Really good stop if you're on a road trip. The staff were super nice, food was good, decently priced and the toilets really clean. I got the tri-tip, chicken and nopales. Tri-tip was a little too dry for me, but still flavorful, I thought the chicken was better. Nopales side was good but a little heavy on salt, probably to dry out the slime. I saw a massive dessert made out of strawberries and cream but didn't order it. Sweet tooth folks will probably love digging into that. But hey this is a truck stop! I've been to some really bad ones with greasy food, at least you'll get a wholesome Mexican home style meal here. Definitely will drop by again on my next trip down south. Do the words "Hole in the wall" mean anything to you? Well, this little place exemplifies the saying. This is not your run-of-the-mill restaurant. It's not your usual gas station, truck stop, or convenience store, either. It's definitely one of those back street hole-in-the-wall locations that checks all of the boxes. While being a great place for the backbone of America (truck drivers) to fuel up, grab a shower, spend a few minutes stretching their legs, or any of a number of other activities (sleep, anyone? Hahaha!!), it's also a great place for food. People don't often like to associate truck stops with good food but this place proves them all wrong. It has some of the best thinly sliced tri-tip roast I've had since I last had my dad's - and he was a great grillmaster! This tri-tip is cooked properly on a pit over hot coals. It gets a lovely bark and a bit of a smoke ring and is so tender and juicy. They pile it high on tortillas to make the best tri-tip burritos ever. They do not skimp on the meat! The rest of the ingredients of the burritos don't disappoint, either. The beans are flavorful, the rice is tender, and the salsa is really nice. I like ordering my burrito with extra cilantro and sour cream and they're happy to accommodate. They have other things they offer, too, but I'm a sucker for those tri-tip burritos so that's my go-to. They're inexpensive to order and nicely filling. Pair with a nice soda, coffee, or tea, and maybe grab one of their strawberries and cream desserts from the cold case by the food counter. Be sure to thank a driver while you're there. They're the backbone of America. WIthout them, we wouldn't have any of the things we all need to meet our daily needs. Awesome tri-tip sandwiches and burritos or you can get a platter with two sides and bread/tortilla for about $9.00! Not to mention huge portions, the burrito is the size of the large chihuahua. In my personal opinion the tri-tip rivals that of much fancier restaurants like famous dave's or smalleys round up. They often have ribs, chicken and other good and fattening foods truckers love! They carry a wide selection of soft drinks, desserts and even salads but I don't think many truckers go there for salads!! They only have a few chairs inside maybe like four tables but the patio is fairly large but I normally don't eat there you often see a lot of truckers and the occasional lot lizard!!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR RV WASH! I looked online to verify that they had packages for recreational vehicles and truck and trailer washes. After waiting in line for almost 1/2 hour, we were told by one staff to go inside and pay and when I got out and went to go pay, I was told by another staff that they will only do washes by appointment. So I went inside and asked the clerk which answer was correct. They said you need an appointment. I asked if I could make an appointment and they said no, you have to make it the day before. I asked how was I supposed to make an appointment when I'm on the way home on vacation and wouldn't have know what time I'd pass there? They said said then too bad, that's not our problem. We drove past a Love's under construction. Hopefully they take all their business and they get a taste of Justice for being rude. It would have been a quick and easy $80 for them! Hopefully another RVer looking for a wash is helped by this. read more

I love this place! It's a steam table cum deli in a convenience store within a truck stop. Sometimes, I'm the only non-woman of the night there, but it's never scary! If you come at lunch time, you stand in line with the truckers with your back turned to the steam table because you're discussing and watching General Hospital. It's a scream! I'm a burrito gal, so that's all I've every gotten here, but the Rasta truckers say their veges are good and the non-veg truckers say the ribs are stunning! The burrito comes in two sizes. The large size is a typical, huge super burrito and the small is much smaller. The small will leave you wanting more but would be good for a child or if you were trying to fool your spouse that you were dieting! Small burritos are $3.00. The large is $4.25; a great bargain. There is a $.50 surcharge for sliced tri-tip; again, a screamin' deal! Other meat options are chile verde, chile colorado, stewed chicken, and carnitas. Ingredients to add include refritos, Mexican style rice, grated jack/cheddar, and red or green salsa. The customer gets to direct what goes into the tortilla. It's a truck stop, so a "More, please!" usually works if you want lots of meat. We skip the rice; more room for the good stuff! The tortilla is heated on a grill. The toasty spots really add flavor. Unfortunately, the cheese is not steamed on the tortilla. My husband and I are bitterly divided on the wisdom of cheddar on a burrito. Russ feels the cheddar adds umame to the tri-tip. I am old school and eschew cheddar on pizzas and burritos. The beans are made in-house; smashed incompletely and fried up. They have great flavor. The salsa is indiscernible. So far, this sounds pretty uninspired but the secret to these burritos is the meat! Let me wax on about the meat--- The tri-tip is smoky tasting, and unbelievably juicy for a piece of meat that's been cooked outside over wood, sliced thin, and then kept hot on the steam table. It is, in a word, divine! The chile verde is amazing! I don't think I've ever had better chile verde, and when I tell you that hubby and I frequently spend vacations trying to find the perfect burrito, yes, even in Szeged, Hungary, you should get the idea that we're nuts, and that we have eaten a ton of chile verde. It has been cooked in a tomatillo chile sauce that is very spicy with black pepper and green chiles until the meat literally is in shreds similar to carnitas. It is juicy and delicious! Some locals come just to buy a pound of tri-tip or a container of chile verde to bring back home for dinner while other folks pick up the excellent ribs. As far as scoring goes, points are lost for not steaming the tortilla with the cheese, no avocado, sour cream, or cilantro (ick!), and no ambience. Hey, it's a truck stop so no smiling or joking around allowed. However, the burrito assembler is there to please, and would no doubt include mashed potatoes or chop suey at your request. This is a huge value and worth a try if you love tri-tip or chile verde. With a location transplant, more options, and steamed tortillas, this would be burrito heaven. If you travel on 101 through Salinas, take the Airport Blvd exit, and follow the trucks! (I'd print out the map, too!). You won't be sorry! read more

Perfectly cooked tritip bbq'd to perfection with spanish rice beans and cheese ( careful the hot sauce is more than warm). Be very careful when you get a trailer washout here. We came here with two loadlocks and when we arrived at our shipper we only had one. So even though they say they do not take loadlocks out of trailers any longer because of complaints of missong loadlocks, i must warn you to count your property before you leave.
