I have thick, wavy, dark, Asian hair and the only person I trust with it is Mel! (Melissa Marchese). I have followed her from salon to salon for over 10 years and there is no one else that could deliver all the requests I've asked her for over the years. However, after leaving a voicemail over a week ago requesting a call from management--and not receiving any response--I felt it was important to share my experience. I've been a customer of the salon's retail products for over a year and recently decided to book a service for the first time. When I scheduled the appointment, I was very specific about what I was looking for and was told the stylist I was paired with would be the best fit. Unfortunately, the service left me disappointed. The entire visit--from consultation to the finished haircut--lasted less than an hour. Compared to salons I've visited over the years, this felt rushed. The end result was a cut that was noticeably uneven, particularly in the front where the long layers are visibly off. The back layers also lacked shape and don't sit well. I didn't notice right away, as the stylist had styled my hair in a way that concealed the issues--only after washing and inspecting it wet did the unevenness become apparent. I wish I had stuck with my original stylist, even if it meant traveling out of state. As it stands, I'll need to wait several months for my hair to grow out before I can have it corrected. I had hoped for a resolution, or at the very least a return call from management, but after a full week with no response, I felt it was time to share my experience. I had Kirsten Buono do my hair. super cool girl but did not received at all what I asked for. I asked for a balayage and specifically said I did not way highlights. I ended up paying almost 400$ for highlights at best that had harsh lines at my roots.. it looked pretty for highlights just not what I asked and paid for!! Went in for a perm with Cheyenne. I had a consultation with her beforehand to let her know that I've had many perms in the past and that they often go limp, that my hair is resistant to perms. I was told that smaller rods would be used to make it tighter. The day of the appointment and the rods used were ones that I knew from previous experience were too large. I commented that those were rods that were used during my last perm (which I had told the stylist many times that I didn't like) but didn't say anything more out of civility, trusting the professionals. After the perm solution sets and my hair is washed I notice my hair is very limp. At this point it's too late, my hair can't handle going through another round of solution. I made some comments about how limp it was but avoided being too explicit. The stylist was very happy with the work and was beaming with pride, I didn't want to upset her or rain on her parade. Internally it was like having a punch to the gut. To make the hair spring up I asked to have the limper bits cut off but we had to take off so much that I ended up with a length that I was unhappy with. I felt forced into a shorter length based on how limp the majority of my hair was. After the haircut the reality sunk in and I was fuming and hated my hair. I called and asked for a refund but because this business merely rents out pace independent contractors they have no obligation or ability to offer refunds. Moreso, because I decided not to express my frustration and ruin the mood (the stylist was very happy with the work) it was used against me to imply that I was just now choosing to be upset about the work, that I should have said something during the appointment. The moral of the story; good personalities don't compensate for bad work. Speak up, stylists are there to provide a service, not be a friend, don't hold your tongue for someone else's benefit. If you don't like the work, that's all that matters. I accept now that I've lost the money and I will go somewhere else in the future and be much more vocal. read more
