I was recently referred to Carla Madison the owner of salon Maddison by someone who had amazing hair. I have been going to a salon nearby but was starting to feel that the prices were getting unreasonable. Not only is Carlas salon beautiful and relaxing, her cut and color blew me away. It's really important to me to love my hair and I haven't been this happy with my hair in as long as I can remember!! Carla's techniques are unique and different- techniques I hadnt seen in the past even at very bougie boutique salons. Also, she uses a color brand that I had not heard of but is very specialized and it makes a big difference. Not only all of that good stuff, but this too: after our initial consultation when I told her what I wanted- she later spent time looking at pictures and sending them to make sure we were on the same page. My roommate and I got Groupons with Quianna and she was AMAZING!!!!! The Groupon was so cheap. Only $65 for a haircut, partial highlights/sombre and style! Are you kidding me? This is normally well over $150 in the city. Anyway, it was so easy making an appointment with her. We just texted and I sent her pictures of our hair beforehand and what we wanted and we discussed all of it before we got to the salon. She took my dead looking hair and brought it back to life! She really worked magic, I'm in love with the results. I got the sombre and I wanted lighter bottoms because I already had a sort of ombre going on and she made it look great. My hair feels so soft now and looks so dimensional because of the colors she added in. She had to cut off an inch and a half and normally, I'd be so bummed out about that but with the colors she used and the way she layered it, it definitely isn't too noticeable that it's shorter and looks way better. Yay Quianna! Got a Groupon and crossed my fingers, but I'm new to the area and desperately needed a haircut and something needed to be done about my over ombred hair. Quianna was so friendly and patient, I texted her a current photo plus some I-wish photos and now my hair looks like what I had pictured in my head! You know how sometimes you come in with a photo and you talk with the stylist, but somewhere along the line, you end up with hair that does not resemble the photo AT ALL? Well, that will not happen here. Quianna asks a lot of questions and summarizes what she's gonna do before she starts. I love that. I like knowing where we're going and how we're gonna get there. And she works fast so there's not many hours in the chair (my pet peeve). Quianna was also happy with the results and asked if she could post to her Instagram. I said yes, and here's what she posted. I love this salon and the ladies who work there! I have been going to Cindy for years and she is an amazing stylist she's great with blondes and knows her color which is great as I am a Natzi about my hair color. she was a friend before a stylist and kept telling me she had a vision for my hair. I was game, and so it began, a long blonde relationship . She's incredible and has such a great vibe. I recently moved to Novato and saw that Cindy was booked through September so I stupidly made an appointment with someone here. My hair was much darker than I like and I was pretty unhappy. I called Cindy, who , I found out was leaving for vacation for a month the next day. I panicked.. She said she would have the owner of the salon Carla call me. I figured Carla would call a few days later, it was Monday..Literally the next morning she called me and I was in her chair Wednesday night.. I had sent Cindy and Carla pictures of my "brown " hair and they text consulted my hair ( remember, Cindy's on vacation) so Carla would know what she's in for. When I arrived she told me she looked at my Facebook page to see what my real blonde was. I thought that was brilliant! Carla was fantastic. Since she had done her consult with Cindy,she knew exactly what I needed to rescue my brown roots .She waved her magic wand, and I had a head full of highlights in foil before I knew it. We chatted away as she is very kind and very funny felt like I knew her for years. My color came out so incredible it looked perfect I was thrilled.She blew it out like I'd never seen it and it looked beautiful.Carla is rock star colorist and I will forever be grateful to her. Highly talented owner and operator, great location with easy and free parking, beautiful, well-appointed salon with perfect COVID compliant safety measures, and very fair pricing for the amazing service provided. Carla is absolutely the best and I am positive that you will be happy with your experience with her. More detail if you want it - I had been going to the same person to do my hair for 15 years. Obviously, I was very happy with her work. We recently moved to Mill Valley and I had to find someone new. I was fortunate enough to find Carla and her lovely Salon Maddison. I was impressed from the first contact. She asked for information in advance including a headshot and was well prepared when I arrived. The salon is very well located across the street from Whole Foods on Miller in Mill Valley. There is free parking right in front of the salon. The salon has inside and outside options. If she works on you inside, you are the only person in the place. She is talented and meticulous. I thought my previous person did an outstanding job. Carla is much better. She did not just copy what was being done on my hair, she improved it. She ever so slightly changed the color to make it better match my skin tone and even better coexist with the ever increasing grey. Almost everyone I have seen since has commented on how great my hair and color is. First my husband who never really notices. Next my daughter. Finally, the first two work colleagues I met via video conference, one being a man. What did you do to your hair? It looks amazing! I have very curly thin hair and am EXTREMELY reluctant to have anyone cut it. Taylor knew exactly what my hair could do better then I did and I have lived with this hair for over 40 years! This Saturday was my first time at Taylor Kraft. Carla is fantastic. The results of my color and cut were truly transformative. I never thought my curly, thin hair could look this good. It has volume. It bounces and falls beautifully back in place. The color has so much depth and the variety of dark to light I asked for. She was open to all my ideas but knows vastly more than me about what would actually look good, so she was able to steer me toward something totally awesome. Karla at Taylor Kraft Salon worked her magic & artistry on my hair - transforming my damaged, lifeless, super stressed hair into a cut that was amazing! Woe is me, usually, when I start to notice that the back of my head is beginning to resembe Carol Brady's. This means that I have to try and find someone to properly cut my hair, which is harder than it may seem. This is all the fault of my former stylist who decided to up and move to Montanna without so much as a toodleoo. I suppose I DID move to Vermont for a few years so she may have been under the impression that it was OK for her to uproot as well but SHE WAS WRONG. I was left in the lurch, see? I found a very lovely and reliable, albiet incredibly meticulous, replacement in Jeanine formerly of Maria Rua, but upon moving to Marin I decided that I needed a local connection. I walk by Taylor Kraft every day after exiting the over airconditioned but otherwise luxurous #4 bus and I see that all of my physical requirements for a hair salon are met: 1) No hair on the floor 2) dedicated receptionist (as opposed to whoever's closest gets the phone) 3) neat, orderly stations 4) sells a few well chosen products as opposed to either none or a gazillion crappy ones you can get at Pure Beauty for cheaper anyway So, I made an appointment and they could fit me in after work. with Leah. I had to wait a bit, as the previous client wanted her hair done with a curling iron (who does that?) but I had a great experience. I wanted a new look and knew that this was dangerous territory with a new place but decided to wing it anyway. I brought in photos which were examined carefully, as was the texture and shape of my hair and head pre-shampoo. I really appreciate this and know its the sign of a good stylist. I agree that she "takes well to direction" and knew exactly what I wanted. She wasn't afraid to ask again or look back at the photos I had brought in when she was unsure, which I was so glad of. I will definitely be back to see her, but at $75 for a cut it may have to be a little longer between visits than I'd like. UPDATE: I was really unhappy with the treatment I got when I went back and had the owner, Taylor, cut my hair. She was in a huge rush because they had overbooked and she and the receptionist were the only ones working. I wasn't greeted at all, let alone offered water or anything. She wanted to cut my hair dry, but didn't wash and dry it first. Then she was in such a hurry she WAY overtexturized it - it came out really thin and trashy looking. My bangs were cut really sloppily, I ended up having to touch it up myself later. She didn't bother brushing all the cut hair off of me, putting product in it or anything - just disappeared when she was done. It still cost me plenty. Unforch, my favorite stylist Leah doesn't work on the weekends, so it looks like I won't be back. :-( read more

Sasha is great (she cuts my hair here.) I told her that I wanted to look like a dad and not some grampa-hipster (those days are so long over for me.) I asked her to also tell me when a) I need to shave my head b) need to shave my side-burns c) something else. She laughed. Most people laugh at me. As an example, some time ago, I was dining with a friend of mine (the one that called me a moron) and he remarked that my hair had some serious issues and that it just wasn't a good haircut. I went to Sasha the next week and she fixed me. As she said, "you look like a dad with a really good haircut." That made me happy since I have been a dad with a really bad haircut for far too long. Not that I need a haircut for any specific reason other than I just want to feel and look good. As I always tell my friends when they make fun of me for spending money on a good haircut (how many years did I use good old #2?, too many), "well, nothing is hotter than a 40 year old, married dad with a bad sense of humor. So, a good haircut is for me. It is my one indulgence." Sasha is the best for all of you that want a great haircut (hipster and non-hipster, dad, mom, single, whatever). After trying to color my own hair at home, twice, and being turned away by several salons, I was thrilled that Carla was willing to even touch my horrible black straw hair! She gave a realistic consultation, giving me the pros and cons and offering suggestions. The end result was better than I could have even hoped for! Yay for finally finding someone who can cut my hair properly. I have been going to Sasha for over a year now and not only is she rad as a human being, but she takes well to direction. Sorry, that sounded bitchy, but if you're paying a fair amount for a haircut, you need to find someone who will listen and understand (I mean, YOU are paying, after all). But anyway, Sasha listens and understands and as long as I am living, working or have some connection to Marin, I will continue to go to her. Unless she leaves, of course. I am not a usual Taylor Kraft client but I went there on a recommendation by a friend because my normal hairdresser doesn't do up-dos and I needed and up-do for my wedding day. I went for a consult ($90) where Danny, one of the stylists, literally washed and played with my hair for 20 minutes. I then went back for my wedding day, which I was told in advance was also going to cost $90. The hair-do was excellent but the suprise $150 charge at the end was not so lovely. I was late, running to the church, and feeling ripped off all at the same time. Not a good feeling when you are getting married in two hours. My 5 bridesmaids paid between $50 to $70 for their dos and I got the whopper $150 charge. I'm not quite sure how this worked?? I'm pissed about it!
