On the second visit, I tried the chicken with bone biryani and refrigerated (to be heated at home and ready to eat) Okra and found them delicious, too... Most of the dishes are home-made... I tried the food here for the first time today and absolutely loved it!! The samosas were phenomenal! The chicken in the Tiki Masala was tender and perfect! If I have to say anything as a detractor it's that I wish they had different Naan choices.....but no kidding it was very good!! So, I hate to be the outlier here, but....yeah. So with all the glowing reviews, I left the Northwest Regional Library in search of some Indian food. There are quite a few choices up and down Sample Rd., but this place had the best reviews along with very reasonable prices, so I was all in. I arrive at Salma's and it was empty inside, save a woman in the back praying. Although the door has chimes on it that announced my arrival, I waited patiently, because who am I to interrupt communication between a mortal and the Almighty, in whatever incarnation she believes. So I waited. The woman got up and began doing something in the back. And still I waited. Finally, she came out and looked at me as if I was some kind of interloper in her place of business. "Do you want something?" she asked me. She wasn't being rude but she wasn't being friendly either. In hindsight, I should have just left right then, but instead I thought, "Okay, maybe she didn't hear the chime on the door when I entered, so let me give her the benefit of the doubt." I smiled and said that yes, I did indeed wanted something, specifically some biryani! Once I smiled, she lightened up and I ordered the mutton (goat). Our interaction after that was swift and I left to enjoy it at home. Now I have eaten Indian food all over this great land of ours, and I must say, the mutton was delicious, if not meager in its portion size. However, the biryani was NOT up to par in comparison to any of the other places where I have had it, be it in DC, Virginia Beach, Vegas or Northern California. Thank God I asked for the yogurt to accompany it. Maybe she was having an off day, or maybe she scraped my food off the bottom of somewhere or maybe the food just isn't as good as most people made it out to be. I don't believe that this place has been open for years but I only found it. I love Indian/Pakistani food since I spent years in the UK. This is a take out place with only a couple of tables. It is very homie and prices are amazing. Food here is really tasty, the Biryanis are mixed with slow-cooked meat that dissolves in your mouth. Spices are not overpowering, just right. They do not have a tandoori oven, which is the only drawback. read more

An interesting takeout concept that I haven't experienced before but the food was wonderful! We picked up cold food and heated it up at home, which was super easy to do on the stove. We got chicken tikka masala and chicken biryani, both of which were amazing. The biryani was flavorful - the chicken fell right off the bone and the rice was moist. We also got chicken rolls which were SO good and made for a great snack the next day! For dessert we got gulab jamun which was really good and held up well. The staff was friendly and you could tell the food was made with care. I'll definitely go back and try more of their stuff. read more

My cousin recently moved up to coral springs and upon visiting him decided to take advantage of all the indian cuisine in the area. Usually we go to bawarchi but wanted to try something new. Since indian kitchen was closed we headed to Salma's seeing all the great reviews on yelp! We walked in and saw no one... so we decided to head out and that's when we heard a voice urging us not to leave. After asking another customer about the food we decided to stay. We ordered butter chicken, veggie biryani and what i believe is pakora in a yellow yogurt sauce. WOW! Aside from the amazing food which taste very fresh and homemade the service was incredible! The owner made us feel like we were part of the family and the restaurant was our home. I had questions about everything and he was more than happy to answer them all! So happy I found this place! My favorite spot in coral springs- the menu is small but everything is extremely tasty! Imagine getting a HUGE take out box filled with the best biryani anywhere in broward.. made with halal meat and baked for 3 hours.. for $7! I'm not kidding- somehow they keep their prices so low, literally cheaper than McDonald's, for amazingly tasty food. Overlook the looks of salmas- I can't even take off a star for it because everything else is on point! When I say the best in broward, let me put in this way; many Indian cultured places order from him for their events..he's just about always doing a huge catering order. Mahmoud the owner and his wife are great people, I always feel very welcome when I come to salmas. I do in fact call him a friend at this point. The other great thing about this place is that it's more of a take - out dive location, but the biryani is always ready so it's really quick to pick up on the way home or in a hurry. The chicken tikka masala had a strong vinegary taste and the sauce on the butter chicken was thin and not creamy. Came here for a casual lunch with an associate. Nothing fancy about the look of the place but the aroma of the food as we came in suggested a place with tasty food. They have a simple menu which I guess is because they only sell what they make really well! I was planning on cooking an "Indian" meal from scratch for my dinner party. Then I thought "why not let the experts do it?" I found Salma's Kitchen on Yelp and drove there with my mum for lunch. The husband and Wife (from Pakistan) owners are so gracious and accommodating. Ledid (I think that is the correct spelling) let me try a few samples of curries before I settled for some catering trays for a party of six. I ordered Chicken curry and vegetable biryani and picked up some sides (Okra and chick pea dal) a few days before the party. The prices are reasonable and the portions are very generous. My guests were full of compliments (for Salma's Kitchen), and weeks later are still talking about the food!! I cannot describe the layers of flavors that are in the biryani - I am salivating as I write this. On the following Monday, I was planning on calling them to thank them. They beat me to it. Ordered on GrubHub (2 orders of butter chicken plus the eggplant dish) and it came quickly but I have never been more disappointed with Indian food (normally my favorite cuisine and I've had hundreds of Indian meals in my time). But this food did not have even the faintest hint of Indian flavor or aroma to it at all, in fact the food was completely bland and the eggplant tasted awful. The bun kabob ( beef patty on a bun with toppings) is the closest tasting thing I have ever had in the states when compared to actually going to Pakistan and eating it from a street vendor.
