This Sephora is located in the mall and is generally very busy. I have always had good service at this location. I recently took advantage of the "free" make over session. My experience started off really great when I asked an associate to help me find some lip stain. She was AMAZING. After she helped me she let me stay at the makeup counter to keep swatching shades and even brought me makeup remover so I could help myself. I was happy to take my time. Then, an associate with a nose ring came up and rudely asked "do you need help" after I said no she rudely belched back "are you sure?" At this point, I realized she probably thought I was a young person messing with makeup. She then started to condescendingly explain lip stains to me, even though the lipsticks next to me were there because the other associate was trying to find a color I'd like first. After I explained this she softened up a bit, but watched me like a hawk when I finally went to grab the lip stain I wanted to purchase. She even stood near the door. While I was swatching a group of other associates were nearby. One asked if I was good and not realizing she was addressing me I did not respond and ignored her. Instead, she started talking shit about me within earshot to the effect of "she's been here this whole time and doesn't want help I don't care" Ladies. I am an adult with a nearly a decade of work experience. I work very hard so I can take my time buying the products I want. I'm sorry I'm short and was wearing casual clothes but I am not a young black teen looking to play in the makeup and hang out and steal. That's exactly how I was treated. I did let the girl who checked me out about my awful experience and the gossiping, but I will be returning my product tomorrow. read more

Had an upsetting experience at this store. An older female employee accosted my daughter about having three sample cups to try foundations. My daughter is 15, looks very young, and has diagnosed anxiety conditions. I overheard as I was standing nearby and told the employee that I had given the cups to her, and I showed her the compartment on the mirror island where I had gotten them. We were just going to leave but my kid was visibly upset. I told the lady that I didn't think employees should accost minors but should speak to their parents instead. Then a young male employee came over and pointed to a little sticker over a compartment on the other side of the mirror island which said that customers should ask employees for assistance. I showed him where I had gotten the cups from and that there was no signage about asking for employee assistance there. The lady was standing there getting the cups out from that compartment, presumably to move them to the compartment with the little sign, and the male employee (smirking the whole time) said that she was just moving them to the compartment WITHOUT the sign and that I was wrong about where I had gotten them from. He was standing there lying and smirking. At no time did they offer any apology for upsetting my kid. Sorry I am a parent who will probably swear at an employee at this point and that's what I did. Didn't raise my voice though, which is what they did. We left the store and will never return. I will not shop at Sephora anymore. read more

I enjoy Sephora because of the number of options, but on more than one occasion I have asked the staff to color match me for new foundations and I have been met with what I can only describe as a lackluster experience. One staff member stated she couldn't leave her area of the store and was already helping 3 customers, but I noticed she wasn't speaking to anyone nor helping anyone. She passed me along to another staff member who told me to match myself and they'd be back. As product experts and employees, I felt like they should be a bit more willing to display their expertise and assist with color matching--the reason many go shop in person in the first place. read more

This is a nice Sephora even though it's nothing like the Sephora in Hollywood or San Francisco but its still a good store with a decent selection and friendly staff and it really wasn't that busy especially for it being a Saturday let this have been some where in California this store would have had a few long lines at the registers so no complaints with this Sephora in Lexington keep it up! read more

While I don't shop at Sephora often, I find the store pleasant enough. The staff is friendly and helpful, and happy to give samples of products to try before purchase. There is some comparison to Ulta, but in a seemingly more upscale manner. Cosmetics are rather personal, therefore, the individual's taste is key. Best you see for yourself. read more

I generally prefer to shop Sephora online to avoid a trip to Fayette Mall, but will stop in when I need something and can't wait for shipping. This location stays busy and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. My last visit was a few days after Christmas and the store was out of EVERYTHING. I ended up just ordering what I needed online after the items I was interested in purchasing weren't in stock in the store. I do like that you're always able to take home samples of new products to try out at home for a few days before purchasing, and they let you return anything you bought that didn't work out. read more

The staff here are so friendly and helpful! I'm slowly replacing my drugstore-quality make-up as it runs out, and the employees here have been really great at helping me find products that work for me and my skin. I feel guilty sometimes for the number of samples I've taken from the store, but it has been great for figuring out the products I like. Sometimes an employee will even suggest a couple more products for me to try; once I mentioned to the consultant with whom I was working that I love the smell of cucumber, and another one came over when I was checking out with a new perfume sample that featured that scent! I had my makeup done here on Saturday. I needed some products and wanted to look extra special for my bridal shower. Haley fixed my face and I love the way that I looked. The makeup was appropriate for a bridal shower. I had pink lips, gold and neutral eye-shadow, and false eyelashes. My eyes were the focal point, without having a lot of dark make-up or a smoky eye. She was friendly and helped me find the products that I needed without trying to pressure me into buying things that I didn't need. read more

When Sephora first made it's way into Fayette Mall, I wasn't very impressed. I was a bit stuck in my ways and had a love affair with Ulta. Is Sephora like Ulta? Kind of. I think Sephora is more upscale and has more high end brands. I prefer Sephora over Ulta now when I want to splurge or spoil myself. And Sephora's store brand items are better than Ulta's store brand items. My friend is part of the "I spend too much money here" club and she gets to attend VIP events. She invited me to one of the events and that is where Sephora officially earned my 5 stars. Yes, I spent too much money, but I really needed to take advantage of the 20% EVERYTHING offer. Not to mention that I racked up on free samples. Speaking of samples, anytime that we want to try a product, if they don't have a sample then they'll pour a small sampling from the testers, into a sample container. The staff is always friendly, even when I stop in and only browse and only ask for a sample. read more

I spent well over 100 bucks worth of make up only to find out they didn't give me one of the products and when I called back, the lady who picked up the phone said "hold on let's me ask one of the other representatives" and then hung up on me! I called several times but no answer and it goes straight to voicemail. I have been a Sephora member forever but won't be going there anymore. The least she could have done is give a straight answer! I'm a Sephora fan. My VIB Rouge status proves that. I'm trying to use more drugstore products and not be such a makeup/beauty snob but Sephora really sucks me in with their special deals, such as gifts with purchase (usually a deluxe sample of some kind) or the point perks (using points accumulated by being a beauty insider). And being a VIBRouge member, I love having free 2-day shipping on anything and everything on their website. This is why the only time I go into the actual store are for special invitation-only events, usually held on Sunday mornings before the mall opens. I'll be honest, I only go to those for the free samples they always offer. As I said, I'm such a sucker for the freebies, even though i usually have to buy something to get said freebies (argue with *that* logic, I dare you!) The other reason why I prefer to order online is because I go through ebates.com and get cash back on my purchase (usually 4% but sometimes they double that to 8%). As far as the actual store goes, I have no issue with them. Customer Service is good. People are helpful, a little too helpful at times. However, here are the reasons for deducting a star from my review. 1. For the special events, I wish they would have someone manning the food/beverage station. I think the first time I attended one, there was someone there offering to pour the Starbucks coffees and helping with the pastries. That was nice. The last couple times I've gone, I will grab a pastry but skip the coffee because it feels awkward trying to figure out the dispenser thing for the coffee (it isn't a pump pot, it's in a weird box thing). I'm sure it's just me but I would just prefer 1 less person asking me if I need help (trust me, I know who to ask if I do need help) and have them offering me coffee & pastries. 2. I wish I could buy my jumbo size Living Proof shampoo/conditioner from Sephora instead of Ulta. I would rather accumulate Sephora points than Ulta points. read more

I want to start by saying that I LOVE Sephora. LOVE it. Like, I've shopped at the Louisville store religiously since college, and have proudly maintained my VIB Rouge status for years. However, the Fayetteville location is definitely not the greatest in either customer service or product availability. I was in Lexington this weekend, and stopped by the mall specifically to locate a new line of artisan perfume I had seen on the Sephora website. I really wanted to try some of the scents for myself before purchasing. Not only did the store not have the line, but not one staff member offered assistance to me the entire time I was in the store. I really find this very odd in my past experiences with Sephora staff--usually you can't turn a corner without someone asking if you are finding everything okay. Honestly, every time I've been in this location, staff has been standing around, chatting amongst each other, looking disinterested. Thanks, but I'll keep ordering online or purchasing from another location. read more

the tarina tarantino and kat von d displays were inspiring. they taught me to do cat eye makeup and sent me away with a step by step cheat guide card for 2 makeup looks. lots of products available to test before you buy, they give free stuff away on your birthday, and you can often get coupons if you sign up for the sephora e-newsletter. everything in price has gone up but if you're a high end makeup snob, this is your church. read more

SO disappointed in Sephora. Known for their great customer service - they have now changed their policy so you can't return more than 2 items a year without a receipt and insider card - even if they are in the sealed, original packaging! I guess the answer is to tell everyone you know NOT to buy you a gift a Sephora as you aren't going to be able to exchange it.
