Since the products were packaged in cardboard boxes, I asked the sales associate if she could show me what a couple of the containers looked like. She happily opened two of the boxes so I could see them. As I was looking at another option, I started to open the box myself, and her attitude changed immediately. She told me that if I opened that box, they would have to throw it away. That really confused me because she had just opened multiple boxes moments earlier to help me compare the products. I couldn't understand why it was acceptable when she did it but not when I did. From that point on, the interaction felt very awkward, and she came across as short and rude. I understand there was a line and they were busy, but if helping customers choose a birthday gift slows down the checkout process, it might make more sense to display the birthday gifts somewhere other than the cash register. I love that Ulta offers choices, but the experience of selecting one shouldn't leave customers feeling like they're inconveniencing the staff. I had my sister's eyebrows done some place else, and I was horrified that the individual did not take the time to really "plan" the layout well. Had I not insisted on checking her outline before she started, her eyebrows would have been horrible and I vowed I would not go for my own. So I had emailed Anne about her "process". And she has a real process! Its mathematical with visual inspection is layered on top. She was the gal for me! The shape is great, and looks natural because it is intentionally a little bit different, but completely balanced! They healed up beautifully and just went back today for the touch up. She's a perfectionist! And trust me, that is what you want! Not someone who is winging it! Thank you Anne!
