I had initially given 5 stars for this place because it seemed like my stylist was great and listened to exactly what I wanted, even giving me some recommendations. But after going home, showering, and taking a closer look, I noticed that the bottom layer was completely uneven! I had initially asked for a more blunt look with some face framing. And while overall, that is the look I got, this is what my bottom layer section looks like. I believe that was the very first cut she made and she realized that it was much shorter than I asked, that she adjusted? But why leave it like this! She could've mentioned something to me or even asked if I would be ok with going shorter, but this just looks ridiculous, especially if I want to wear my hair half up-half down. I'd go in and complain to have it fixed, but it honestly would just mean taking an extra inch or two off the whole head so no thank you! read more

AWFUL. This photo is literally 1 week after getting my "foils" done. Spent 3 hours there and i left with the same outgrowth that I had when I came in. I literally would rather have paid the $ To not waste my time. I asked for foils and ash toner. I left with this on my head and have to go elsewhere now to get my hair redone. I was in search for a local salon, after moving to the burbs, that offers reasonable prices and excellent service. Then I found Salon Hype. This business has three locations, but I decided to go to Burr Ridge due to closer proximity than the other locations. It is located in the same plaza as BrookHaven. There's plenty of parking in the lot. Appointments are done by calling. I was greeted warmly by the front desk. Check in was seamless. The place has a chick and modern look. I was paired with Anna. As I went on what I dislike about my hair and what I hoped to achieve, she had a big plan for my updated look. She was nice, thorough, and detailed oriented. She has a great eye on estimating how long the coloring process would set in on my Asian-stubborn hair. I am always wary about getting coloring processing done at other salons because my hair tends to be brassy. Let me say, I was very very pleased with the transition and results of my hair. My hair feels like butter after coloring, which is not usually the case in the past at other places. The secret is this Kerastase product she used on it. So I went to work today and I felt so glammed up even though I just let my hair down! Everyone complimented how well the coloring turned out to be and how the layers framed my face so well. I usually wear my hair up at work, but today I had to show off Anna's skills!! I will definitely come back and has started urging others to check this place out. read more

Probably due to unclear communication between myself and a junior stylist regarding what I ultimately wanted. Every time I get my hair done I keep forgetting to write a review about just how awesome Rachael is. Like seriously, amazing. The salon is always clean, everyone is always friendly and it is well worth the money. Everyone is super friendly, but my heart (and my hair) belongs to Rachael. I like to change things up pretty frequently, and if something isn't going to look great on me, she will let me know in the nicest way possible. She also has amazing suggestions. I get tons of compliments on my hair color and it's always very in style. I've had ombre, sombre, balayage and now the newest thing which is ecialle. Just left the salon. Very clean and relaxing. Kristina came to my rescue! I have very thick,wavy hair and I haven't really had a great cut in a long time.Kristina listened to my concerns and really created a style and beautiful color. I have already booked another appt. with her. The only problem is you have to have cash for a tip or write a check. They will not cash your check and you can't add it to your credit card or your check. I would highly recommend this salon and as far as their prices,I thought they were well within reason of any other quality salon. The staff was very pleasant. Overall 5 star experience! read more

I have been going to Salon Hype for years! The inside is always clean and it is very trendy looking. It is a nice escape for a little to pamper yourself with water, tea and coffee available. The staff is always nice and personable. I get my hair done by Lisa who always does an amazing job! I have naturally dark hair and I am currently blonde. She always takes the time to explain the process to me and how we an achieve the look I want without severely damaging my hair. I never go a day without compliments on my color and how natural it looks. I would recommend this salon to all my friends and have recommended it to anyone who compliments me. read more

Wow, was it a waste of time and money. I showed her the picture, the front and the back of it to make sure she knew what to do. I waited far too long for my highlights after moving out of the city in fear of someone new. I have now found my new favorite salon and hair stylist! I made an appointment with Lauren based on the yelp reviews and I could not have been more pleased. She took her time, listened to my past issues, and even made some great recommendations on the highlight color and low light add ins. She took an extra few minutes to cover all of my fly away hairs around my whole head.....amazing. The results are the best my hair has looked in a long time. I agree completely with the reviewer above that this salon has the most attractive staff ever! Everyone of them is so pretty and extremely personable and sweet. This is the smaller salon that is associated with the larger Salon Hype in Lagrange that has fabulous reviews also. I am not sure how long the salon has been open, a year maybe. Its located in the Burr Ridge Shopping Center and is a lovely small salon. Personally I looove small, peaceful salons. It is immaculately clean and professional. The entire staff is professional and cheerful and bend over backwards to to the clients wishes. They listen and do exactly what you ask and explain what they are going to do! Seems simple but so many salons don't. I have been highlighting my hair blond for more years than I care to admit, 30 some years and having lived in the city and worked on Oak Street I have been to every so called high end top salon in the city. Salon hype exceeds them on every level. They have super talented colorists and hair stylists. My hair is finally the perfect blonde and it was a mess when I went in. Lauren is my colorist and she told me it would take about three appointments. She is truly talented and so sweet! I can not believe she is so young as so amazing. A friend of my moms who always goes to the best of the best suggested her. I will follow Lauren anywhere!!! Its so wonderful to find this gem in Burr Ridge. I am blown away by how wonderful she is. Everyone in the salon is super cheerful as talented as well. Its such a lovely wonderful experience to go to the salon. And every single client that has been in there when I am there always walks out looking fabulous. I have been four times now and suggest to everyone to try them! I set up an appointment with Liz and she was really nice, attentive to my needs, and seemed updated on new hair techniques and trends. I left pleased with my experience and I liked my new haircut.
