I want to compliment the salon for being pro active at this time of COVID19. Your temperature is taken and Han sanitizer given at the door before you enter. I go to this salon to see their manicurist, Christina, who I've highly recommended before COVID19 because of her cleanliness and sanitary work procedures. Not to mention, her attention to detail with mani/pedis. But now, in this new working environment, she has stepped up her game. She's installed shields between her and the client for ma is and pedis. Amanda is the best. I am a hairdresser and have been since 1979. So I have issues when it comes to anyone cutting my hair. Let me tell you Amanda knows her stuff. She knows how to use the tools of her trade. She did a razor cut on me which I prefer. Its just most hairdresser's don't know how to use a razor. She not only listens to what you want but she hears you. And yes she shampoo's your hair as part of your service and does not send you out without styling your hair 1st. I had a cut and balayage appointment with Amanda Morris and she did a fantastic job! It was my second time seeing her (although my first time with her at Christiano's). She was really receptive to what I wanted (I wanted a very natural look) and does the most amazing coloring. If you've been on the fence about getting the Brazilian Blowout done, RUN, do not walk, to get it done. This was, hands down, one of the best decisions I've ever made regarding my hair. If you'd like to evaluate whether you're a good candidate for the Brazilian Blowout, ask yourself: Can I afford to spend 10 minutes blow drying my unruly, curly hair and transforming it into gorgeously, smooth, straight locks without all of the product and hassle of juggling various straightening tools to different outlets in the bathroom? If the answer is yes, then why are you still reading this? GO SEE DAVE @ Christiano's Salon! After moving from Sunny San Diego to Saturated San Rafael and tying my hair down with zip ties to keep it from frizzing from all of the moisture, I reconsidered having the Brazilian Blowout done. I needed a permanent solution and according to Dave, this was it. A friend referred me to him and since the salon is around the corner from my work, I figured I had nothing to lose. He explained the entire process and although I was highly skeptical, I was running out of options, hair product and zip ties. When he told me the price to get the Brazilian Blowout done, I was sold. If I was going to try it, I was going to try it at the $250 rate he quoted for my mid length hair versus the 350-375+ other salons quoted me at. The entire process took about 2 hours and I left with gorgeous straight hair. I'll admit that even after it was complete, I was still skeptical of the results and the real test was when I washed and dried my hair a couple of days later. I spent 10 minutes instead of 45 minutes, blow drying my hair and using a round brush and my hair looked even better after a few days of letting the product settle in. I washed it today and let it dry naturally and got loose, voluminous curls. Curls that, in order for me to get before the Brazilian, I'd have to straighten my hair, use a curler and TONS of hairspray. I hope that Dave continues to do the Brazilian at this price for the next 10 years because I will never be able to go back to styling my hair the natural way. I go to Amanda in Christianos and I am always very happy with my hair!!! She colors my hair exactly how I want it which I feel can be difficult with red. She is great with the cuts as well, and cuts it's just like the picture that I show her. The shop is very friendly, clean and bright. read more

This review is mostly for the manicurist (I think her name is Christina?) Christiano's isn't cheap, but you will get your money's worth out of a mani-pedi. I rarely get my nails done because I'm cheap, but my husband got me a gift card to use here for a mani-pedi. When I was about 8 months pregnant, I couldn't reach my toenails to trim them, so I finally cashed it in. The manicurist is very thorough and spends a ton of time on you. This is something no self-respecting woman should admit, but here goes: She did such a good job that the polish never chipped. I just let my nails grow until there was no polish left. In fact, you could still see traces of pale pink on my toenails until a few days ago. My baby is now 4 1/2 months old. Yup, Christina (I'll call her that, at least) is that good. read more

Dave is the HAIR COLOR GENIUS! I have known Dave for over 20 years and he has been doing my hair for about that long. When I married and moved away, I was NEVER able to find anyone who could do my hair the way he did. Not even CLOSE! The fact that he does not use foils is the first sign that he is not like other stylists. He has flat out refused to do certain cuts, styles, etc. citing that I am a walking billboard for his work and he will NOT do anything that will does not compliment me or look tacky. On the few occasions I felt I knew better, I got it done elsewhere and regretted it immediately! I did the walk of shame back to Dave who then 'rehabbed' my hair for months to undo the damage. Phyllis Christiano has been styling my hair for about ten years, and I was thrilled when she opened her own salon a number of years ago. It is just like her - clean, neat, smart and lots of fun. The ambiance is terrific, and everything is always in good working order, and as I said, super clean. I also get my nails done by Christina Nguyen who is at the salon. She is the best mani-pedi professional anywhere - hands down. Again, clean and tidy, and a super sweet and kind person. I will also say that every stylist in the salon fits the description above. I've been a client of Diana Weaklend for many (many) years and I just got home from my appointment. I am constantly amazed about how great she is! You would think that for as long I've been going to her she'd fall into a pattern of doing the same old thing, but she absolutely doesn't! Dave Ladresch is my man at Christiano's. He is a sweetheart and he is an expert in color and highlights. He has been my hair stylist for 7 years now, and has a range of happy clients of all ages. The prices are very reasonable and I am always complimented on my highlights and cut. The other stylists seem very nice and always have happy clientèle regulars as well. Michelle at Christianos did my hair for my wedding this last June. She was willing to jump right in and work with me even though I decided not to have a trial appointment with her. What I wanted was fairly straight forward, but needed a bit of experimentation and Michelle did a really good job. I was a ball of nerves as she was my first appointment of the day (and getting my hair done is a huge treat for me and not something I am used to.) I was super indecisive about if my hair was just 'right' during the appointment but it ended up looking beautiful in pictures and she secured it so well that I felt confident with it all night long dancing and even ended up keeping it in for breakfast the next morning.:P Michelle was also just really nice, much like a friend doing my hair and I would definitely recommend her services. I went to see Katina about two weeks prior to my wedding day. I wanted to get my color done so it looked perfect for my big day. I have been having a little bit of bad luck with hair stylists since I moved and was really hoping she could turn that all around. When I first got there she offered me iced tea, water etc. Very nice and pleasant atmosphere in the salon right from the start! She listened to exactly what I wanted and did just that. She didn't have to ask me over and over the same questions, she was very professional and understood what I had pictured. Finding a stylist that is fast yet diligent is so incredibly rare, and that's exactly what she was a rare find. Not only was she professional but she was very friendly and enjoyable to be around. I have been going to see Katina (she's the best) at Christiano's salon for a while now. She's great. Sometimes I just want a trim and sometimes I want to change it up. And with either mood I am in she delivers. She's very attentive, listens to what you are asking for and helps guide you if needed. Oh and she gives great scalp massages when shampooing - it's ALMOST the best part. Really, the best part is I look and feel great when I leave - I get so many compliments and you know a great cut when it starts growing out and it still looks good. Incredibly kind people. I took my son for a walk on a day with a torrential downpour. The type of rain that makes you wetter than if you went for a swim. These kind women saw us slowly getting submerged on the sidewalk and insisted we wait inside for our Uber. They made us hot chocolate and treated us like we were honored guests. It was really really sweet. I remember the day because I was taking my son to see Rogue One as soon as it opened. Our experience here got him to say "Wow this is the best adventure ever!" My only regret is I don't have longer hair for them to cut. The woman that took care of my son was named Jessica. But I have been meaning to thank all of you for your kindness :) PS. So disappointed with my recent cut. From fairly long hair I took the risk of going shorter and trusted the stylist to focus on seeing flattering angles and length. My hair is fine, so I requested that the cut be fairly long on the top layer, tapering in toward my neck. I need some weight so there cannot be too many layers. Oh my! I have an old lady style!! I am very unhappy. The top layer is really short which emphasizes my cowlick, with many layers down the back and a straight line across the bottom. Sides are really short and disproportionate to the length of the back. Consequently, there is no body or shape; it lays flat and has no lines or angles that flatter, and no body. I am searching for a repair haircut for most likely another $100. UGH!! Friendly salon, no problem there . Problem is how much I hate this cut. And, I took lots of pictures for her to see what i wanted.. Unfortunately most pictures do not show details of the back. I must say that she called and was willing to fix it, but I have lost trust. read more

For a guy who brags about the $3.50 haircut I received in 1993, I have become a male salon haircut advocate. To summarize my opinion, if you want to reduce length of the proteinaceous protrusions from your scalp, go to Supercuts or the like. If you want to enjoy life more (and get a better haircut), find a professional at a nice salon who cuts hair well. (Since I started getting salon haircuts, life just seems - well - better.) I was referred to Phyllis from the best source possible, a sales rep to Salons who visits dozens of places each week throughout Marin County. And Phyllis was THE person to go to, not "try her or him if you can't get into them". Of course, she does a great job! My wife is really happy with her also. One of the thing I especially like about Phyllis is she pays attention to my whole look, trimming my beard and eyebrows (that was embarassing to admit). I tell my best buddy to get over his innate haircut cheapness and realize, it is not $45 versus $15... It is grace, relationship, fun, peace over waiting, noise, thirst (Phyllis has an espresso machine, serves iced tea, and occasionally wine for those last few appointments of the day). read more
