A restaurant can't always shine to the best of its ability with take out. But Maharaja has won me over in one night of take out! And ruined me for all other Indian restaurants I have had in the past. Not a single meal I've ever had in any Indian restaurant before tonight holds a candle to Maharaja, and I sincerely mean that. I can't wait to return and dine in. The inside is so lovely too. As we were parking in the strip mall that houses Maharaja, the passengers in the car next to us were eating samosas. Since Maharaja seemed to be the only Indian place nearby, we figured they got their snacks there. The eatery offers indoor and outdoor dining. And the decor is eclectic and cool. We were the only ones in the restaurant for a while on a Sunday at lunchtime, but soon we were joined by other diners. And like the passengers in the car, they, too, were South Asian. To me, this was a great sign. Our server was extremely polite. And she asked several times if the food was good and if we needed anything. We also got complimentary Indian crackers before our meals. And were given free warm cheese balls for dessert. We ordered the goat korma and the lamb maharaja, both medium spicy, for our meals. The goat was tender but the korma sauce was creamier than expected and a bit sweet with actual bits of raisins. The lamb maharaja was spicier than a medium level. But oh so good with a great tomato sauce that offered a scintillating tingle to our tongues. It was definitely the standout entree. And everything came to the table piping hot, including the dessert cheese ball. We were disappointed with our order of naan. It was flat and tasteless. We've had better naan from a grocery store package. While the food definitely was very good, we thought the prices were a bit high. Our entrees were close to $30 each. Everything was perfect!!! I had a dietary restriction of no salt Shami and Jenny were super accommodating. The Butter chicken is the best we had in Florida and they were so attentive to my needs. They changed what I ordered because they were concerned about how much salt would be in my dish. They settled on aloo gobi because it was the most adjustable to requirement of no sodium. The restaurant was very clean and decorated very nicely. We felt comfortable the moment we walked in. We will definitely return again. Our food was very delicious and flavorful. Big thank you to the chef for adding what was necessary to make my no salt dish very flavorful. Consistently good take out from here. I just get the Westernized classics, but I am quite picky, and the quality here is great. Chicken is tender and well cooked. Flavor is fantastic. I ordered mine medium spice, and it was honestly perfect , creamy, rich, buttery, with just the right amount of heat that built slowly without overpowering the flavor. Every bite had depth. Ordering lunch we were slightly disappointed that there wasn't a lunch menu or a small portion size but that's fine. We ordered a butter chicken, a tikka masala, and regular naan bread to go. It took about 15-20 minutes. We brought it home and we were pleased with the packaging and labeling. We loved our meal. Great flavor. In the $20 range per dish but it was made out to be for two meals. The basmati rice was cooked just right and doesn't get hard in the fridge. In fact she didn't seem happy to see us at all. Terrible attitude but this is what happens when a business hires a Haitian. Arguably the best Indian food in the Sunrise/Plantation area at the moment. Tucked away in an unassuming plaza the food at Maharaja is full of flavor and so far consistent. Food like this takes time but when it comes out, it's worth the wait. We've tried the chicken tikka masala, the butter chicken, lamb Rogan Josh, land vindaloo, chili garlic naan, cheese naan, garlic naan, butter naan, and the channa masala all soo good and each sauce having its own flavor unlike some other Indian restaurants that all the sauces have the same flavor. I really enjoy the food, the interior is nice and the signage at the door that says, "support local because you're supporting a dream" speaks to my soul. Best Indian food I have had in south Florida. The workers are kind and the place is small but nicely decorated with cute tables and seating.

Food was solid, service was excellent, price was OK. I recommend the Goat Tika Masala. Avoid the shrimp spring rolls as they were missing one thing- shrimp. I was delighted to discover this adorable little restaurant very close to my home. The ambiance is lovely inside and there also appears to be some outdoor seating as well. I was greeted promptly and graciously by Kamal, who took my "to go" order, and invited me to sit and enjoy a drink while I waited. She was gently insistent that I understood the terminology with regard to their spice level...when I ordered Butter Chicken with "medium" spice, she raised her eyebrows and kindly pointed out that "Indian medium" might be too hot for me, so she suggested mild. She was soooo right! When I got home, the food was still piping hot and delicious. The spice level was mild, but with a kick! Just right. The portions were generous enough to make two meals out of. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, the service is always outstanding. Servers are always attentive and smiling, which definitely enhances your dining experience. My go-to dishes here are Vegetable Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan Garlic Bread (A MUST TRY and pairs well with the dishes before mentioned), and Maharaja Shrimp Dish. This was our first time here tonight and our experience from start to finish was amazing! We ordered vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala, vegetable biryani, and garlic naan. Every dish was full of flavor and the perfect level of spice (we got medium on the two entrees). The dessert (gulab jamun) was also delicious. You can tell they truly take their time cooking their dishes and I've yet to have Indian food in a restaurant that was this good. Also worth noting - the portions are very generous. Can't comment on the food as our reservations were not honored. We drove down from Gainesville for the weekend and had made reservations in advance. I also called the day of to confirm and specifically ask for the patio as we had our pup with us. We arrived hungry so excited to eat. We were told there were two birthday parties and no seating. I said we had a reservation and I had even called earlier to confirm. They didn't even really attempt to accommodate. I'm sure the birthday parties brought in more money and so we weren't really a priority, but still disappointing and a shame. read more
