I've never left a review like this, but unfortunately I simply did not receive a good haircut today. Hair wash and everything leading up to the haircut was a good experience, but I went in with some overgrown wispy bangs and needed a trim, and unfortunately, more and more length kept getting taken off of my bangs until they were pointing out. Comments kept getting made about my "cow lick" but I've had bangs consistently throughout my adulthood and a cowlick has never been a problem. The stylist knew I wasn't fully happy with the look, but they are bangs, and you can't add more hair once it's been chopped, so I didn't want to make a scene about something that couldn't be changed. Another stylist stepped in to help as much as she could. I tipped accordingly because I do know that things happen. I wasn't even going to leave a comment until I got home and looked in the mirror and when I pushed the hair to my shoulders, it was all uneven length and flipping out like a 90s retro look. I'm very thankful I found an excellent and experienced stylist like Jared. A lot of stylists are generalist. Then you have some that are excellent and proficient in color. A few enjoy providing updo's and have mastered that art. I've had a challenge finding one that provides a great haircut on a consistent basis. Jared is that "one" that never seems to have a bad "haircut" day. I've ran into him throughout my time in the Knoxville area and find that he's worth traveling to see for a great haircut. I wish I could say something besides what I am about to. Despite working to "recondition" my hair and make it something other than the hot mess Salon Azure created, it's STILL a hot mess. It's been some time since I was there last - April, I think - I really didn't see much point in returning, since they made it quite clear that they didn't intend to do anything beyond what they had already done during that last visit. Like divorces and train wrecks prove, there are some things that cannot BE fixed. Some things are so completely ruined that they cannot ever be UN-ruined. That's the state of my hair. After weekly visits for conditioning treatments in preparation for a "color repair" appointment, all that's left is wreckage. Broken off pieces, irreparable hair damage, and my hair falling out. The color was STILL yellow and brown, just in MUCH worse condition. FACT: my hair is TRASHED. FACT: Salon Azure trashed it. Ask anyone who has ever known me - my hair has ALWAYS BEEN THICK AND HEALTHY - until Salon Azure. I've started using Rogaine and taking biotin supplements. Thanks for nothing, y'all. Finally, a sympathetic friend ordered a pastel silver Overtone kit (which I used immediately) and I discovered some temporary spray-on color made by L'Oreal. That's right. Overtone and spray-on color - I should have gone with THAT to start with instead of spending hundreds of dollars for the pleasure of getting my hair shredded by professionals. I have waited since April to write this review, hoping that the condition of my hair would improve, or at least I would be less upset about it. Here we are, in the middle of July, and my hair has not improved, nor is it likely to. Hair only grows about six inches a year, and considering that my hair USED to be past shoulder length ... yeah. My hair MIGHT be back to "normal" in about three years. Unless and until that happy day arrives, I'm left to clean up the mess they left me to deal with. Bottom line? My mother has been going here for 15 years and she recently got her hair done 3 days ago. She has never had a problem until now, they burned her hair off with the heat lamp ,she was getting highlights, because they forgot to check up on her and they had the learning assistant doing the stylist's job , checking on her hair. They then continued to let her sit after she let them know her scalp was burning. After that they never informed her that parts of her hair had broken off, until she had gotten home and noticed herself. I understand that the assistants are there to learn but it's unacceptable to let a costumer go home with damaged hair and denying that there's damage. I also noted to the receptionist that my mother wanted a specific senior stylist not a learning assistant. read more

Massage and facial. I have been going for 2.5 years but this shop is under new ownership. Staff is rude to customers and not worthy of your dollars !!!!!!!! It is mainly the office manager and the front staff that are pompous and attitude never apologize for mistakes they make and scheduling and then talk down to you and kick you out of the store if they don't like you questioning what they're doing. Last week I visited this salon for the first time. The atmosphere is very trendy and stylish. I walked in with shoulder length brunette hair and asked for my hair to be dyed purple ombré. My stylist was named Anna and she was very kind and warm. She asked me many questions before even beginning to cut and color my hair in order to make sure that she brought my exact vision to life. I am so happy I was placed with her! She was kind, funny, sweet, and she accomplished EXACTLY what I was wanting. Today I went in for a touch up and she recolored all the purple for me and styled my hair beautifully I honestly couldn't have imagined my hair better. If you go please ask for Anna! She's wonderful! Also while my hair color was being processed I was given a complimentary hand massage. AND my stylist gave me free samples of their color protecting shampoo and conditioner. The products are great! Is this salon pricey? A little, however it is 100% worth every penny. read more

I have been to salon Azure a few times now, and Jaida has always cut my hair. She does a great job every time, and I've never left unhappy. She doesn't do color, so when I wanted to add highlights recently she referred me to Ciarra. I had a perm done a couple years before, so they did a color test and decided my hair wasn't grown out enough to add color (it would break too easily). I came back a few months later, and after rechecking the color test I was good to go. Ciarra did a phenomenal job with my highlights, I've never been so pleased before. 10/10 recommend Ciarra and Jaida!!! read more

First timer and last timer to this salon! Came in for a cut/color (ombré style). My colorist literally had no clue what she was doing. She prepared the color ( way too dark... my ombré color ended up DARKER than my natural color lol!) and she had no idea how to correctly complete the ombré style. We had to schedule a follow up appt to fix the color (...Which was complimentary) where I HAD TO EDUCATE her on how to do ombré. Lol needless to say, it was a pretty bad color job but I mustered through the experience. The cut wasn't bad... Or good. Just your average run of the mill/boring cut you could get at "great clips" for a fourth the price. Recommendation for mgmt: your salon is beautiful and in a great location! Staff is quite friendly also.... But please invest in your folks so they are up to date on how to deliver new techniques/style trends. read more

This salon is GORGEOUS but my "trusted" hairstylist of over 1 year ruined my hair. After cutting my hair with the same style for almost 1 whole year, on a regular basis, she massively screwed up and left me with a haircut that looks like two separate haircuts and has taken almost 7 months to start to look normal again. I've had 2 other stylists try to repair it, as they lovingly chuckle a little looking at it in disbelief, to no avail. For now I am staying away from any hair cutter until it regains some sense of normalcy. I will not return to Salon Azure, either. Too bad because I really enjoyed going there. read more

They also offered me a free touch-up the next week, just to make sure that I was liking my new cut. The price was also right. Perhaps a little high for the area, but well worth it for what you get. $45 for a haircut, which included the followup visit AND a neck massage. The reason I only gave 4 stars is the fact that, for all the years I have been going there, neither owner has acknowledged me - EVER! Never thanked me for the business, smiled at me, or anything. My review is actually from a few years ago before the Yelp days. But it was so awful I felt the need to come warn others since I've met several people over the years with similar nightmares. The short of it, the 'colorist' fried my hair beyond repair. It literally was falling out for weeks, I had to spend a small fortune in products to repair it. But I just had to grow it out. She also managed to get bleach on my shirt and pants then when rinsing it soaked into my underwear! So ruined over $100 worth of clothes and when leaving and I said I wasn't paying for fried hair and an entire ruined outfit; they said they would call the cops. Lol. As you can see from my pic, the hair recovered and grew out, but it took almost a year, and about $250 of Joico products. read more

I was excited to get a summer hair cut. Went in with pictures of exactly what I wanted. My stylist was Ebony, she gave me a warm greeting. Apparently she has been working Azure Salon for 14 years with speciality of cutting hair, however there was no evidence after I left her chair. Her work was EXTREMELY SLOPPY!!! She was obviously in a hurry, she indicated she was running behind, did not have time to style hair after lousy haircut. Just a really LOUSY hair cut. My appointment was early at 0930. How does anyone start off behind? I was nice enough to give her a $15 tip in addition to the $85. My tip to you is to not receive service from EBONY, she's complacent after 14 years of working for Azure Salon. This stylist wants to get as many clients in her chair as possible $$$$. Quality of work is AWFUL. This was my 1st & last visit. I will NEVER utilize this establishment again. This stylist is a poor representation of Azure Salon. This establishment is so UNPROFESSIONAL, spoke with Amanda (office manager). She didn't want to make the situation better or thank me for $83 plus additional $15 tip. She wanted to ague with me!!!! I have had 2 good haircuts at Salon Azure. However, I just left the salon after waiting 20 minutes for the stylist. No one acknowledged that was I waiting for such a long time. I understand that waiting happens sometimes, but I was upset no one let me know the stylist was running late or how much longer she would be. Considering I have to a hire a babysitter to get my hair cut and now I have still have to pay the sitter and don't have my hair cut, I won't be back. read more

I've had mens haircuts at both this Aveda store and also at Natural Alternatives. Both do a good job, I'd say equivalently. That said, they are probably among the better places to get a mens haircut in Knoxville, but are by no means spectacular if you've ever lived in more cosmopolitan places. Standard service is free coffee, drinks when you arrive. A neck, scalp massage. They'll wash your hair, cut and trim it, and then wash it again and style it. They offer several different "levels" of cuts, I usually just get whatever is around $20-25. That way I can get out for less than or equal to $30. More than $30 for a guys cut...all said and done is excessive, unless you are John Edwards. Another great perk they offer is free trimming between cuts. I usually get my hair cut once every 8 weeks, so this allows me to still look respectable during the time in-between. read more

I was welcomed with coffee or tea when I came in and my stylist was ready at exactly the time of my scheduled appointment. I have been a lot of places where I have to wait forever. Sher was awesome and super sweet. She explained all of the products she used and even sent me home with a sample. I just had an essentials massage by Rachel Watson. She applied the perfect amount of pressure and identified tension in areas I did not realize I had tension until the massage. It was very therapeutic without being painful. I have neck pain from job-related stress and tension related to holding my head down reading and working on the computer for my work. I left with my neck pain relieved and I felt taller because my neck felt longer. Also, Ebony is an amazing stylist. She really has an eye and skill for cutting hair to flatter your face. She does it so quickly and easily too. She's particularly good with cutting bangs that will flatter you because she seems to me to have an eye for shapes and angles that are flattering and the small snips that make an overall big difference in how flattering a cut is for your face - particularly important with short cuts or bangs. I had a somewhat negative experience with the masseuse at the Alcoa location, and the hostesses there picked up on the issue without me complaining to them. They actually called me to ask if everything was alright. When they heard about the awkward and uncomfortable interaction I had with their provider - they made it right by booking me with Rachel a few days later at the Bearden location. read more

I went in April 7th because my hair was medium brown to blonde ombré and I didn't trust myself bleaching my hair especially since it was so long. It was yellow and warm toned and I wanted it ashy and actual blonde and not yellow blonde. jessica , the "specialist" told me it would take 4 appointments to get to where I wanted to be and I was completely fine with that because I didn't wanna fuck my hair up. Jessica backcombed bleached my entire head in foils processed under heat for almost an hour!!!! The bottom of my hair was already blonde and did not need to be in foils processed for that long!! She washed it out and "toned" it and as she pulled my hair out of the towel I could see how stringy and dead about 3 inches of my hair was. As she's blow drying and pulling hair out from the bottom she keeps telling me "yeah your gonna need a little bit of a trim.." a little?! I payed and left trusting what she did and never went back for my second appointment! I went home and did an olaplex no 3 treatment because she suggested to do so and after washing it out and combing it with a comb my hair was coming out in CLUMPS because it was so dead. I had to overal cut about 6 inches off my hair and I'm so disappointed. I emailed them and told them the situation and they told me they would give me 5 free hair intense treatments and a free haircut a haircut?! I just lost half my length because your stylist doesn't know what she's doing! I replied and asked for a refund for spending so much money for an ombré that I pretty much lost and they ignored my emails completely after asking for a refund! Call me crazy for Aveda products, but I love them, the smell and at the point every salon I've been to that sells them. My salon visits are far and few inbetween the growing out of my hair and I'm also particular about who cuts it so I will pay for it. Love Salon Azure and Ebony my stylists who is no-nonsense when she cuts my hair. I've only gone there for a cut and style so I can't speak about any other service but I've always been happy with the results, and the rest of the staff is nice and relatively down-to-earth. read more

I will say that this is a very nice salon in some ways. The decor is modern. Everything is clean and bright. The front desk staff greeted me warmly and offered me a beverage. My stylist gave me a great scalp massage during the shampoo. My cut and style was very good. All of these things are not to be discounted. However, I personally didn't care for the product push of this place. Yes, I realize selling products is a stylist's job. I enjoy learning what has been used during my service. But if I say that I can't afford to invest in products at the moment I don't expect to continue to be pushed to buy something. Just because a different product is four dollars less doesn't mean I can buy it right now. I probably would've purchased what I liked on my next visit but after being pressured I highly doubt I'm going to come back. This was on top of being talked over when I said I would need to see what my schedule is like before I could make an appointment to come in for the touch up. I think it's great that the salon offers this service but pressuring me to schedule something right then and there was off putting. When I was ready to pay for my services there were three people at the desk. No one would check me out. After standing there for a few minutes another woman came over and took my payment.
