I purchased a Groupon for a haircut, and my stylist, Joyce, was friendly and talkative. I asked for a trim with layers and side bangs, but the results were not what I expected. The layers were choppy, and the side bangs were cut in an unusual way. Joyce swept a large chunk of hair to one side and cut the strands diagonally, leaving me with a mullet-like look. When I expressed my concerns, she told me to "trust the process." I left with a haircut I didn't want, and even my 11-year-old nephew joked that it looked like I got a deal on a "mushroom haircut." While on vacation I decided to check out a salon near the house I was staying at. I searched for a few places and noticed Salon Kristen was running a special on facials. I called to book an appointment and they were able to fit me in the next morning. Donna gave me the most relaxing and cleansing European facial. She was very thorough and filled the whole 75 minute estimated time. The salon is classy and decorated just enough without going overboard. I was offered water from a few different girls before and after my facial. I would have paid double for the amazing service I enjoyed here today. I had an appointment at 3 PM with Kelly Mick, but the I was not bought in until 10 minutes after I arrived. I was running a few minutes late as well, so no worries. She also apologized for running late. Kelly did not introduce her name to me or she must have said it quietly. I think she was surprise to see a young woman at a salon. I did not see anyone get offered a complimentary beverage. Very surprising for a upscale salon. I probably would have not discovered this salon if I did not buy the Groupon. This salon offers amazing Groupon specials, so definitely check Groupon before coming here. I purchases a Groupon for one haircut, style, deep conditioning, paraffin wax hand treatment, and brow wax for $19! Amazing deal! I love the paraffin wax hand treatment. Kelly told me that they use this type of procedure in physical therapy. You sanitize your hands, put lotion on, and dip your hands into the wax. Then, she wraps your hands with plastic wrap. I love the way my hands felt afterwards. I am seriously considering buying one of these wax machines. Kelly was super helpful. She asked me a lot of detail questions about how I wanted my hair and eyebrows. She genuinely made sure I was pleased with the results. She took great care of me. I love my eyebrows and haircut. She definitely pays attention to detail and has a great personality. Overall, I am pretty happy with the results. I have tried this salon many times since it's a nice salon and super close and always seem to have availability last minute. I keep thinking if I go to a different stylist it will be better. I will never come back. I found a couple hairstylists that do well but they quickly left. I have had 2 horrible, and I mean absolutely horrible haircuts there and refused to come back. I like this salon! And I'm surprised by some of the reviews. I came here for a conditioning and blow out. Kristen did a great job and also toned my highlights. My hair looked great after and she was fast! The missing star is only bc the receptionist is kind of rude. She interrupts you when you're trying to tell her what you'd like. So you may have to re-explain when you get there. I know she does this habitually because she did it to me twice and to mom too. But other than that Kristen was amazing! Called to get pricing on a hair color service. Was given the price (which was high). Asked if it included a haircut and was told "yes". Explained that I didn't want the haircut only the color service. Manager/receptionist said that a haircut is included in a color service. Told her I didn't want or need the haircut and she said they could not accommodate me. Why would I pay for a service that I don't want/need? What if a person is trying to grow out their hair and don't need a cut? She said the haircut is free with color services and that she couldn't remove a price that wasn't there to begin with. Haircut is free? Sure. Nothing is free - it is obvious that the haircut is included in the coloring price (hence the higher cost). Alyssa is AMAZING! I found her randomly when I was staying at my mom's which is nearby. I live in NYC and have had no luck finding a stylist who listened to me and wasn't insanely expensive. SO incredibly glad I stumbled across this salon. Alyssa does my partial highlights and lowlights and then usually a trim. I'm not kidding when I say I have had tons of compliments on my color. Went in yesterday to see Kelly. Not only is she pleasant to talk to, but she is great at what she does. Must I say this is one of the best haircuts I have gotten!! She cut me some layers at the exact length I asked for, went back and cut more layers after blowdrying my hair when I asked for more, and just overall spent a lot of time on me. Recently my sister bought a Groupon for this salon and had her hair cut there by Pat. She was thrilled with the cut ( believe me that never happens) sand felt that Pat gave her a great cut, was professional and gave her a great tip to keep her color looking good longer. Based on her experience I thought I would try it out too and would agree with all of my sister's praise for Pat. The salon itself is modern and beautifully decorated without feeling stuffy and making you feel uncomfortable. I took advantage of one of the specials they offered that included full color, partial highlights and a cut for just under $100 ( without tip) and have no problem paying more in the future. I have dark hair that is colored already and it was time to cover the gray again. Pat, who I believe is a Master Colorist, spent alot of time dicussing what color I wanted and was right in tune with doing highlights just a few shades lighter so that i didn't look like i had horrible blonde streaks. The color and highlights come out fabulous and added some depth to my color. When it came time to cut my hair she added in subtle layers that gave me a lot more volume on top, because I wanted to keep the length but have some more oomph. When she was done with the styling it was awesome to have some movement in my hair and not feel like I had a helmet head. I will definitely go back for the cut and color and when it's time for highlights those too. My sister in had gotten a cut with Lisa and recommended her to me. I bought a Groupon and came in. Lisa was nothing short of amazing! She listened to me and what my needs were. She completely went over my hair asking my needs, wants & concerns. We came up with a plan together. I have naturally curly longer hair that I straighten, so a good stylist who understands this combo is essential. Lisa is THAT stylist. Lisa told me every step of the way what she was doing and showed me how much she would be cutting. I wish I had found her years ago! She is my new GO-to and I could not be more excited! I made an appointment for my sister to get her hair blown out for her daughters birthday party. On the phone they told me a blowout is $25. So I made her an appointment and she left paying $40 almost DOUBLE. I called them when she returned home to ask why the charged her almost double, the receptionist was beyond rude and said "I told you it's the starting price" which was a lie. And also said it was because her hair was long. If a service can range that wide in pricing you should voice that over the phone or while your client is sitting your chair. I need to find a new hair dresser and this is not it. I now need a new haircut. I like long layers and my hair is messed up. Uneven, and shabby. I don't blame the hairdresser, because while she was cutting my hair, the lady from the front desk came up and told her her next appointment was here and to hurry. Very rude woman at the front desk, which gave me a bad impression right off the bat. I came in with an existing ombrè that I just wanted touched up and instantly, my stylist tried to talk me out of it. She was trying to get me to dye my entire head reddish brown, which was not even close to what I wanted. I never mentioned dying it red. I said I wanted it lighter and more ashy. After what felt like 10 minutes of pulling teeth, she finally agreed to touch up my ombrè, but not before heading over to the receptionist to whisper and laugh. This worried me, obviously. I should have walked out then. She started my "ombrè" and just kept saying things like, "I'm not gonna promise this will work," and "I'm not doing like, a real ombrè-ombrè, but I'm just gonna touch it up." I get that she was concerned about the integrity of my hair seeing as it had already been bleached once, but it is her job to be professional and do whatever she needs to do to make sure her clients get what they want. That did not seem to be a priority of hers. She also did my eyebrows and while I was explaining that I usually keep my eyebrows thick and bold, she was clearly paying attention to a conversation that was happening on the other side of the salon and ended up waxing my eyebrows soooo thin and sparse. When she showed me tons of eyebrow hair on the strip and said "Oh, man, you REALLY needed this," I was internally panicking. Then... the haircut. Since I was 12, I have always asked for the same thing: choppy layers, a side-swept bang, and a face-frame. Never had an issue. I wore my glasses to the salon and I have REALLY terrible vision and she made me take my glasses off while she cut, so I could not see that she was HACKING hair off. I ended up with a mullet-type hairstyle. My top layers are about two to three inches long and what's rest of my longer layers is sooo thin and damaged. As soon as I put my glasses on, I was able to see that my "ombrè" was just a thick orange stripe all the way around my mullet. I honestly was shocked. I got up, paid, tipped. Went home and REALLY started looking at what she had done to my poor hair... and cried. I sent the salon a message, but they never responded. If you want a current, trendy look, stay far, far away from this place. read more

Best experience I've had at a salon. I get extreme anxiety when I'm about to get my hair cut, so I was weary about going here. But my friend referred me and I made an appointment and was set up with Mandi. She is wonderful! She's only around 22 so definitely knows the latest styles and she made me feel so comfortable. I absolutely love my cut and would recommend going to Mandi to anyone who asks. Plus the price was only $25! Casey is amazing at formal hair styles! I had gotten my hair done for homecoming at another salon in the area, and I had walked out of there with a mother of the bride hairstyle! I had an appointment that day at Salon Kristen for makeup, so we called to see if anyone could fix my hair after I had my makeup done. Casey was kind enough to squeeze me in and fix my hair. She turned a disaster into something beautiful. My hair turned out amazing! The best kept secret in the Macomb area. I was driving by and decided to stop in on a whim, and boy, am I glad I did! The salon is beautiful and made me feel comfortable. The front desk staff was helpful and set me up with a stylist right away. I was offered a selection of great beverages, including Voss water, which is in a glass bottle, which I've never had before and it was so cold and refreshing. I got The Works special which was a full color, a partial highlight and a hair cut with a style and it was only 79 bucks!! The salon is gorgeous, the front desk woman was a little rude, but other than that everything was amazing. I had long thick hair and I was chopping most of it off. Amanda put me completely at ease. I made an appointment with Kristen on a recommendation from my ex daughter-in-law...we're still close. I went in today for a cut, color touch-up and highlight. I was very nervous because I was going from several inches below shoulder length to possibly mid-neck. In about 2 hours, I was totally transformed. The cut is adorable, the coloring and highlight beautiful. Kristen is amazing. I even got a recipe from her while I was there, and the price was reasonable. I will definitely return.
