Luckily there was a novice stylist who was just starting to take clients who could fit me in. The salon is very elegant and stylish. A place they would offer you a glass of wine or champagne. (they didn't) The stylist did a great job. I just haven't been back because I'm too cheap to spend that kind of money on a regular basis. Supercuts is more my speed these days.

We had an appointment with Vanessa Mendez on September 2, 2025 and I explained to her what I wanted done but she didn't do that--apparently she did something according to a picture my daughter showed her when I was moving my car. The problem with the photo my daughter showed her is that the girl in the picture had straight hair, completely different than my daughter's hair. When you are 10, you can't understand that your hair won't look like that of the picture. I don't know if you have kids but I'm guessing Vanessa does not. You do what the parent says, not the child. So here's all the reasons I'm upset: 1. Although I just wanted the bottom 3 inches or so to have color, she bleached it almost all the way up to her roots in front, maybe an inch from the top. 2. Blue. I said BLUE. After the bleaching process, she started putting GREEN with a slightly blue tint dye on her hair. I stopped her and said it needed to be more blue. She begrudgingly went back and added blue but now, 3 1/2 weeks later, the color has washed out and it's an awful shade of light green. The reason why I wanted blue is because I knew the color would wash out and light blue would look so much better than this brassy green color it now is. 3. I asked Vanessa if she thought a Brazilian Blowout would help smooth out the texture of her hair and she assured me that it would but it didn't. If anything, it's made her hair more dry and crunchy than it would have been otherwise. I have had Yuko Japanese straightening done on my own hair so I know that the 2 swipes with a flat iron wasn't enough to do anything but I trusted she knew what she was doing. Within an hour after leaving the salon, her hair was poofy, frizzy and felt like straw. Mind you, this was on 100% virgin hair that had never had any treatments of any sort. 4. We spent the entire day at this salon, from 10am to around 3:45pm and Vanessa made us feel like we were bothering her the entire time. She didn't talk to us at all, except when I had to intervene in what she was doing and only in response. This outing cost me over $700 so I was upset to see that the salon is now "temporarily closed," according to Yelp. The phones are disconnected and I've gotten no response by email or Facebook. I literally feel like she stole my money since she either didn't know how to do a Brazilian Blowout or she just didn't care. In hindsight, (it was probably Vanessa's guilty conscience since she knew she was charging me for a Brazilian Blowout that we didn't get), I tipped her too well because she asked me multiple times if I was sure I wanted to give her that big of a tip. Also in hindsight, she probably wasn't worried about me coming back to complain since she knew the salon was about to close down. Google shows that Salon Soleil is supposed to reopen January of 2026, rest assured I will be driving by to check on a regular basis but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The salon is bright and welcoming and everyone we had contact with was polite and easy to deal with. I recommend this salon and Anastasia for all your hair needs. Johnny is the most genuine, patient, and dedicated stylist I've ever had the pleasure of befriending. His personality and work are amazing. He did a beautiful job on my indigo, violet, and lavender hair. He was able to accommodate my coloring appointment with shorter than usual notice. And, although the appointment lasted a bit longer than we had both expected, not once did he rush through the process nor make me feel uncomfortable. Additionally, I cannot fully express how impressed I was that he was able to transform my natural jet black hair to its current colorful state. I had been discouraged by stylists in the past from pursuing this color because I was told that the process would damage my hair. When I shared my concern of what the quality and health of my hair would be like after the process with Johnny, he was so understanding and reassuring. He was able to recommend a few products that he uses in his salon to help keep my hair healthy and vibrant. He recommended I use Viral (a pigmented shampoo to "freshen up" the color), Seacret (a spa line infused with minerals from the Dead Sea), and a leave in conditioner from his own personal hair product line. I am beyond satisfied with his work and kindness. It's been about one month since the coloring appointment with Johnny and my hair has retained its vibrancy, health, and shine. I'm looking forward to seeing him soon when my boyfriend schedules his haircut. If you are on the fence about going to Hair International and getting your hair cut or colored, let me reassure you that Johnny's salon is nothing but wonderful.
