I was actively watching my speedometer and didn't go over 7 mph at most. I have heard similar stories from other young folks but thought if I was careful I wouldn't have a problem for my buddies birthday weekend . It was really frustrating It was my buddies birthday and we had to leave after just getting everything set up. He also asked for all of our ids asking us if we were drinking even though he is a not a cop. Overall just screwed up our night and generally seems to be on a power trip. I will not come back and I wouldn't reccomend to any young folks.

Yes there are some people who live there full time, but they keep to themselves & are pretty quiet for the most part. We were there in the middle of July & very surprised on how quiet it was for campers. There is a guy who patrols the area at night on a bike, but don't go over the 5mph. limit, they take that serious. We would come back again anytime.

Finally got up to the Staircase area last week. Great time to visit, although the gorgeous…read morecampground isn't open the trails were practically empty. You have to park near the Lake Cushman day use area, as the road into Staircase is closed for the season. We took the rapid loop trail first. The trail was fun, not too muddy, and an easy 2 1/2 miles including the short out & back to the big cedar. The trees are beautiful and the waters crystal clear. We also decided to take the Shady Lane Trail, just to take a different trail back to the van and day use. This trail was nice, but it wasn't in quite as good of shape right now. The lake was lovely too. We enjoyed a nice lunch at the day use, and got gorgeous aerial pics of its clear waters and massive boulders. The Staircase area is just beautiful. While I would've loved to stay at the campground, I prefer the peacefulness of the trails at this time of year.

You still need to bring quite a bit of things.. linens, toiletries, more items like coffee cups/ pods, we needed ziplocks bags, and we definitely brought our own wood. Cabin was clean, 3 issues were: left over socks in the bottom bunk, a few mold spots on the shower curtain, and our trash was not taken out prior to arrival. I was impressed by the size, and the grounds. There isn't a lot to do here compared to others properties but plenty of outdoor things to adventure.The beach is in walking distance and you're able to clam with proper permits. Lots of deer near by. Nearest store is in Raymond, about 20-25 min away. Long Beach is about 45 min away.

We had some time to burn so came to check out Scenic Beach State Park. It was not too crowded on an early Friday morning, so parking was abundant. We wandered around the day use area and down by the water. The view is spectacular! Surrounded by tall trees and forest it really feels like you are far from everything and is very serene. The restrooms were clean as was the park itself. There are plenty of picnic tables and a well-appointed playground for the littles.

The camping is literally some of the best camping with awesome sites. It's a stunning location.
