Very disappointing experience. I confirmed ahead of time that they work with children, but the visit was not handled in a child-friendly way. The $80 consultation lasted under 5 minutes, and the acupuncture session had to be stopped almost immediately because my child became uncomfortable. Despite this, I was charged the full $165 and told I would need to pay again to try another session. After months of follow-up (and legal involvement), they issued a refund of $158.40 -- withholding $6.60. It's not about the $6.60 -- it's about what that decision says. After everything, they still chose not to resolve it fully. That alone tells you what to expect. I would not recommend. read more

Came here after I did my research to find a reputable and licensed acupuncture place near me. Since this place is located in Folsom, CA about 15 minutes from my home, I decided to give them a try since my right leg and back was constantly aching. Mind you, this place uses Japanese style of acupuncture instead of Chinese style and I found it quite refreshing. It was gentle and therapeutic. 1st visit: Because it was my first visit here, the licensed acupuncturist Emiko performed evaluation on my pressure points, finding where the inflammation is occurring, and placing small precise needles on them. After the appointment, I regained some mobility from my knee and the stiffness of my back dissipated. 2nd visit: Although I regained some mobility, I wanted to rid of myself the pain my knee has been causing so I came back for another round of treatment. I had trouble bending and twisting, so Emiko treated both my back and my knee. After the appointment, both my knee and back feel pretty great. My 3rd appointment is scheduled and I'm wondering how my leg and back would feel after 7 days of continual physical work. read more

Emiko is a wonderful acupuncturist and has helped tremendously improve my health. I have had 8+ acupuncturists and she is right there at the top. In Japanese acupuncture the needles don't go nearly as deep as the Chinese version, thus very little discomfort and pain. Yet, just as effective and a huge plus. She is very caring, dedicated to her work, professional, grounded, present, respectful, and great bedside manner. The office, rooms and even the bathroom are beautifully decorated. I chose to go with this location after doing alot of research and decided it was worth the drive from Elk Grove. I had had lower back pain for about 5 months and I couldn't figure out what from. I had a baby almost a year ago so I figured it was from all the bending and picking up as well as hunching over while nursing. My first experience with Japanese Acupuncture was in Santa Fe, NM, after a long bout of serious vertigo. Previously, I had experienced different styles of Chinese Acupuncture in CA but did not know that the Japanese culture had refined this method of healing with finer needles, shallower penetration and less painful invasion. It was clear at that time, that Japanese Acupuncture curtailed the symptoms of vertigo over a period of 6 sessions. Not only was it gentler, I felt relief after every appointment. In contrast, the Chinese method left me feeling more nauseous and less relieved over fewer sessions. Though all the Santa Fe doctors were reputable, my body responded more positively to the Japanese method without question. I also believe the energy of the practitioner, coupled with my normally healthy body and lifestyle influenced my chances of a quicker recovery. Since being back in CA at sea level, I have not had any recurring vertigo. I have seen Dr. Okabe for a period of 4 months and have chosen to use her method of Japanese Acupuncture for preventive measures in keeping me stable and centered, both physically and emotionally. Dr. Okabe can identify any slight weakness in my body by reading the pulses and is quick to bring them into balance, noticing how rapidly I respond to her treatment within a matter of minutes. Dr. Okabe is a compassionate, caring and highly skilled practitioner. I recommend her services without hesitation. I would even venture to say to someone who has never experienced acupuncture before: try the Japanese style before the more common Chinese methods, especially if one is sensitive. My teenage daughter is extremely sensitive and cannot endure a traditional Chinese acupuncture treatment, even though that was the only thing that has helped her many medical problems (western medicine gave up a long time ago). Emiko is absolutely amazing. I came In for the six sessions for smoking cessation after hearing about a friend who quit after four sessions. She was running a special that was cheaper priced then a place I had looked into in Sacramento and was more convenient as it was close to my work. She took a compressive medical history the first session and recommended I attend twice per week. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and I was sold. She would do a front treatment followed by a back treatment and left teeny pins attached to bandaids in my ear to prolong the treatment. I stopped smoking three days after the first treatment (even those three days I was smoking a lot less then normal). It's been five weeks and I remain cigarette free!! It was absolutely painless, Emiko made me feel very comfortable and would check in with me and how I was doing every session (including inquiring about other ailments) and her shop is very clean and relaxing. I am a believer now in acupuncture. I was hesitant to go because I could not understand how a little pin could relieve my pain. I was desperate so I thought it's worth the risk of losing a few dollars if it does not work. I called and she fit me in the same day. I went in for back and foot pain. After one session I was the most relaxed I have ever been. The pain in my feet is completely gone. The pain in my neck is very reduced but she told me it would take 3 sessions. It is the cost of a massage but has relaxed me and relieved pain better than any massage I have ever gotten. I tried to go to Costco after my session and found myself pretty out of it. I suggest after your session that you are able to go home and enjoy being relaxed. I will be returning. She is amazing! Makes you feel very comfortable and at ease. She goes over your health history and seems to be very through. I would highly recommend her. read more
