    Spicy Tuna Cake -
Deep-fried sushi rice topped with avocado slices, spicy tuna, masago and sauce.

Sakura is a good place for a variety of dishes. My son and I love sushi, while my wife and oldest son prefer chicken and noodle dishes. This is a good place to satisfy everyone. BUT, the reason for this review is the appetizer in the picture. The Spicy Tuna Cake is honestly one of the best things I've ever tried at a sushi place. I'm not a fan of fried sushi, but this one is incredible. The richness of the tuna and the super delicate tempura around the rice, with the perfect balance of veggie and sauce - wow! I liked the rolls, Baked Snow is a good choice. But it's worth coming just for this appetizer dish.

This place is a great little spot for lunch or dinner. Great quality and good portions. The food is prepared well and has good flavorful tastes to it all. Priced very reasonably for what you're getting.

We came up from NW Ark to spend the day in Carthage exploring. On our way home, husband wanted Japanese so we searched Yelp for the best rates and here we are. I ordered a dinner Bento box while husband ordered scallops from the grill. Miso soup seemed watered down if I compare to the soups we get at home. Even the Ginger dressing on our salads seemed watered down. Flavors were just light not strong and bold. Enjoyed the shrimp dumplings and most of my Bento box foods. Husband also enjoyed his meal. Waitress was super nice and helpful. The place has a nice relaxed vibe with some nice lighting and soft decor.

A best kept secret in my opinion! Huge sushi menu and if you're not a sushi fan I recommend the Razorback, which is hot & cooked with fish inside. Sushi for non sushi people. But the menu is extensive so everyone should be able to find something I think! The staff is nice and it's a fun vibe. Not too fancy but a little bit of charm. It's become a regular for us!

Had a work trip to Joplin and was treated to lunch at Sakura. We had a party of 6 and showed up right at lunchtime, but they were easily able to accommodate us. Our server was awesome, very friendly and so knowledgeable about their food. She made several suggestions to people in my party and they loved what they received. I knew what I was looking for and found it in the razorback Roll, which was spicy tuna, avocado, and cream cheese - deep fried. It was covered in sweet eel sauce and a spicy mayo and was exactly what I wanted. It was fresh and delicious. I went for a traditional California roll as my second choice and it was everything you'd expect. I'm not in Joplin very often, but I would definitely come back next time I'm in town.

Service was awesome, miso soup and lava roll were delicious. Nice clean restaurant. Would recommend that you stop and check them out.

Hands down, best sushi in town! Love their bento boxes, love their rolls, heck I even love their salads (weird flex, but true). Ambiance is casual and warm. Staff is friendly and chill. I'm always excited when I get to eat here!

This is the second time I've written a review for Sakura, for some reason my reviews keep disappearing after a year or so. Anyway, this is a surprising and refreshingly good restaurant that would find itself at home in any major city. Surprising for the quality, variety and subtle sophisticated recipes that you just don't expert to find in a town in the middle of the Midwest Four corners area. Although the owner and chef is Korean, the dishes are focused on Japanese themes with a nice menu of sushi, cooked and traditional, well prepared and presented like works of art. Bento box style meals where you pick and choose items and Japanese grilled entrees and other traditional dishes. The appetizer miso soup served with nearly all meals reminds me of miso I had in various places in Tokyo, in essence authentic. There is a small Asian ginger salad which is also included, basic but a great dressing. One of my favorite dishes is the grilled short ribs, although clearly a unique style of flavors that remind me of Sukiyaki a traditional Japanese dish and several other recipes also remind me of this Japanese staple. That works because Sukiyaki is not a specific standard recipe, its more about putting a variety of fresh vegetables and meats and cooking them together in a broth either yourself or by a server table side. The short ribs are rich and will remind you of great grilling or BBQ with a more Teriyaki style and a bit of saltiness and sweetness. Everything we have tired which is about half the menu has been great and again surprising. This is not a Benny Hanna, it's not a Japanese entertainment grill. Its a more romantic Asian themed sit down restaurant. It's worthwhile t call for reservations as they can get busy. They do take-out but I recommend eating there. The Sushi dishes are always fresh and generous and so good that several members of my family or other guests out with us who say they don't like Sushi or have never tried it were surprised how much they like it! Right now it seems staff is a little on the light side and that may be because of social distancing but the wait time is a bit longer than in the past. Also I'd think twice about bring small kids, they would be welcome I'm sure but its not a big place and there are only a couple of tables for larger groups or families. This is a great place for date night as a couple or foursome. Larger groups are accommodated but it could take longer for service and since its more adult focused to me anyway, other guests may frown on noisy kids who struggle to stay at the table for the longer wait. There is also a small bar but I don't drink so I can't really say if its a good bar or not. We have always had good, again if somewhat slow on certain visits but of the dozen or more times we have gone in we are always pleased with the food and quality of service. If he has time the Woner may come around and check on you as well which is always nice and he clearly cares that you are happy and satisfied.

This was our first time and it was pleasantly very good. Nice decor and appropriate temperature. I hate going into freezing cold restaurants. The menu has a great variety of choices. Good for either lunch or dinner. The service was exceptional and the food was tasty and not unreasonably priced. We will be back.

Excellent menu with quality food. I enjoy the bento boxes. They seem to be short of staff but the wait staff is pleasant.

That personal connection aside, Crabby's delivers an experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. It does lean towards being a bit more expensive, but the quality of the food and the care in presentation make it worth the splurge. I ordered the gnocchi marsala with chicken, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Pillowy gnocchi paired with a rich, savory sauce that lingered beautifully. Mrs. K. chose the salmon pancetta, which arrived as a work of art on the plate, perfectly cooked and elegantly presented. She enjoyed it very much, savoring each bite. And of course, we couldn't resist ending the evening with a crème brûlée: creamy, infused with vanilla, and topped with that satisfying caramelized crust that cracks just right under the spoon. Crabby's is the kind of place where you go not just to eat, but to celebrate, to linger, and to enjoy the finer side of dining in Joplin. It's polished without being pretentious.
