Do not listen to the negative views on here, this place is exceptional and a Kentucky Treasure that would make Dr. Salato a very proud man. This place is well maintained, clean, and great friendly staff. Fun for any age and very educational for all.

Everything was so fresh and green. The zoo was super easy to navigate and walkable, exactly what you need. We stopped for some food at the food trucks and I got a burger and fries. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the burger was. It was thick and juicy with a really good cheese sauce. I don't know how it took me four years to finally go here!

We were there in early April, so all the gorgeous spring flowers (daffodils, tulips, hyacinth) were in full bloom. The parking lot is close to the entrance and I like that there is shade for your car. (note it is $10 to park). You enter the zoo by going up an elevator or escalator. It is the same as the Pittsburgh Zoo entrance. One thing to note is that the zoo is hilly. No matter what direction you go, you will have some up and down hills. It is easy to navigate, though. The day we visited, we were very fortunate that almost every animal was out and active! The giraffes were wandering in their yard, the lion was chatty and playful, the zebras were enjoying their enrichment, the hippos were swimming and playing. I don't know that I've ever been to a zoo where so many animals were all active and visible! The signage was plentiful and easy to navigate and everything was well kept and clean. There were plenty of spaces to sit and relax and most animals had plenty of space to enjoy. A wonderful visit to a beautiful place.

Believe it or not, you CAN pet kangaroos in Kentucky. My coworkers and I visited the Kentucky Down…read moreUnder Adventure Zoo, and even though we are all adults, we had a blast. The zoo isn't large, but it's big enough to spend a morning or afternoon there as a family. If you have mobility issues, golf carts are available for rent, but if you're in good health and wear the right shoes, you can easily walk and cover the whole zoo. The zoo has a few hills (it is Kentucky) so do wear comfortable shoes and prepare to walk unless you rent a golf cart. My favorite parts were petting the kangaroos and also seeing the sheep dog demonstration. Do pay attention to the times for demonstrations and animal shows; they are worth seeing and the times are a bit limited. You can also feed the goats and interact with the animals, which I enjoyed. We also toured the underground cave, which was a lot of fun but involved a lot of steps. Some of the steps were wet and steep, so be aware of that if you have mobility issues. If you're a parent of young kids or a person who enjoys animals and nature, Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo is a great attraction and worth a visit. It's not too far of a drive from Bowling Green, and a lot of schools and summer day camps visit on field trips.

We did the cave tour - you can tip the guide at the end, we didn't know and didn't have any cash on us. We enjoyed the feeding the Kangaroos and Emus. Some things were closed because of rain but it didn't stop us from having a good time.

I'd driven down I-65 and seen the signs enough to know that it'd be a cool, fun place to visit. Located no far off of the expressway, Dutch County Safari Park is easy to find (just follow the signs). There isn't so much a grand entrance as there is a road the empties out to the large parking lot. The admission fee (roughly $18 per person) is reasonable. One the morning we went there were a lot of kids (and associated families), but that's to be expected, given this attraction is family and education based. The hay ride is the star of this show. You'll be driven by a tractor through the open field. You'll encounter zebras, camels, oxen, ostriches, and many other animals. Each person gets a bowl of feed, and these animals are absolute pros at eating as much as they can as the hay ride slowly makes its way through the park. There is a petting zoo with goats that's kind of fun. One of them tried to eat one of my show laces. There are a few indoor exhibits with rabbits and monkeys and a few other animals and a gift shop. It's easy to miss if you don't explore a bit, so keep your eyes open. This attraction is run by an Amish family, and I think that it's rather neat that the offer this to the public. Our visit lasted a little over an hour and was an hour well spent in the hot July sun. Most of the park is well-shaded, but bring a hat just in case.

We were in the area on a crappy rainy weekend looking for something to do. We thought we'd take a chance on the Kentucky Reptile Zoo. I was impressed with the diversity of reptiles they had, especially for being so remote. I was also really impressed with the staff. It's obvious to see how much they love their jobs and care about all the animals. We were lucky to have been able to see a venom extraction. It was very interesting and informative, and the seasoned vet performing the extraction was very open and willing to answer questions any of us had. They're doing really great work at the KRZ, with a lovely and passionate staff. I would definitely recommend it!
