He takes his time with you and asks about other health conditions so he can consider how they might impact your eye health. This is not the place for you if you just want to read an eye chart and leave. Adding an update on my review from 2019: 5+ years after my Lasik surgery with Dr. Butrus, I'm still seeing better than 20/20! I'm so glad I did it. Huge improvement in daily life and no issues at all. I've had trouble finding good doctors overall - it's so hard to tell from online reviews if doctors are actually good or just good at advertising or selling an office experience. I continue to see Dr. Butrus for all my eye issues as he's very knowledgeable and experienced, no-nonsense, and kind - clearly serving the local community for a long time. Same goes for his office staff. Zero problems ever with insurance, scheduling, etc. I still go back to him now, even though I've moved to VA. It's not a bells-and-whistles shop, but they do a good job taking care of my eyes (and quickly), which is perfect for me. read more

There are many things I look for in a doctor, number one is expertise and knowledge then bedside manner. Dr. Butrus has both. The admin staff schedule a lot of patients and the office is always busy during my visits. So you will need patience; but rest assured when it's your turn he will give you his full attention and he's very detailed. He's a doctor that truly care about his patients whole well-being, not just their sight. The staff is nice, parking can be a pain. He performed cataract surgery four months ago. So far, everything has worked out well. Recovery was relatively quick and painless and the following day, was amazed to have 20/20 vision. Accessing an appointment has always been very easy, and have rarely had to wait. Office staff has been very pleasant. Great experience! Initially I thought the receptionist was a bit rude, but I take that back, she's just very efficient. You're on her turf, just follow orders and she'll get you in, out, and taken care of. That works for me. Dr. Butrus is friendly, polite, professional, and straight to the point. He made recommendations where needed but absolutely did not give a sales pitch at any point. In my experience that's pretty rare in his field. At every annual eye appointment elsewhere I've been pushed to consider LASIK, despite having no complaints about contact use, and pushed to purchase contacts and glasses from the office. He let me know they offer LASIK and could answer questions but in my case agreed that contacts were working just fine. He didn't push me to change brands or purchase anything from them. He provided my written rx on the spot. Beware of mall-style chains that do not operate on the same level. read more

Dr Butrus was thorough and suggested some follow up tests with my PCP and one of the tests revealed the likely cause of my eye emergency. Dr. Butrus staff provides great service, is knowledgeable about the equipment they use and answered my questions so I understood the purpose of the machine and what information it would provide. Dr Salim I. Butrus is a very efficient and a polite Doctor. I initially went to see him about 5 years ago because my normal ophthalmologist could not figure out the decline in my eye sight. After doing some research, I found Dr. Butrus and a doctor at Washington eye center. The doctor at Washington eye center diagnosed me with keratoconus and recommended I do a $10k procedure that my insurance would not cover and it was an early experiment. After leaving, I visited Dr. Butrus for a second opinion and the diagnosis was the same but he recommended we monitor the condition and he gave me some eye drops to use daily. I see him every 6months and my eyes have been stable. I have found him to be honest and he cares about your overall health. He recommended I loose weight and to have other precautionary tests as well. All his staff are awesome and hard working people. I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. Butrus is excellence in opthamology and patient care. I first went to Dr. Butrus after a tough diagnosis. I began to see him every three months. He walked me and my family through how to optimally care for my eyes and gave me lots of preventative measures too. On one occasion, medicines prescribed by various specialists began to interact.
