Picanha with Salado Olive Oil Rosemary Olive Oil

I will be coming back to this olive oil and balsamic shop, such a HUGE variety of infused flavors. I cook at home most of the time and added the Rosemary Olive Oil to my picanha. Trying Roasted Chili next. Every cooks dream.

The tasting begins with a tray of olive oils and fresh bread. The host walks you through each olive oil and balsamic vinegar, explaining their flavors, differences, and best uses. I had no idea there were so many varieties of olive oil! It was such a fun and informative experience!

Our first time making the drive out to Texas Hill Country Olive Co came on a Saturday afternoon!…read more It is definitely off the beaten path, and took us just about 45 mins to arrive from Austin. We can specifically for the 2pm curated olive Oil tasting, and we had somewhat of a mixed experience. The tasting started a bit late, and there wasn't much direction or acknowledgment of our crew waiting around unsure of where to go or what to do. Once we were finally invited into the tasting room, they were missing a couple of place settings, so we had to wait while more were prepared. The tasting itself was a very cool experience. We were guided through about 8 different oils and 4 balsamic. We talked about the production, processing, health benefits, and practical application of olive oil! The course instructor was nice, but some of the information she provided seemed suspect--perhaps more geared towards promoting THCOC oil than providing object facts (haha). The room was also freezing cold (a comment made by a few different parties). Ok I'm done complaining haha... the space itself is beautiful, and some of the oils we tasted were sublime. It really was amazing the difference in taste between different varieties and blends of olives. The infusions were very fun, business' story was fascinating. Beautiful, inspiring, and also tragic. Highly recommend visiting just to support the owner and his family. We will definitely buy their oil in the future!

I wanted to get this for my book club soiree, but did not have time to make a visit as it is a little north of downtown. Antonelli's Cheese Shop is charming and quaint. While the shop is small they have an assortment of items to sell in addition to cheese - wine, sauces, jellies, etc. I was immediately greeted upon entry into Antonelli's cheese shop. Two other customers were being helped, however, I had a store associate offer me some cheese samples. While the samples were good, I was specifically interested in the three cream cheese. They had two choices to select from. I was hoping they had more. This is a shop you need to spend some time in to leisurely evaluate the cheeses. There was also a human size dog in the shop at the time. I don't know what is about dogs, they like to lick me. Guess what...I do not like to be licked. So, I jetted out of the store.

They have wine, jams/jelly/preserves. Chocolates, and olives. They also have premade charcuterie boards too. When I came, they were giving away free cheese everyday of the week. The first 100 people that were in line. Free cheese? Yes please. As you can imagine, there was a long line of people waiting, and with the store being small, we were sent in in small groups. Couple people come out, couple people go in. As the line shortens and you get to the counter. You're given your free cheese, and asked what type of cheese you like. I gave my favorites, soft cheese, like brie, hard cheese, like manchego I like spicy cheese like hatched chili cheese or a jalapeño cheese. So after giving some examples of cheese that I like the gentleman helping me brought out three different samples and we tried them together and loved every one of them so I chose which ones I liked out of the three and then we moved down the counter a little bit, and the gentleman brought out another selection of three cheeses, and I tried those and told him which ones I liked, and they were all phenomenal. The gentleman that helped me was very attentive. He listened. he gave examples exactly what I was asking for and it was absolutely beautiful experience. even though they were packed and crazy and had 100 people waiting outside. He just treated me like we were just one on one. He took his time with me. I thought it was such a spectacular experience very personable. I walked out with 5 different cheeses. A bar of orange chocolate with dried cherries. And a baguette. And let me tell you, I ate so good during our Texas ice storm 2026! So here's the down side. Parking. There are like 8 parking spots in front. And a couple parking in the back. But beyond the back, there is a small pay with a QR code parking. It's a bit of a struggle as far as parking goes. There is no street parking. But I'm sure when you're not dealing with 100 customers it's not as much of a struggle. There are 2 accessible parking spots out front. Had a great experience. And will come back again.

The shop is set up like a tasting room. You can walk around the store and sample the different oils and vinegars using small bread pieces. I have yet to taste a flavor that I did not like. They have a very large selection of flavors in both oil and vinegar. We purchase both and use them to cook or simply use them as a salad dressing. For instance, the balsamic vinegar's are delicious straight out of the bottle on salad. Some of our favorites are Brown Fig, Blueberry, and Lemongrass. Our favorite oils are Jalapeño, Roasted Garlic, and Tuscan Herb. René is the owner. She is very helpful in discussing the ingredients of each one and helping you decide the flavors to purchase. She will also let you place orders over the phone and ship them to you. Small bottles are available for purchase if you have a difficult time making up your mind. Larger bottles are available once you find your favorites and start using more oil or vinegar. If you are purchasing direct from the store, you can bring your large bottle back into the store for a refill and save some money. Bottom line - San Saba Olive Oil Company is a fantastic store to purchase unique flavors of oils and balsamic vinegars. I highly recommend you stop in if you are ever driving through San Saba, Texas. Call René if you have any questions about what to order. She is a great help. Bon appétit.
