I wrote my original review 2 years ago, and I'm pleased to report as a long-term patient that Dr. Waraich continues to provide an exemplary level of care. I always look forwards to my appointments with him, for not only does he take the time to listen to my concerns and answer any questions, but he genuinely seems to care about any issues I bring up, never rushes me during appointments, and frequently does additional research in his own time to help me overcome various health obstacles. That is unheard of in this day and age. He also takes the time to keep up to date with the latest findings in the field, which combined with his caring and compassionate nature, I believe makes him one of the top Rheumatologists in California. In addition to that, Dr. Waraich is unique amongst all the other doctors I'm currently seeing for my condition, in that he also makes himself available to personally answer questions and fill prescriptions via email. As any patient knows, health scares tend to happen at the worst possible times, such as over Christmas or at times when most practices are shut. Both Dr. Waraich and his office staff frequently check the practice's email - there have been a number of occasions over the last few years when I've run out of a prescription mid-vacation or had a supply-chain issue obtaining my medication. I've sent the practice an email, and received help from the doctor within 24 hours, if not sooner. This is super valuable to me because I have Sjogrens syndrome, which causes severe dry mouth, insomnia, and dry eyes. Without my medications, I can't eat, sleep, or see, and can barely swallow. So this 'above-and-beyond' level of care has been incredibly valuable, and is not something I'll ever take for granted. Dr. Waraich... you are amazing, and your care and compassion has made one of the scariest times in my life so much more manageable. Thank you for all that you do. I decided to get checked for a disease that ran in my family thru my family doctor and was told something came back positive and was referred to this doctor. Boy was I nervous to come here to get results and answers and prayed for the best! It took a long time to be seen here which was the only downfall I would say. I made my appointment and they couldn't get me in for over a month. I tried to see if I could reschedule when time got a little closer and then it wasn't going to be for a month plus. So I kept my appointment the same. So the wait time was more nerve-wracking. The ladies at the office are really nice and helpful. They called to remind me of my appointment and resent paperwork I asked for promptly. When I arrived I was the only one in there and waited for about 10 minutes to be seen. The doctor was very friendly and knowledgeable. He looked at my results and quickly knew what it was. He asked lots of questions and did a through check up. I was sent to Dr. Waraich because of some auto-immune issues and abnormal test results and my GP thought it was time I saw a Rheumatologist. It's never any fun to have to see a "specialist" but the minute the doctor walked into the room I sensed his calm and pleasant manner. We not only discussed my test results but he gave me some sound and sensible "life advice" that I 100% took to heart and have used every day in my daily life since my initial visit. He talked to me like a friend, not like a doctor. His "bedside manner" is very refreshing. I had to re-take tests and bloodwork and to my surprise all my follow-up phone calls were actually done by the doctor himself. He left detailed voicemails and information.... and I actually understood what he was saying (using English words, not "doctor words"). I was totally impressed even more by that. I've since gone back for follow up visits and have continued to be impressed by his kind demeanor and personality. I highly recommend him to anyone searching for a specialist in his field. My mom has arthritis in her knees and chronic pain that's been going on for years. She's been to countless doctors (orthopedics, neurologists, rheumatologists) and no one has been able to assist her so far. Even more so, many doctors have acted very cold and unapproachable. I had originally scheduled an appointment with a different rheumatologist, but then I found Dr. Waraich on Yelp and I'm so glad I cancelled the first appointment! When we arrived at his office, we had our temperatures checked my the front desk and were let in immediately. They only let patients in during their appointment time so there are no crowded waiting rooms. We were immediately led to a patient room and Dr. Waraich saw us promptly. All the doctors appointments I've been to with my mom, no one has seen us so promptly! He was very nice and took the time to ask us questions and examine where she was hurting. He looked at the reports we brought in from past doctors and was overall, very thorough. He even gave my mom a cortisone shot in her knee the same visit. Noticing that she was nervous of the shot, he even numbed the area which previous doctors DID NOT DO when she had cortisone shots in the past. After the visit, he sent over a medication to our pharmacy that a previous neurologist had also prescribed. However, my mom's insurance wouldn't cover the medication originally. Even with a authorization sent to the doctor to authorize its necessity so the insurance could cover it, the insurance still refused to cover the medication. I expected the same thing to happen this time with Dr. Waraich's office. However, within just a few days, the medication was approved by insurance after they contacted the office for further authorization. :) We were pretty ecstatic! Although it's too early to say whether the medication is helping with my mom's pain, we very much appreciate the attentive visit and experience with the doctor and front desk staff. read more

I have had psoriatic arthritis for over two years now. My prior rheumatologist refused to take care of psoriatic arthritis that was not exquisitely responsive to Otezla. She referred me to a physician with a six month waiting list...my disease progressed rapidly in the interval, so I switched to someone else on a brilliant recommendation. After listening to me intently as I described the last two years, he performed a wonderfully in depth history and detailed physical exam. He ordered the necessary labs for my disease and the possible treatments I would need, then he started me on methotrexate in addition to the Otezla. He even spoke about the next step in depth. The office actually called me in follow up! This gentle, highly intelligent and learned man cares deeply for each and every one of his patients and their well-being. I can understand his other 5-star reviews as I'm giving him one as well. I have high hopes of arresting this disease progression and having a reasonable future life ahead of me. Five stars definitely! I can't say enough for Dr. Waraich. My son has only been to his office once, so far. We were able to get an appointment next day since I let his office know my son's critical condition. When we walked into Dr. Waraich's office, we were seen within minutes. The girls in the office area were very helpful, efficient and friendly. As soon as Dr. Waraich walked into the exam room, I felt relieved. He began asking questions and listening to my son's explanation of what was going on. Dr. Warraich caught on immediately, that even though my son's blood rests from Urgent care tested positive for RA, his immediate problem was a result from his ongoing diabetes condition & the excruciating pain in his feet and legs was not directly related to RA, but rather diabetic neuropathy. My son had been having leg and foot pain for months, but kept working and enduring the pain until it became unbearable and he could not walk without excruciating pain...so we went to Urgent care & bood tests came back positive for RA, among other things mostly relating to his diabetes. My daughter-in-law insisted we get appointment with her D.O., so we went there and that Dr. suggested my son see an Rheumatolgist. My son has been diabetic for years and when Dr. Waraich saw him, it was apparent to Dr. Waraich that what was needed was a trip to a vascular surgeon. Dr. Waraich gave us a print out of a vascular surgery facility that he recommended & suggested we see a vascular surgeon ASAP. Dr. Waraich went the extra mile and called the vascular surgery facility and recommended my son for immediate consultation. If it weren't for Dr Waraich, we would have been put on a waiting list, but my son got in right away on account of Dr. Waraich's intervention. I've read other reviews and I agree with others in wishing Dr. Waraich could be our primary care physician. He is extremely intelligent and knows his medicine. He has great bedside manners, listens calmly to his patient, makes notes, and tunes right into the condition quickly and makes appropriate recommendations and referrals on the spot without a follow up appointment. He ordered another RA test for more information and told us he would call with the results and for us to make a follow up appointment after my son has completed the vascular exam and whatever procedures were ordered. A physician recommended me Dr. Waraich due to my constant pain in both knees and totally clear MRI results. During my first visit, he was very courteous, asked me some questions and did some tests and explained me a possible diagnostic, but asked me to get a blood test just to make sure it was what he believed. He explained me absolutely everything, he told me why he was asking all those questions, what every test he was making was telling him and his he got to his almost final conclusion. He answered all the questions I made and gave me a series of recommendations to reduce the pain as I waited for the blood test results. My second visit was yesterday, after approximately a month, and he explained everything in the results, what they meant I the next steps I should take. Again, he answered all my questions very politely and made other recommendations according to the results, but he asked me to get a second blood test because he noticed something dangerous in the first results. He explained me what the results could be and what should I do, and also told me to go back in 4 months for a follow up visit, but he also explained he would call me before if he believed it was necessary due to the results of the second test. From my two visits, I can tell he really knows what he's doing, he explains everything (in plain English) and always responds to all questions in the best possible way, adding recommendations and second options.
