lot of competition. We liked the lamb burger, loved the ribs (good quantity), liked the salads, and loved some of the local drinks. We'll be back the next time we're in town. read more

My husband and I are in Ucluelet for our honeymoon and a friend recommended Floathouse to us for their ribs. Fortunately, they have a patio so we were able to dine 'in' despite COVID restrictions. We started with their pan seared prawns in a white wine garlic sauce. These were delicious and very well priced- we got 10 large sized prawns and a slice of garlic toast for $14.50. For our entrees we ordered a full rack of ribs and the fish and chips to share between the two of us. While the ribs were very flavourful, smothered in a delicious barbecue sauce, unfortunately they were not very hot. The Cesar salad side was perfection- even had anchovies which you don't see very often. The fish and chips were nearly perfect- the batter on the fish was super crispy and the fish itself was the texture it should be- I do think the batter could use some seasoning though. The fries were perfectly seasoned and my husband loved the coleslaw which is saying something because he generally does not ever like coleslaw. For our drinks, we had the floathouse hard lemonade which was super tasty- we each ordered two. Service was mediocre. We had to flag down our Waitress or another one whenever we needed something. But overall, the food and cocktails are worth going back for. read more

We loved this place. Great food. Atmosphere was perfect being on the docks. They are thoughtful enough to have heaters scattered about and blankets on your chair as we ate in the outdoor section. Service was really good, but the food was disappointing. Ordered a blackened Halibut which was not blackened with the correct spices...think they mixed up my order. In any case they also killed (over cooked it) the fish too which was sad as to kill a halibut that size is a crime in itself. Fries were cooked perfect but lacked in any flavor. read more

This is a great tourist location in Ucluelet as it is situated right on the water...literally floating. Very nice atmosphere. Both indoor and outdoor seating was good. The food was delicious, although we did wait about 50 minutes to receive our dinner. Good thing the beers held us over until then! I felt compelled to give this cute little floating restaurant five stars for a number of reasons, but especially because I finally found the coastal dining experience I was hoping for while taking in the surfing and scenery in Tofino/Ucluelet. This place is sort of tucked in behind the main street, on the boar docks, and we only found out about it because the locals are the ones who recommended it. The food was yummy - seafood chowder, fish and chips, and other types of seafood are the main staple of the menu, but there was also chicken burgers, steak, etc. We had a delicious crab burger that I THOROUGHLY enjoyed. With homemade coleslaw! And while the food was definitely well priced and definitely enjoyable, it was the experience of dining here that I really enjoyed. Quietly floating on the water, with the moon's reflection jumping off the water while we ate, the SUPER friendly and down-to-earth staff ensured we were cozy with blankets and drinks. It is rare to have such warm and friendly service...but I suppose they do live in a gorgeous place as this, so how can you not be? read more

Everyone loved their food except me ... cheese steak - amazing... burger was "delish" with exceptionally good bbq sauce... snapper burger was "really good"... and for me the Warm Goat cheese salad was honestly shit. I don't know how that was $16 because a. describing that as artisan greens is a MAJOR stretch, the goat cheese ball - while it seems like it would be good ummmm no hot goat cheese is not a thing (warm yes, hot deep fried NO!!!), lemon dill balsamic dressing - was that from a bottle at CoOp? Not sure. The candied walnuts were YUM for sure, but they could not save this poor excuse for a salad. I've eaten here before and it was great so maybe this is just a menu glitch. Before you think it - the waitress even ^recommended^ the salad so it's not like I am just foolish for ordering salad at a fish place. She SAID it was one of her favorite things to order. read more

Four of us visited this restaurant last night. The ambiance was great, nestled on a jetty on a Marina. The staff was very accommodating and moved us to tables we requested. It seemed that they were under-staffed because it took approximately 1 hour to receive our dinner which was an uncomplicated 4 burgers and fries. What was worse, was that patrons at tables who arrived after we did, got served long before us. The food, when it eventually came, was delicious. Try the walnut and cranberry beef burger, loaded with walnuts, devoid of cranberries which I really did not miss. read more

It's summer 2015. The height of tourist season on Vancouver Island. You arrive at a recommended restaurant on a weeknight to find a line, but it is expected. What isn't is a manager running around adding to the chaos of the big crowd and large demand. Furthermore what you do not expect is him telling you that you will be sat within "x" amount of minutes, but he doesn't know if they will have enough food to serve you. We left and ate at the very delicious and similar priced Float Lounge. Here's the thing; as someone who has worked numerous years in the restaurant industry, it does not take a rocket scientist to know that during tourist season more people will come to your restaurant; meaning you should be calculating table turnovers and number of customers. It wasn't a new restaurant, but the staff sure acted like it was their first night in business. Was super disappointed as were others, especially with limited restaurants in Ucluelet. Had the option of going back the next two nights but chose to cook in our rental instead. At least we knew that way we would have food to serve... read more

My grandparents and my cousins and I went here expecting a nice dinner to end our last day of our trip, but unfortunately, all we did was end up leaving. We were there on July 23, 2015 at around 6:30 and there was a man who was our waiter who treated us terribly. There were 5 of us and there were only 4 people tables and he was very rude to us saying "what you see is what you get" so, we pulled up a chair to the end of the table. Then, the next round of being treated terribly came along when my grandma asked for a children's menu for my cousins and he said "no, one size fits all, this isn't Denny's or Chuckee-Cheese." By that time, both my grandma and I exchange looks of disappointment in the poor service. Then, my grandpa came as he was coming late and I ran out to get him but accidentally ran in front of the waiter as he was carrying plates and he yelled "whoa" about five times and when I finally looked back at him, he shot me a look of utter disgust. I don't care who this man is or where he works or what he does, he does not treat people like this, especially his customers. He also wasn't wearing a uniform and he looked very unkempt.
