Janna understood my style instantly, and identified the best pieces for me after the desk I was originally interested in was taken. Finishing this desk was a battle royale due to the veneer that they did not realize was originally there, but they did it! And Scott personally tapped in every one of these tacks around the chair. These people do not quit. Janna also walked me through some detailing of a vintage piece that has been in my family since forever and distressing of a picture frame -- as in, countless messages back-and-forth until I felt completely comfortable. And it came out with fabulous results. On top of the top-notch work, it's wonderful to support a small business. I don't recommend patronizing this business because they attempted to charge me hundreds of dollars…read morefor a small piece of furniture that was supposed to be on sale. I visited there for the first time today and had selected several items. The saleswoman informed me of the color discounts in effect today. One of items I selected was a hexagonal side table. On to was a sticker with a price of $35 and the words "red sticker!" That meant the sale price was to be 25 percent off $35. I brought the sticker to the saleswoman and informed her that I was interested in the table. I asked if she could keep the sticker so she will know to hold the item when I was ready to pay. She looked confused and then told me that she wasn't sure that was the actual price for the table. I informed her that the sticker was firmly on that table. Later, she started explaining that she wasn't sure that that was the right price for the table because it had been listed on Facebook marketplace by the shop owner for a different price. She scrolled through her phone and found the purported listing for the table, which was priced at about $235. I told her I prefer to pay the price that was on the sticker that had been attached to the table. No other price sticker was on the table. I asked her if she could ask the shop owner who apparently is on vacation. She texted the shop owner and then informed me that the shop owner apparently said the sticker did not belong on that table. I couldn't see the text that she was attempting to show me. And how would I know it's the shop owner? This table was a 70s style piece of furniture that was veneered and had gold metal handles. It definitely was not worth $235. The shop apparently was trying to sell the item on Facebook marketplace as a mid-century modern piece of furniture. The $35 plus the discount was definitely a fair price. At that point, I told the saleswoman that the situation was shady, and I wasn't going to buy anything from the shop. I left.

When I walked in the store, I was greeted by one of the rudest human beings I have ever met. Rather than greet me when I walked in, the cantankerous old shop owner stated, "I was watching you park to make sure you didn't hit my car." He only got worse from there. I look younger than I am and had kids with me, so I don't think he expected much from me. It was disappointing, as I previously bought my dining room table from this shop and was hoping to find a piece or chairs to match. I won't be returning and recommend skipping this shop. There are many lovely shop owners with excellent taste in this complex who aren't terrible and rude.

If you are interested in consigning furniture or any other item for that matter with West Howard…read moreAntiques, think twice. I consigned high-end, expensive furniture with the firm. I was promised a contract for the consignment. I never received one. I was told I would get a receipt for the value of the property in the event it was not sold after 60 days, at which time I could retrieve and donate it to a chaitable organization. My furniture was never marketed on the firm's website. An occasional chair was sold within two weeks of my depositing it with the firm! I was never told of the sale, despite calling several times and viewing the website. Six weeks later, I learned of the sale when I visited the firm and asked if anything had been sold. I was told nothing had been sold. However, one of the owners then proceeded to go into her computer and told me the chair had, in fact, been sold. I had a verbal confrontation with the male co-owner who had promised me a contract and a statement of the property's value. He told me to retrieve the furniture or he would dispose of it. I called Habitat for Humanity, which agreed to accept the furniture as a donation from me. When Habitat picked up the furniture, the owner of the firm finally provided a statement of the value of the property! I am certain he did so because I told him I am an attorney during our verbal confronation. I firmly believe the owners never intended to market my property and wanted to claim the property as their own after 60 days had passed. Then, their intention was to sell the property and retain the proceeds from the sale. This firm is not listed with the Better Business Bureau for a reason!
