Fried prawns and fish and chips
    Marco L.

Very nice spot for a quick meal in town, ambiance is lively and outdoor sitting only, has a very casual feel which matches the food. Service was friendly and quite fast The fish was very fresh, delicious and flaky with a great fried crust. Only downside is the fish portion could be a bit bigger since its only 1 piece. The highlight of the meal were the fried prawns though, good portion size, perfectly cooked and so fresh. Next time I'm in tofino this is what I'm getting.

A well recognized spot in the neighbourhood that delivered the cravings we had for fish and chips. I don't think it was absolutely mind blowing but I found it was a nice mid afternoon pick me up. During my time in Tofino, I found most items on all menus (at a number of restaurants) quite heavily seasoned with salt-- and this was no exception. Perhaps it's just the vibe there but I would've opted for no salt next time. COVID protocols: this place is all outdoors, I found it helpful that you couldn't sit and take a table until you had a number for your order. I enjoyed the: - Halibut 5/5 and chips 3/5 (RE: salt) - Go coconuts for coconut prawns 4/5 : I really enjoyed the plantain chips and the prawns felt very light with the coconut batter

Lovely roadside fish n chips spot. Order first then go to your assigned table (or wait for your take out). The shrimp in the coconut shrimp and chips were large and cooked perfectly. The lingcod fish and chips were tasty too. We found it amusing that the vinegars on the tables were in spray bottles, although it does help control the portion.

Great quick bite place in Tofino! Satisfies rainy day cravings.definitely recommend to anyone, its simple yet filling

We had the fish and chips. Two with poutine and one with the coleslaw.

Great fish at a reasonable price. We had the fish and chips, two with poutine and the other with coleslaw. The coleslaw was made with an apple cider vinegar dressing which was just ok. I'd prefer mayonnaise. The poutine was also just OK. Our meals included a fried dill pickle which none of us ate. It was too thick and very watery. It would probably be better if they deep-fried it in a spear shape instead. The ambiance was what you would expect from a roadside self-serve eatery . Seating was limited but I suspect they have a lot of take out customers. We'll be back!

Lactose free mango cheesecake ice cream!
    Rosey L.

Saw a sign for lactose-free soft serve ice cream and had to try it! They have like 15 different flavors you can choose from, and the cashier recommended mango cheesecake. Overwhelmed by decision fatigue, I went with mango cheesecake and was not disappointed! My parents also tried the clam and seafood chowder, that came with a fried dough thing. They LOVED it! Couldn't take a picture because they scarfed it down immediately. Would recommend this cute fast casual food joint!

Super average fish for what other options you can get in Tofino. Works in a pinch but it's not really worth going back.

A quaint small town, we decided for a relaxed upscale comfort food meal. Although a fairly spread out restaurant it is advised to go early and have a reservation. Wait staff were friendly and did great getting dishes off the table waiting for the next course. Ordering a couple of local Pilsners from the Hoyne Brewing company, we started with a great fresh Shelter salad and half dozen pristine oysters; so fresh and creamy! Main course were side-striped shrimp and mussel fettuccine. On recommendation from our waiter I opted for the Fish and Chips and was not disappointed by the light batter fried Cod and the tasty mound of real cut fries. A filling excellent meal and evening!

While we didn't get a dining room table, the bar seating turned out to be a great experience. The bartender was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed trying a few beer tastings and ordered some local Tofino beers. It was a fun way to discover some local beers. The highlight was the SHELTER Beef Burger and fries. The burger had the perfect flavour, and the fries were a great match. It was a satisfying meal after exploring Tofino. Tofino is a popular tourist destination, reservations are highly recommended if you want a specific dinner time and a comfortable dining room seat. Walk-ins are still accepted, but you may need to wait for a table or dine later in the evening, sometimes after 8pm. Overall, Shelter is a highly recommended stop in Tofino. Great drinks, delicious food, and excellent service. We just wish we could have enjoyed the same great meal in a more comfortable dinner seat! Food: 4/5 Should Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! The entire place felt elevated but cozy - our table was upstairs under beautiful wooden beams and big windows overlooking the town. The vibe was lively but not too loud on a Tuesday evening. Service started out wonderfully and we regularly received fresh table settings between courses, however we had a switch in waitstaff later in the meal and it was incredibly slow at the end. No big deal since we weren't in a rush but something to note that it could be hit or miss. The food, on the other hand, was 100% on point. We ordered the potato crusted oyster appetizer and I was blown away - innovative and delicious. For my main, I got the halibut in a curry sauce that was just perfection. My friends tried the sea board, seaweed salad, and scallop gratin, and loved all of it. This meal was a highlight of our vacation.

We came for dinner and the view of Cox Bay is unbelievable! We got to watch the sunset and it was incredible. Too bad they don't have an outdoor patio but considering the rain, wind, and storm weather in Tofino, there's probably a reason why. Decor and ambiance is cozy, elegant, airy, and timeless elegance. Service here is attentive and warm. We ordered the house made bread to start (small comes with 6 pieces) with sourdough and charred leek butter. This was really homey and comforting. I ordered the Shrimp Carbonara for my entree and my partner got the Crispy Chicken sandwich. The shrimp carbonara take on the dish is served with udon noodles, shrimp, smoked black cod, butternut squash and topped with soft egg in a miso butter, garlic, chili, and parmesan sauce. The dish was hearty, filling, flavourful, yet not too heavy. It really hit the spot and I enjoyed it quite a bit. My partner enjoyed his huge Crispy Chicken sandwich and was thrilled that they had enough hot sauce on the chicken for some kick. Come for the views, food, or service - you can't go wrong. They also currently have a special multi-course for under $50/person from 5pm to 6pm.
