Moved to area recently. Called and was pleasantly and efficiently checked in by Whitney and given appointment with Kacy as I requested. Upon arrival to salon Whitney gave me a tour of the facility and a welcome pkg. Kacy greeted me with a smile and was genuinely concerned to fulfill my needs in hair care especially after I told her the horror stories of the first two salons I had tried since moving here. She fixed the hair color problem I had with the other salons, gave me a wonderful scalp treatment/massage and the best haircut I've had in a while. Hadn't had Redkin color prior but it was quite soothing on my scalp. Salon seems very well run and I made appointment for next time and plan on trying the facials they offer. Easy parking right in front of salon which many other area salons don't offer. Gentle styling, quiet music, salon stations are roomy so you are not right next to another client. I've gotten relaxers since college and have come to expect burning. Kacy was wonderful change! She's trained but regardless researched to make sure the process was fresh, timed all the steps perfectly, and even provided a scalp protector mixed with a soothing cucumber mask. Love this place. I'm a guy. I have hair on my head and on my face. Was reluctant a couple years ago about switching from a Barbershop to a Salon, but quickly realized that the ladies who work here know darn well what other ladies look for and, thus, know how to make guys look their best to impress. The owner, Kacy, made me feel right at home. They have free drinks in the fridge, and plenty of stuff for guys to keep their look going on their own, after the appointment, as well as advice on how to keep it rockin'. I had previously written a negative review of KB salon after using a groupon deal. However, once the owner saw my review here on Yelp she commented, called and had me come in to have my hair cut and colored. She said it was simply "on the house" to make up for the prior experience I had had with one of her associates (who is no longer with the salon). Not only is Kacy extremely talented in coloring and figuring out exactly what the client is looking for, but she was a TON of fun! I am recommending her to all of my girlfriends and think it is great what this business is willing to do to ensure everyone who walks in, walks out with great hair and a great experience. Ok, I am a high maintenance hair customer. Mixed, long hair and traumatized by the cost cutters of the world! I met Kasey 7 years ago, I complete trust her with my hair and brought the entire family with me (my daughter was 4 at the time), even ex-husband brags about her talent and kindness! Went in for a much needed trim with a groupon. Staff was friendly, and stylist was open, no-nonsense, and not super chatty, which I really like. If you want a no-fuss, basic good job, and you'll be out in 30-40 minutes, this is the place. I heard they do good coloring jobs, too. They also didn't try to sell me any products - just answered my questions about what they use and offered suggestions when I asked. read more

We had Salon KB do hair and makeup for my wedding ceremony. I worked with Emily who was awesome. She did my consultation and was very friendly, listened to what I wanted, and in the end did an amazing job with my hair and makeup. If I could individually rate her I would give her a 5, and would recommend her to anyone looking to get their hair and makeup done in Madison. Along with Emily, the makeup artist did a very good job with everyone else's makeup. However, the rating is a 3 because of the other two stylists that came along to help with hair. Out of the 7 people that got their hair done from them, 3 of them ended up redoing it themselves and Emily had to help them along the way to make the styles work. In the end a lot of the hairdos were overdone, and many of the girls were not happy. I was made a happy bride that day, but felt bad having my closest friends and family pay for something they either didn't like or redid themselves. read more

I have had a lifetime (40 years) of having my hair professionally colored here in Madison and Houston and found this Salon a couple of years ago. I was happy with the young Stylist back then mostly because of her personality but found the revolving door of Receptionists/ Schedulers to be misinformed or untrained. I had to put up with mistakes over and over again made by the Schedulers without complaint by me but with redirecting them that I was given wrong information. I continued with the Salon because of my Stylist and not with the unprofessionalism by the Salon. I also found the Massage employee to be rude since she made comments that were offensive,when I was in her care during and after. I shared this information with my Stylist who also agreed that the Massage person can make rude comments. No one else knew of this since I did not share with anyone else other than the Stylist. A year ago I was calling again to obtain information on scheduling with another Stylist since my original Stylist abruptly left without any explanation given to the patrons. When trying to schedule with someone I did not know, I was rudely greeted over the phone with another Stylist. The Scheduler put this person on the phone without informing me of the call transfer. Considering that I have had to put up with many mistakes in the past and with the current situation with bad phone manners, I decided after this encounter not to return. When the owner called me back, I tried explaining the situation to the owner - I informed the owner that I was not going to return considering the rude behavior by one of her Stylists and the many mistakes in the past. After a year and I was hoping my Stylist returned, I called and was going to give the Salon another chance. When I found she had not returned, I then was going to reschedule with another Stylist. I was asking for prices and other information by the Scheduler. This time it seemed the Scheduler was a bit more trained. I asked her if she had my color information on hand before I scheduled. Otherwise if she did not have the information, I was not going to bother. To more of my amazement and with rude phone manners, the Owner got on the phone. I was never informed that I was being transferred to the Owner. At once the Owner accused me of trying to obtain color information. I will continue to feel that this Salon is unprofessional in so many ways .. This time it was the Owner accusing me of trying to obtain color information when I was only trying to figure out prices and the Stylists available. It just amazes me that this Salon still remains unprofessional in so many ways. ... Rude behavior, poor phone etiquette and accusations. read more

I found KB salon through Groupon, but I was very happy with my experience there. The salon is nice and well done, but not pretentious and intimidating. I went in with vague plans for my hair, and Emily did a great job, and I was very happy with my cut and color. I'll plan on going back there again. read more
