You usually can get some good, homemade food; bargains; and socializing all in once place. Frequent auction-goers often have a friendly competitor relationship because a lot of buyers are resellers and see each other everywhere they go. Anyway, the check in clerk was VERY friendly. I thought Andrew handled his auction very professionally and continued at a good pace. I'm very jealous of his great building. His storage seems very safe for consigners who have their things waiting to be sold. A few days later, I contacted them about consigning some items. While I'm still waiting for final confirmation from them, they have been easy to work with. While I'm very much out of the buying/reselling business, I would recommend you check this place out if you are into interesting vintage items.

Value is sometimes less than expected due to obvious defects not shown in photos, noted (or misrepresented) in description, stickers over defects, items stated as "complete" missing parts, sold as working but not operational; buyer beware, if you are unable to go to the preview; too high maintenance for me. A little extra effort on the descriptions would go along way towards serving customers.

I don't think people realize how difficult it is to sort through the incredible amount of items that they handle on a weekly basis. They sort and place items that should be sold together, and their photography and presentation are top notch. Some items brought more than we thought they would, and some items brought less. Anyone that gets upset at the value they receive from an auction, doesn't understand the process. Black and Gold simply acts as a facilitator to bring buyers and sellers together. If your item didn't bring what you thought it should, the buying public didn't think it was worth much. Those places should not be allowed any title other than "garage sale" and due to that behavior I stopped attending. As an antique collector, I hesitate to to call attention to this auction house by leaving a review…read more (The more people that know about it, the more likely the bids will be higher ) However, based on the new owner's kind disposition and the "hand picked" high quality treasures that he makes available, I have to share. The new owner currently offers an online only auction experience that is second to none. He allows on sight previews of all the auction items prior to the sale date but even if you can't attend the preview, his online descriptions are very accurate and honest........you can bid with confidence. I have been an active bidder as this auction house for several years now and always look forward to his next sale. If this review has encouraged you to take a peek at his future sales, please don't bid on the items that I am bidding on.
