The young lady working behind the counter was extremely rude. When my sister picked up a coffee mug hanging on the wall with other merchandise she was abruptly told "don't touch the cups". Apparently the cups belong to a coffee club. The rude lady then told us there are signs that say don't touch. We had a really bad experience in the Strawberry Patch in contrast to the other very friendly people in Salado. read more

When my brother moved to Salado I-35 was a mess and killed alot of the small businesses there. Every time my daughter and me would visit we would go to the Strawberry Patch and get the garlic pickles and other yummys ! Was shopping in salado wanting to support small businesses and was not impressed with the customer service of this place. Never greeted (there was no one else in this business) and when I checked out there was barely any interaction from the actual business owner and his employee. Never a thank you or smile from Them. Not impressed at all and won't be back and will not promote. It's not hard to thank and greet your customers for their business. Went to the olive oil shop in salado as well and they were very kind. Makes a difference in a small Town! **In response to the business owner , I never once said anything about your pricing or product. I just found this store today and let me tell you it is different than the gift and boutique stores in Salado. In the fact that the owner is extremely knowledgeable about coffee varieties and their origins, how to roast them properly and what roasts are good and what roasts are better. This is a full-service coffee shop as well, with over 100 different coffee choices I chose the cold, chai tea spiced this time, but next time, I'm going to try a coffee, the spice chai is so good. This shop has home decor from local artisans,, and food items from unique small businesses, the selection is vast for the store. The proprietor is a very friendly, outgoing man. Very easy to talk to, a wonderful wealth of knowledge. You will enjoy your visit here, stop in and get a cup of coffee and some jalapeño stuffed olives if you're in the mood.. I can't say enough about this place! The customer service is great and the gentleman that assisted us was incredibly friendly and helped us out in our quest for great coffee! We just stumbled across this little salado town and I am beyond ecstatic that we decided to veer off the beaten path and check it out! We ended up getting the texas gold and I can tell you everytime we drive through we will stop in and buy some more! Can't wait to try the other coffee's too! I stopped here for coffee on a Saturday afternoon on my way home from work. I had a capuccino and it was really delicious. They sell jams, jellys and many picked veggies. The best part was to find our dear friend John playing his guitar. He told us he plays every Saturday afternoon when he is not on a tour. It is a most stop in beautiful historic Salado. read more

Although the store opens around 10 on Sunday's, Jim was gracious enough to invite us in to look around and wait for him to brew some coffee. Since this was our first time visiting, it was nice to get the local spin. Rumor also had it that this place had the best coffee in Texas. While waiting for the coffee to brew, we heard the entire process of how their beans were roasted and the craft involved in making the perfect blend. Well, I can say that of all the coffee we had over the weekend, that was definitely the best. Good coffee and good company makes this a must stop for anyone traveling through. What a wonderful find! Yelp did not disappoint with recommending the Strawberry Patch, thank you Fellow Yelpers! I had a wonderful specially made coffee - one that wasn't even on the board nor had owner heard of it before. He was happy to make it for me, and it turned out perfectly. The store is full of spices, specialty foods, honey (some plain, some habanero hot!), soaps, lotions, artwork, candles. Too much to mention it all! The owner is a local guy who truly cares about his community. He gives back so much because he loves Salado. The Strawberry Patch is an asset to this community, they're the longest lasting business in Salado. They are the best coffee roasters in the area! Without a doubt. My Cafe Miel was superb and I visited with the owner long after I finished my last slurp. I will definitely stop in here again when I'm in the area. They have an online store too! Another dissatisfied visitor. I'm in Salado weekly, alone, but today my family came along for the trip. Stopped in with my husband and children, wanting a simple to-go cup of coffee. Was also wanting to explore their jellies and such. Despite his having a large price board for coffee drinks right behind me, the man says dismissively, "this is a sample bar for coffees we sell". Even worse, I asked if he had any sweets I could buy for the kids. His reply, "we're not that type of shop". Then I noticed there was, indeed, a biscotti display right by the register. I paid and on my way out, we saw a rack with Nabisco-type cookies and such. My husband, who always gives people the benefit of the doubt, turned to me the moment we left and commented on the owner's rudeness. I can skip this place. The unfortunate thing is that this business leaves visitors to beautiful Salado with a bad taste. Perhaps we weren't the "right" kind of clientele. read more

Came to stay over in salado this past weekend and every time we come, we have to pop in for our preserves and coffee.. amongst other goodies. Love this store! Service is so friendly; the choices of coffee are endless. They even grind it for you and they will ask how you prep your coffee so that they grind it correctly. We was driving from Waco to New Braunfels and I was getting sleepy . So I searched for a coffee shop and Strawberry Patch was listed so we decided to try it. Cute little shop with lots of unique gifts that isn't related to coffee you can buy pretty much any type of coffee beans. The shop smelled amazing . The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the man was bragging a little to much for me. But I guess if you are voted/ rated high you can brag. Check the store out. I live n Austin and enjoy spending time staying in Salado taking advantage of the adorable B n B's. Yesterday was my first time I stopped into this coffee shop for a coffee. After walking around and picking up a few things to purchase at the counter I realized that I never want to walk into this place again! When I ordered my coffee it was clear that the man running the place had not trained his employees very well. The adorable little girl asked the man for help in making a drink she had clearly never made before and he was a jerk to her. Not only did he put both girls down but he did it in front of guess which was disgusting. I wanted to tip the girls so much more but unfortunately I only had $2 on me. The way the owner treated his staff was disgusting and I didn't purchase the extra items after all since I never want to give him any of my business again. I hope both of those girls find a better place to work I hope that those two girls parents show up and talk to this man about how you treat people and I hope his business goes under cuz that is no way to talk to another human being. Had he trained the girls, that wouldn't have happened he was rushing throwing things around and acting like a complete a****** when there was only two of us in line there was no big rush. What a delightful shop! We were on our way from Austin to Dallas and wanted some coffee. None of us are real fans of Starbucks, so I expanded the map on Yelp. We saw this spot and decided to check it out. So glad we did. The coffee options are phenomenal, with that delightful smell hitting you the second you walk in. There are a TON of jam and salsa options, cookies, sauces, and knick knacks, all from local Texas businesses. We chatted with the owner a bit, who turned out to be a very friendly and cordial guy. Wide selection of coffee beans from local roasters. You can taste the quality difference in the coffee. Sugar free options are the largest I've seen from even coffee shops. This roastery is by far the best place my husband and I have bought beans from in Texas. I had a sugar free white chocolate raspberry cappuccino and it was delicious. The best coffee you will ever make at home is the Salado Blend coffee - It is insanely good. I would give this 5/5 if I can get past buying the Salado Blend every time and try the 30-50 other coffees they have. The town has taken a hit with the recession so please support it by going there to buy a pound! It cost around 13.95 for 1 lbs and you can get a half a pound as well, but it is more than worth it. They also have tons of jams. Stopping here helps to break up the boring trip back and forth from Austin-Dallas. read more

This is a fun little shop to try various salsas, jellies, and chocolate sauces. Each jar has a little sample container and they provide crackers and little spoons so that you can try them to your hearts' content. However, I come here to get the Salado Blend coffee-- it's out of this world. Take a pound or two home-- it tastes great, with the added bonus of making your house smell yummy, too. Love stopping by here to pick up yummy flavored coffee beans. You can get whole bean or they can grind it for you. They have a nice selection of coffee blends to pick from. I keep meaning to try a new flavor but I love the hawaiian hazelnut so much that I have yet to stray from it. To start I paid 5 dollars and change for a rudely made Cappuccino served to me in a styrofoam cup. On my way from Austin maybe i somehow drove trough a time machine but seriously who is this determined to kill the earth in 2018. That was a little over dramatic but at least step up your serving game Lame-Berry Patch. When I asked for a cappuccino, the gentleman, in the dated polo asked me if I'd like a flavor. Not knowing exactly what he meant, I ask if they did anything special. Like maybe a house flavor, a crowd favorite? Yet to which he replied rather aggressively. This is a "sample bar" not a coffee shop. 20 minutes later I am still confused as to what he meant by anything and what exactly I did that was so wrong that required him practically yelling at me. read more

We LOVE this place. The owner is one of the highlights of my Salado trips. There is a huge selection of coffee and if you have any questions don't worry, he has the answer. We also buy all sorts of jams, syrups, spices, and dressings which he can also tell you all about. Wish there was an option for zero stars. My local friends raved about this place and I was super excited for a quaint small town Texas coffee experience. Went to get coffee, tea, and beans as souvenirs with four friends. Walked in the door to the huge jars of beans along the wall, picked up a jar and the owner immediately snapped "don't put your face in the beans." To which I said: "we were smelling them, like you do with coffee beans." We all left and lamented that we had actually been wanting coffee and he came RUNNING out he door to do a "sorry but" - again, yelling. Note: We hadn't raised our voices in the brief exchange. We left, saddened by the experience. Upon walking back past the parking lot, he came again rushing out to scream "I don't come to your house and riffle through your things." From the open sign in the window and the retail happening, I had thought it was a coffee shop. Guess I should stick to Starbucks, where customer service is still valued. Traveling around the world, I've never encountered a man this volatile about two seconds of appreciation for his product. Boycott this business and patronize Walmart before the Angry Patch. I'm still in shock this actually happened to our beautiful Sunday evening. Stopped by Strawberry Patch Saturday to support the local, small businesses on National Small Business Day. Even though I am not a coffee enthusiast, the owner did a special tea "fusion" for me that was wonderful! Great place to shop for those gourmet food gifts and I'm sure you'll end up taking some home for yourself as well! Besides the coffee, they carry a great selection of jams, salsas and other Texas food products. My wife and I were in Salado for an evening event and had some time to kill. We visited this store since it was one of the few still open after 5 thinking we would just have a look around and get some coffee. An hour later we walked out with a few jars of salsa and an appreciation for the wonderful small business owners in Salado. Great experience all around. Jim opened a jar of salsa and bag of chips for us and shared some of the wonderful fudge made down the road at Mud Pies Pottery. I find myself driving (mostly riding my Harley) the 42 miles from my house to Strawberry Patch in Salado, TX quite frequently. Super fantastic, hot and cold, fresh, individually prepared (Thanks Jim!!) coffees, mochas, lattes, etc. Individualization of your order is no problem whatsoever. I have an uber-healthy lifestyle eating protocol that has never been a problem for the Strawberry Patch. So many jams, jellies, salsa, sauces, curios... So little time... A definite "destination" for your GPS or your meandering around spirit. Quaint, boutique-ish, surroundings, quiet, comfortable, relaxing.
