Parakeet, feeding sticks for purchase in the gift shop!

We took our students to Wendt's Wildlife Adventure today for one of our summer activities, and I couldn't be more in love with this place! The facility & staff: Coordinating with their staff was seamless - they were very organized & accommodating. Everyone was so kind and they made sure we knew they were there if we needed anything. The facility is well kept and they have a large variety of animals, all who look well taken care of. From a supervising perspective, any traffic is monitored well with having one entrance & exit. The layout is straightforward, which made it easy for the kids to navigate and allows safe exploration. It's simple, but that feeling of safety and peace of mind given by their setup takes a load off. The activities: In addition to all the animals and super fun parakeet encounter, they have a nice creek & cute splash pad, swings, slides, plenty of outdoor seating areas if you want to do a picnic lunch or need to sit, and even Daniel Boone's last home in KY (self guided tour, super cool). And they have a great gift shop with plenty of affordable items & cold treats! If you're a parent or ever plan events for kids, I couldn't recommend it more. It's an absolutely beautiful space that is local, safe, affordable, and fun!

Very great animal sanctuary. Ample spaced enclosures for the animals. Friendly staff, healthy and happy looking animals.

Upon entering the barn style store, we noticed very quickly how the inside was clean and staff were friendly. We got a few things to try at home like the fudge and doughnuts. We also got some food: BLT, burger, chips, drinks, etc. There are a lot of places to take beautiful fall photos. We were 3 adults and a toddler, thankfully we paid a reduced price to enter the activity area because only the toddler did anything & it was too cold / wet to do most of the activities. She loved the petting zoo area & had a blast in the corn pit. I recommend going even on a day the sun doesn't shine. Be sure to wear boots.

There's something for everyone here. My friend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and had a great time. We found a spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere while sipping on apple cider mimosas & slushies. The slushie was my favorite for sure. They have several options for hard cider on tap as well as a variety of food options. We took a hay ride and attempted the corn maze. There's a store with so many different products for purchase. Apples, cider, donuts, jams/jellies, honey, spices, baking mixes, and so many more. I was surprised at all the things they offered. For family fun there's a play area with slides and other kid friendly activities. Admission and parking are free. You pay for any activities that you would like to participate in. A great way to spend a Fall day.

The property is absolutely beautiful, and there is so much to see and do that you really could spend an entire day here. One of my favorite things about the park is being able to get up close to so many different horses and learn about the different breeds. The Hall of Champions was especially interesting, and seeing the famous horses and learning about their history was a really cool experience. The International Museum of the Horse is another major highlight. Even if you're not a huge horse expert, there's so much history and information that it's genuinely interesting and educational. There are also other barns, exhibits, demonstrations, sculptures, and attractions throughout the park. The horse presentations and demonstrations really add to the experience because you're not just walking around looking at horses. You actually get to see them in action and learn about their history, breeds, training, and roles. The horse-drawn trolley ride is also a fun way to see more of the massive property. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, and the staff we encountered were friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell this is a place where people genuinely care about the horses and about sharing Kentucky's horse history with visitors. There is a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes are definitely recommended, but that's part of what makes the experience so enjoyable. There are so many different areas to explore that it never really feels like you're just doing the same thing over and over. Whether you're a serious horse lover or just looking for something different to do around Lexington, I would highly recommend the Kentucky Horse Park. It's a great way to experience a big part of what makes Kentucky special. Beautiful grounds, amazing horses, fascinating history, great exhibits, and plenty to see and do.

It was next to nothing but a nice place to stroll around a lake and feed the ducks. This summer when my daughter and grandson came to town they requested that we forego our annual trip to the Louisville Zoo and give the Salato Wildlife Education Center a try. We went there and my expectations were extremely low. I was pleasantly surprised at the changes that occurred since I was here last. The small museum utilizes every nook and cranny with exhibits It is very informative yet fun for all. Then after making the circle through the museum we exited the rear door to the outside and began our leisurely stroll down paths and around loops to see all the live wildlife. Even though there were multiple families visiting at the same time the grounds absorbed the people so you didn't feel like you were in a crowd. There are many opportunities for kids to have a hands on feel for the subject matters. So the $5. for adults and the $3. for kids was well worth our afternoon visit to the center. Woohoo, I'll be back on my own just to walk the grounds again.
