They even have coins and jewelry for sell. If you are tired buying gifts from the big department stores, I am sure you can find something unique, but personal, here. The staff is very friendly and customer service is #1. I thought the prices I saw were reasonable but I am sure they are open to negotiations. If you are in the area, this is definitely a cool place to check out.

So this is like one of those antique stores where there are boothes everywhere that people rent out and basically sell and the antique store gets a small cut and they pay rent to have a booth there. There must be upwards of 40+ booths/vendors. Probably more. Everything from antique furniture, antique medical stuff, decor, you name it. I ended up getting some gifts for friends and now that I've given the gifts, I can detail them. An agate container that I thought was cool. A broach in the shape of a person (almost art deco style) but decorated in almost a Native American/Latin style. I got a set of beautiful Japanese coasters in a nice container with I believe Iris' on the front. I also got a cute little Canada themed hourglass thing. Just a bunch of random stuff where I saw it, and was like, "oh I could see this person liking this." I can't wait to go back. I spent maybe an hour or so there, but I could have easily spent more time. The people at the front were really helpful opening up glass cases to see certain items though I will say (the amount of keys and cases they have is sort of aggressive) lol. I went here recently because I was in the hunt for a new Yukata but stumbled so much beyond that…read more They were one of the shops at the Sakura Matsuri DC event that sold Kimonos/Yukatas/Obis, ect... First thing out of the way, Arise Bazaar is not easy to find but I made it easier to find. It's behind the shops in front as soon as you enter. Past the first row of places, immediately make a left and you'll see Arise. I think they did not have a sign at the time luckily it was not hard to spot ( there was a van that had cherry blossoms as a dead giveaway too ). Second, the person (Paul) who runs this shop does not open this shop frequently. If it is not a sale he is doing, most of the time you'd have to schedule an appointment for him to come out. It's a bit strange but since my visit was based on his IG post about a sale on everything in the store, it was enticing for me to check it out. They just have really limited hours so I highly suggest you go early. Third, while I am all for supporting Arise Bazaar, the items I got besides the Yukata might be on Amazon. I realized after buying my Clip On Obi that it's cheaper on there but I will leave that to your digression. That being said.. Walking in here, this is a warehouse full of antiques. From pottery to paintings, to kimonos/yukatas.. there's a lot going on here. Paul, the person who runs the store was kind enough to take time to show me where the Yukatas were at and left me to see what color scheme or design I wanted to try out. He was nice and even offered to help me put the yukata on. Since I wanted more than the Yukata, I also tried out the Clip on Obi he recommended. He was not really knowledgeable and tried his best to help me put it on securely but he offered to see if a staff member could come in to help assist in the future. After picking out the Yukata and the Clip on Obi, we looked at fans to buy and he was generous enough to let me get an extra fan as a gift. I think the total after the discount was around 200 which was a nice deal. My only complaint is that the store is very all over the place. Many boxes of things that could be out in display, there were Kimonos/Yukatas I did not get to check out and I wish I mentioned that sooner. Paul is also an expert of Kimonos, but if you wanted to get your kimono actually dressed professionally, he has to inquire with a staff member who's more prepared for that. I just found it a bit difficult to understand if it's your profession to be an expert but not be able to not tie a Kimono/Yukata. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh but I want people to what to expect. Overall my experience was great, I do want to support the store despite knowing some items could be a bit pricier. Definitely a hidden gem if you are on the hunt for Japanese Antiques!

It is located in Bowie's historic district in a very old building with a wonderful front porch and screen door that when it slams shut behind you, it conjures up memories (at least for me) of the former occupants running inside a hundred or so years ago. It is a small family-owned business. Randy Trammel is a very talented furniture and cabinet maker and his wife Jeanne- along with her wonderful mother- travel to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio and other states to find wonderful treasures, which they sell along with contemporary furniture. They are only open on weekends, 12-5 PM. I highly recommend this store. They will make you feel like one of the family with their warmth and humor. I have bought both antiques and contemporary furniture from them over the years and I love everything that I've bought. And it seems that every time I drop in Jeanne has somehow brought in another treasure. They also sell antique American Indian baskets- when she finds them. This is a wonderful store that you will not be sorry you visited. And the prices are extremely good considering the fantastic quality that you are getting. I just bought a beautiful chest of drawers circa 1820. I love to open it and think that when it was first used, John Quincy Adams was president!

On a rack of clothing was a gorgeous sweater but was sadly a size small and I'm not a size small (sigh). Our daughter collects miniatures and found an adorable tiny ceramic turtle right away. We bought her as a souvenir of our day. In the back is an area with antiques that I haven't really explored. There's a lot to see without everything feeling cluttered or "old". My travel partner ended up enjoying the store so much I ended up waiting in the (yummy) sushi restaurant nearby so she could look at every single thing she wanted to without being rushed. $50 and a bag full of happy finds later she met me for a snack in the restaurant and showed me her finds: earrings, an art book just brought in from London, items to take apart and use for her own art business. She was one happy camper. Not only that they have the cleanest and nicest smelling restroom I've met in a shop. We'll be stopping in again any time we're in the area.
