Without knowing for sure if I could sneak in some "me" time, I called that day to ask if they could accommodate me. Justin answered and politely put me on hold for a while. I could tell that they were busy but you know, he made a way! And he even booked me with my previous stylist- Shawna! And she did it again! She listened to what I had in mind and she worked her magic once again. I've been going to Jess Devoid for years at her old salon. She recently went to Salon Cruz. I contacted her to set an appointment and learned of her move then saw the rates. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford $85 for a cut and went somewhere cheaper. It was terrible lol I waited a couple weeks and finally called Jess. I can't rave about her enough! Not only is she a great human but she fixed my hair and made me feel like myself again. If you're reading this review and contemplating scheduling an appointment then do it! Justin is FANTASTIC! I am insanely picky, paranoid and judgmental when it comes to hair. I saw Justin after doing as much research as I could on stylists in Vermont. For one, I give him A++++++++++++++ for having a website, a fantastic website! I've come to notice that a lot of establishments in Vermont don't believe in websites. Whether it's that they don't know how to make them, how to hire someone to make a website for them or they are just overall ignorant on how the world works today, businesses in Vermont just don't seem to utilize the internet. Justin however does. You can even book appointments online, which for someone like me who hates talking on the phone, its fantastic! The salon is beautiful. Clean, organized & esthetically pleasing. The staff are all very friendly. Justin is super nice. Easy to talk to, funny and really knows his sh*t!!! My hair cut was amazing! He was careful, took his time, listened to what I said instead of pushing ideas on me (like lots of stylists do) and was overall fantastic! If you want to get the best, you will go to the best and pay for the best- Justin IS the best. Worth every penny! read more

I absolutely love this place. A little over a month ago I decided to go blonde from dark brunette - something I have never done before, I had never even gotten my hair professionally dyed before. I was on the fence between Salon Cruz or The Parlour in Winooski. I ended up going with The Parlour because it was more expensive, and more expensive is always better right? Wrong. I walked out of there almost in tears because the color of my hair looked so bad and I had spent almost $140. Luckily, I had kept my appointment at Salon Cruz so I decided to try my luck there to see if they could fix it. After looking at a picture of what I wanted Laela knew exactly how to get me there. She took the time to literally paint every inch of my hair balayage-style (I have a pixie cut so this really just seemed like the easiest option, though it did still take over 3 hours). She was very thorough, and kept having other stylists come around to check her work and give their opinion. At the end of it all I walked out of there with the most beautiful beach-blonde hair AND a handful of different samples of shampoo to help keep my color fresh! The best part - I paid $30. (This is the pricing for Tuesday hair modeling.) I'm never getting my hair done anywhere else. Laela is wonderful. And bonus - you get free coffee :) read more

First time I went in I had a great haircut, and overall good experience. When I returned the second time it took 24 hours for a return phone call, 3 times, until I was finally scheduled for a bang trim. Guess they don't have a full-time receptionist. When I finally got in for the bang trim, my stylist came in smelling of cigarettes. I probably should have said something to the stylist, but instead I emailed the owner/manager and never heard back. I understand that a growing business can't always afford a full-time receptionist, and that some people smoke. I was willing to give them a pass on all that, but when I never heard back from the email I sent I decided I won't be going back to this place. In August 2017 I booked an appt with the owner of this establishment. I asked for highlights (I was very happy with my base color, just wanted to perk it up a notch) and a cut. When I sat down in his chair he declared he did not have time to highlight my hair and would only do a all over color...I should have stood up and marched out right then. I would have saved myself the last 9 months of trying to grow out a way too short cut and a horrendous color. I said 1-2 inches off the bottom , he took 4-5! I showed him a picture of long side swept bangs with some texture what I got made me shutter..a straight diagonal line across my forehead starting at about 1 inch long, ending at about 4 at the other side. When I questioned this horror, I was told my picture was "boring"..My thoughts, 1) I never should have paid 2) he was a nasty egotist who had no reguard for his clients 3) NEVER again. If this review saves someone else from a hair disaster I will be vindicated. Nine months later I am still trying to correct the color (I found a real professional to help) but I still shutter thinking about that awful day. Volunteer to be a hair model on Tuesdays at 9am! Cuts are $15 and color is $30. What a deal! I went to Solon Cruz for the first time yesterday and I have to admit that it was slightly intimidating. First, to get into the salon you have to go through the EcoBean and Juice Cafe which just seems a little strange- you're walking into a cafe only to walk through it... BUT! once you get past that part a very friendly receptionist greets you at the salon section and are you seated in your chair. The stylist who came to practice on my hair was very attentive and really wanted to make sure that she was thorough. In order to stay on track she asked for assistance from Justin and the two of them worked together to determine exactly what needed to be done with my hair. She and Justin worked together as a team and I came away with a beautiful cut and some highlights. I really like the new look and feel but I do wish that someone of the highlights were located more towards the top of my hair. However, I wanted very natural highlights that just added dimension and that is exactly what a got. My experience at Salon Cruz was wonderful! I had a haircut by Justin. When I arrived, I felt very welcomed; The receptionist took my coat, and I was offered a refreshment. I waited in a consultation chair, and Justin came out to greet me. After a brief discussion about my hair, he seemed to already know what I was looking for in a cut! Justin's apprentice shampooed and prepped my hair. During the cut, I had a lovely chat with Justin about his juice bar. He is very pleasant and professional, and is clearly very skilled and experienced at hair styling. Justin blow dried my hair straight and smooth, and it lasted for a couple days! I was so impressed with the service I received, and I highly recommend this salon! read more

I had a great experience with Erin - she did a wonderful job with my thick/wavy hair and was very nice. I also like that Salon Cruz carries "clean/green" makeup and skincare brands like Vapour Beauty, ILIA and Kajer Weis. Knocked down one star b/c other than Erin, other staffers seemed a little cold/unfriendly. But maybe I just caught them all at a busy/bad time? I'll happily go back for my next cut and reevaluate. read more

Really was unhappy with my hair. I have really great hair and when I asked for highlights and to generally lighten up, the color wash was not the best idea for me. It did not look as good when I left, as it did when I first got there :-(. They were definitely a friendly crowd though. read more

This eco conscious salon is a Burlington gem! I love my hair stylist,Carissa! She is super attentive to my hair needs. This review has been a long time coming. I went to this salon a while ago and it will forever be the salon that I remember as "that's where I got my worst haircut". I'm not really picky about my hair and can deal with it not being exactly what I want. I had high hopes for justin but my hair was seriously uneven. My hair was literally 2 inches longer on one side and I asked for something face framing and got choppy bangs. $100 for the haircut, absolutely absurd. This is Burlington VT not Newbury street. I later called the salon to get it fixed and they couldn't take me for a week. Terrible customer service, So I said screw this and went to another salon. The stylist couldn't fathom what went wrong with this cut. All in all, I hope I can save even 1 person from the butcher job I got. read more
