My son is three years old and has had at least 8 haircuts with the owner Xochitl. Every time he comes in for his appointment, she has a bright smile and a warm welcome. She takes her time and talks to him during the entire haircut, giving him praise for how well he's doing in the chair, which encourages him to continue. His haircut always looks great, but the best part is the care and attention she shows him. She is a complete natural with kids and it shows. Typically, when he is done with his haircut, he goes around to the other ladies and shows off his new hair. They all give him an amazing response. We couldn't ask for a better experience. I've been going to Inez for years. She's the best! I've referred so many people to her, they've all been extremely happy as well.

If I could give zero stars I would. Long story short my younger son was suppose to get the same haircut as my older son but Efrain said he had a bad cow lick in back so that's why he cut it short on one side in the back?! He should have asked but he didn't and my son isn't happy with the haircut. Hair gel can help with the cow lick but cutting it the way you did, I can't fix that and it looks like a Karen haircut which he absolutely didn't like and would have never agreed to but you didnt ask him or me. Why did you just do what you want and not ask??? Also my older son's haircut was crooked in the back. These haircuts were bad... I will not be back. read more

I like my haircut after requesting for another hairdresser. Not friendly enough, as the more experienced hairdresser was getting annoyed with her ending up cutting my hair according to what I requested. She refused to receive the tip to show how I approached her skills, however I still give tip to the other inexperienced hairdresser after trying her best. read more

Harsh & Honest Review: If i could give 0 stars i would! I went in to get mr 5 yr old daughter a corrective cut to her bangs, because her grandmother decided to take scissors to them. First off she continued to ask me what i wanted & if it looked ok or what she should do. I was needing her advice on how to fix it not my own,otherwise i would have done it myself! Oh and the best part was she charged me $20! She was the only person without a client, so i get it, maybe she was having a slow day, but $20 for me telling you want to do and cutting a few bang hairs, i couldn't believe it! Unfortunately, i will never go back & would recommend others do the same, at least not with this particular stylist. Her name is unknown, but she was the only stylist in there with unstyled & messy hair & for me that should have been my initial sign to go elsewhere. I went here for a simple blowout that an older lady did and it was BAD .. I was so surprised and didn't know what to say. Never had such an experience with a simple blowout before. I wish I hadn't gone at all and just blow dried my hair at home myself. Not only did she take forever to do it but my hair looked limp and oily at the end defeating the purpose of a blowout. While checking out her credit card machine was low on battery and took forever to charge which delayed us for the party we were supposed to go to. I wouldn't recommend this salon. read more

Since my initial visit to this salon, I've been having Aly cut my hair regularly. She does such an amazing job and I leave feeling happy and beautiful every time! Aly always listens to what I want done to my hair, and when I'm not quite sure about something, her suggestions are always on point. I also had the owner Xochi do my hair for a formal event a few months ago, and she was great. I have really long/thick/curly hair, and Xochi smoothed and pinned my hair perfectly, it looked so good! Melissa did my sister's hair for the same formal event and she's also a miracle worker, as our hair is not easy to manage. I would definitely recommend any of the ladies at this salon. read more

We love this salon. The stylists have been here forever, it doesn't seem like there's any turnover- that says a lot about the ownership (who is also one of the stylists). Me, my kids, my Mom and sometimes my husband have been coming here for years. We now usually see Melissa, who's awesome with kids (my son always resists haircuts, but she's built rapport with him and he trusts her now), and she's great with color- I've never been happy with anyone else's coloring. I'd go to anyone of the stylists too- they all are super nice, and seem to have long from, loyal customers. read more

My mom used to have her hair services done at this establishment by "Inez" She'll never go back there again. This hair person colored, cut & styled my mother's hair. She said that Inez had teased the hair & then used a curling iron to style it. I examined the style & it was a mess! It took 25 minutes & 3 people to comb out the knots Inez made in my Mother's hair. Not to mention, the hairspray was so thick, it was hard to comb out & therefore, she had a significant amount of hair loss. We used Argan oil too. NEVER before have I heard of this unprofessional & idiotic technique. read more

I have been going to Salon Karisma for more than a year now and I always make my appointments with Melisa. She does an amazing job with my color and highlights and it is so natural that you can't tell I've ever had my hair colored at all. She does an amazing job helping me look and feel younger every time I go there. Just yesterday I took my 13 year old son there to have the top of his hair done with blonde highlights (which was a part of the gifts he asked for) and she did an awesome job on his hair too. I bought the groupon and made my appointment. I was a little wary because the groupon was only for two stylists, so appointments were limited. I ended up arriving 5 minutes late, but Melisa was still friendly. I got cut, color, deep condition and style. Even though I had an appointment later in the day, she still seemed to take her time. She even had my roots sit before coloring the rest, no one has ever done that when I've colored my hair. She helped me pick a perfect color and gave me an awesome cut too. I've been to Salon Karisma twice. The first time Melisa worked on my hair, did an excellent job with my color. I had asked for her to "thin" my hair out, she did, and a few days later I noticed that my hair didn't look too good and had many fly-aways, not her fault at all. I called and spoke to the owner and expressed my concerns, she offered to re-do my cut at no charge at all. I went again a few weeks ago and got my hair done by the owner Soche. She carefully made recommendations that were beneficial to my hair in regards to color. She dyed my hair and took the time to make it just right! Needless to say, I left Salon Karisma feeling very good about my hair. I love that the Salon is located in the Village One area, which is very safe and close to my home :) I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

This is a local salon that's very close to my house. I've been there personally for services on a walk in basis, and it was clear that they were irritated that I didn't make an appointment. So this past weekend I made an appointment online for my daughter to have an updo for her winter formal. It took four days for someone to get back to me, we agreed on a stylist and the stylist called me and confirmed a Saturday appointment at 3 o'clock my daughters dance was at 8 o'clock at night. The stylist text me and asked if I could come in at 1 o'clock because she had another appointment later in the day. I let her know that 1 o'clock was too early for my daughter to get her hair done for 8 PM event. this was on Saturday. Because I did not want to bring my daughter at 1 o'clock she canceled the appointment altogether and left me in a panic and scrambling to find somebody to do my daughters hair. From my opinion the owner of the salon does not care about customer service or client return. I wouldn't make an appointment here ever again read more

So I moved to Modesto 6months ago. Didn't know where to go for my color and cut. A neighbor recommended this salon to me. I went in one day had a full consultation with one of the girls there. Left with an appointment and was amazed at the extent the girl went in to about color and the haircut I wanted. Yes this salon is small nothing compared to the one in San Diego I went to. But, the girls at Salon Karisma are friendly and they now a lot. I guess they must keep up with the latest newest trends out there. They all attend hairshows. And have the trendy feather extensions everyone is talking about. Needless to say I have been a loyal customer there since. Get my regular color and trims every month. I would highly recommend this salon. Too bad that (Steph) had a bad experience ( the previous review). Maybe she should go to a super cuts or a chain like that if she wants a cheap salon. read more
