    Rice and lamb saag
    Fred N.

Just visiting Pompano beach for a short time and decided I wanted a break from fresh fish. Did a quick search and decided to pickup dinner from here. Food was well packaged and arrived back to where we are staying still hot. Lamb saag and garlic naan hit the spot. As usual, for me, there is enough for another meal. The reviews are not wrong this is worth a visit.

Fantastic new-ish Indian place with beautiful interior and unbelievably good service. On Friday evenings I go to dinner as part of a regular group of 4 ( think Sex and the City bit middle aged gay dudes, with 2 Samanthas but no Charlotte)...all 4 loved the place. 5 star food: chicken korma was among the best I've ever had and I eat that a LOT. I've even learned to make it at home and this ran circles around mine. 5 star service: the server was incredibly sweet and funny. I think 2 others including the owner came by to check on us.. 5 star ambience: inside it's well designed and softly lit with comfortable seating. There's even an instagram-ready red chair by the front door. Outside there's outdoor seating. There's plenty of parking as it's in an open air shopping mall. It's slightly hard to find, look immediately to your right 2 storefronts down an interior hall the minute your GPS pings with "you've arrived" and you'll find it.

We were seated quickly on a Friday evening at 7pm. Cute decor. Restaurant was clean and waiter was helpful and friendly. The Chicken Dal Gosht was delicious. This was my first time trying this dish and I loved it! It came with white rice but I ordered a side of garlic nan. I will definitely return!

If you enjoy gourmet Indian food then this is your place. My girlfriend and I went in for the first time on Friday night and we were pleasantly surprised. The ambience is nice the staff friendly and the service excellent. We started with naan, which was very much like pita bread with flavorful stuffing. Nan can be baked with a hard outer shell and served filled with steam. We also ordered the cauliflower appetizer, which was just luscious full of flavor and delicious texture. We then had the chicken tandoori and it was wonderful. The chicken was moist and delicious. Overall, this is a place. I know we will return to for both the ambience and the food.

What a gem in Pompano!! I had heard some great things about Taj Darbar as well as read good reviews here on Yelp. We decided to check out this restaurant on a Friday night. It is located in the Pompano Citi Centre, so there is lots of parking available. There are outside tables and plenty of tables and booths inside. The restaurant was decorated very nicely with lots of floral touches. We were greeted very warmly by the staff, and were offered any table that we pleased. The menu is very extensive, and the kind waiter was very nice. He explained some of the dishes on the menu. We stuck with the plant-based dishes that we were familiar with so we could compare it to other Indian restaurants. This place is definitely one of the best in Broward County. You can order the dishes to whatever spice level that you want. We started with samosas, which came with two dipping sauces. They were not too spicy and had a delicious crust. our main dishes came out without much wait. Our eggplant dish was so smooth and seasoned to perfect perfection. The Dahl was perfect with the rice. And the saag paneer was smooth with delectable cubes of cheese. Of course, everything paired well with the warm and tasty naan bread. The co-owner (Ronan or Roman?) came out to introduce himself to us. He wanted to check to make sure we were happy with our dishes. We told him we couldn't wait to return soon, and he recommended some other dishes for us on our next visit. We are going to take him up on that offer soon and let him surprise us with his showcase family dishes. It is so nice to see a great Indian restaurant in this part of Broward County. If you like Indian or have never tried Indian food, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.

You wouldn't think this place was so delicious when it's quietly tucked away in a plaza but the food here is so so nice! The service was very pleasant as well.

The food & service is amazing. I come and stop by here and there & every time it's Amazing! My favorite meal is the chicken tikka masala, 10/10!

We were given hot from the oven fresh baked naan. And it was delicious. On the buffet, there's one small section with soup and salad. Plus, there were some of the sauces, e.g. tamarind. On the other larger section are all the main dishes. There's a little bit of everything for vegetarians and for non-vegetarians. The buffet offerings vary, but the day we came, these are some of the options that I can remember: butter chicken, curried chicken, and tandoori chicken; basmati rice; rice with vegetables; fried vegetables in a batter; noodles with veggies; a spicy dal; and whole chickpeas. My apologies for not knowing all the correct Indian names for the dishes. And there was dessert, as well -- a very sweet. milky rice pudding. Service was very good -- even though it was a self-serve buffet. The owner checked on us frequently, brought us water, asked if we needed more naan bread, and made sure all was okay. Price wise, it was a very good value. And taste wise, we liked most everything. Some things were a bit spicy for me, but I wasn't complaining. I usually like to take a sample of everything on the buffet to see what I like the first time around. Then I'll go back for the items that are my favorites. The butter chicken had a very slight kick, but I really liked the sauce on it the best of all the dishes I tried. And yes, we would definitely return.

Absolutely flawless! Worth every bit of the drive…read more From the moment my friends and I walked in for happy hour, we loved the welcoming ambiance and the beautiful, contemporary take on Indian decor. Every single dish we ordered was outstanding--starting with the wings, which were honestly the best I've ever had: crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The crispy calamari was another huge hit. They use big, substantial chunks of calamari so you actually taste the seafood rather than just heavy breading, and the house-made sauce was delightful and perfectly balanced without being overly spicy. Our table ended up ordering literally every item on the happy hour menu, plus a few things from the early bird special to sample the regular menu. Even the drinks were crowd-pleasers across the board, which is rare for our picky group! My personal favorite was the "Palm Beach Problem." I'm not even a gin drinker, but I promise you won't regret trying this one--it's refreshing, delicious, and dangerously deceiving, so don't overdo it! My husband loved the "Bollywood Old Fashioned." The cocktail names are so inventive and the recipes are incredibly creative. Aside from the phenomenal food, the service was the absolute highlight of the night. At the end of our meal, our waiter brought us a complimentary dessert alongside the ones we ordered just so we could try a few different things. I've never been to a restaurant where we sampled so much of the menu on a single visit and were blown away by the flavor, balance, and care in every single dish. Ela is nowhere near my house, but it is 100% worth the trip. I highly recommend it!

In spite of the very loud music, Javier S was able to take our orders. (BTW the excellent service from Javier was the only positive of the evening!) I chose the vegetable korma because our friend said she had it before and liked it. Her husband chose a smash burger. My wife went with the Butter Chicken as she tolerates limited spice. Usually you can request the heart level (spice), but here you take it as it comes. ( I grew up eating hot peppers and currently grow Bird peppers, Ghost Pepper, and Carolina Reaper, so I know hot). My Vegetable korma was quite spicy for an entree, our friend said her dish was much spicier than her last visit. Our seeded Nan was more like a toasted piece of pita, not recommended. My wife's Butter Chicken was not mild as she had hoped for and tried to remedy the effects for the rest of the evening with several doses of Tums. I had some Chai after dinner which was also peppery. With all the hype and pricy menu, we expected much more ... loud music detracts from polite table conversation. Now we know ...
