This place gets a lot of hype, and honestly, it's pretty good. Smashburger is legit. The problem is this place is just not the place to go in the summer. It has a small little wall AC unit that in no way comes close to keeping up with demand, even if you're the only one there. Get a room full of people plus the kitchen going and it's uncomfortably hot. 4-5 stars for the food. 2 stars for the summer vibe. read more

I let Mrs. K. do the searching for tonight's dinner and it was a winner. She picked Blackstone to have dinner with our daughter and her roommate. We were warmly welcomed and brought to a table. Our waiter was attentive at taking orders, answering questions and refilling drinks. We started with the charcuterie tray which was a nice mix of cheeses and meats and pickles. Plenty for the carnivores and the vegetarians at the table. My wife had the fish and chips. A big portion of crispy fish and half of it came home. I chose the brisket burger which was a big patty and a thick slice of brisket, upgrading to the mac & cheese for a side. With the big appetizer, half of this also came home and was the next day's lunch. Blackstone has a nice selection of beers and other drinks. We had no trouble picking some delightful frosty adult beverages and enjoyed our evening here. Great service, not too expensive, a lovely meal. I'd return to Blackstone Gastropub! The "manager" came outside and yelled at a table near us because they sent their drink back. It was insane! I have never seen anything like it. We asked the server and he said she is friends with the owner/kind of a part owner. Blackstone Gastropub in Joplin, been there a few times. However tonight the waiter had excellent service however, we ordered a drink that was not so great. We politely if they could try to adjust the drink. When it came back it basically tasted the same... this time we sent it back and asked for it to be taken off the ticket. The waiter obliged us. The next thing we know some lady named Maddi came out and very rudely asked why we sent it back. Priscilla was trying to answer and Maddi cut her off mid sentence and said she basically didnt have time to listen. The waiter apologized for the bartender who claimed to be an owner of the establishment. I asked to talk to the manager. The same lady Maddi came out and wanted to know what the issue was. Once again we were met with same rude, loud outburst. We were traveling through Joplin and stopped here for lunch based on Yelp reviews and shame on me for not taking more pics of our food! Presentation was perfect and made me think I was some place way more expensive. Levi was our server and he was great, funny, a good salesman, and all his recommendations were on point. We had the salmon, Ozark Sandwich and the Siracha Smash Burger. All had great combinations of flavor and were well balanced. Before we could finish, she cut us off to give us another snarky comment about how it's winter and it's slow and they close early. Not a nice lady at all. Blackstone Gastropub is a gem of a restaurant. We stopped by for lunch yesterday and what a great experience. We were greeted at the door by CJ who turned out to be our server and she was great. We started off with the Candied Pork Belly. The combination of the pork belly, peach ginger jam and the tang of the brussels sprout slaw was like a happy dance on the tongue. My husband had the Andy Reid with a side of shaved and fried brussels sprouts. Loved them both. I had the fried cod sandwich. The cod was lightly beer battered and it all came together with the lettuce, tomato, diced pickle and the star the homemade remoulade sauce. CJ told us the sauces are homemade and you can tell they're that good. We finished our meal with the smoked fruit cobbler with apples and peaches. I never thought of the combination of apples and peaches together, but it works. We will be back on our next visit to Joplin. read more

On way from STL to Tulsa. I always try to find great food on road trips. Read many positive reviews about this place so decided to stop with family of four. 3pm on a Tuesday was great time as not busy at all. Seated right away. VERY friendly team of folks working there. Food was incredible. Got the fondue to start. **Chefs kiss** Entrees ordered = Fat Mac, The Ozark, Caesar chicken salad, and the sandwich of the month which was a smoked jalapeño meatloaf bacon wrapped. Everything was delicious. I am a fool to have ordered a salad as an entree. I finished off some burnt ends from the Ozark as my son was too full. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The artwork is amazing. Excellent food! We had pork belly with broccoli slaw as an appetizer which was melt in your mouth with a light bourbon glaze that left a great mouth feel. For entree my husband and I both ordered burnt ends, sautéed vegetables, su gratin potatoes served in a cast iron skillet plus a house salad and Caesar salad. Oh forgot the pork belly had a peach ginger jam as dipping sauce which was so good my husband requested more for his salad dressing. Not one item was a disappointment. EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT. Including the service by Liv and the other employees were smiling moving fast and happy to help. A great dining experience. Delicious! My husband LOVED the mussels, didn't get a pic of those! The pimento cheese and onion jam smash burger was great but definitely could have used an entire side of the pimento cheese. The Naanchos sounded so interesting, we're VERY crisp and I'm not personally big on BBQ but overall it was tasty. Even the Caesar salad was delicious and we were a party of 10 - and everyone made alterations to their meals they were very accommodating. The staff was so sweet and every one of us enjoyed our food! I always look at Yelp reviews when I'm in a city I'm not familiar with. Blackstone had great reviews, so we stopped by after a baseball game before driving home. The first table they sat us at had ketchup and something else sticky all over the floor where our feet were. We had to move to another table. The booths were pretty tight, so we put a chair at the end and they told us we couldn't due to fire code. Ok, but it didn't make for a comfortable seating situation. We made it work. The food was very good (which is why they have a 3-start review), but the service wasn't great. We had to chase down our server several times. Finally, the manager jumped in (I think she was also bartending), and she was amazing. The food is great, but the service just needs some work. read more

I have, for about 15 years, been looking for wings in this area that are as good as what I find on the East Coast- until today I was disappointed time & time again.
