Loved the decor and the overall vibe of the place. Will definitely be back. Services done: cut, balayage, and extensions for volume added. I was worried the extensions would be complicated but it was actually a really easy process. They are tape ins that grow with your hair. They use two different colors(light and dark) and it blends with your hair perfectly. When you buy them, you are basically buying two sets and they will last about 8-10 weeks. When you go in for your next appointment, they will change them out to your other set and then they will treat/condition your previous extensions so they are ready for your next appointment. read more

Can't say enough good things about Salon Nova! I have been with my stylist, Michael, for 10+ years and have only had wonderful experiences at Salon Nova! I tend to be pretty conservative with my cuts and style - I don't like too much change. Michael always listens and makes me feel like my voice is heard but will make gentle suggestions to modernize. There are times when I sit in his chair and tell him he has ultimate freedom - and he surprises me with a totally fresh, beautiful style! There are other times when I tell him what my hair goal is - growing it out, more volume, different layers - and he listens, executes and of course beautifies me! I don't always get color but I'll sometimes add blonde highlights when I need to have a little something different. The color they use at Salon Nova is wonderful and Michael has my color formula down to an exact science! He is always learning new techniques and it's evident in his practice - not only for color but in styling and even his cutting techniques. I feel a good cut, style and color is priceless but prices at Salon Nova are fair for the area but when you compare to other salons, you won't have a similar experience elsewhere. Care here is second to none. Well worth the cost. I never make appointments directly after my cut. Some men/women stick to a schedule and I don't! I call when I'm ready for a cut and it's fairly easy to get on the schedule but if you want a highly coveted Saturday or after work slot you may want to book a few weeks in advance or directly after your cut. Overall, I highly recommend Salon Nova. It is such a wonderful salon but what makes it absolutely shine is the fabulous staff, management and owners!! I made an appointment for a facial. They were very quick to respond and get me in. I have never had a facial so I was staying very open minded. Every one I met at the Salon was very nice and made me feel comfortable. The Salon was very clean as well which I loved to see. I made an appointment with Anthony for my facial. He was very thorough and explained what he would be doing. The entire facial was super nice! Getting the facial was a 5/5 and Anthony was great. I have no complaints about Anthony or when I was getting the facial. The reason for the 2/5 is that when I woke up the next morning after getting my facial, I noticed small red bumps on my face. I received my facial at around 3-4pm the previous day. Before I went to bed that night, I splashed water on my face and used a small amount of moisturizer since my skin gets a bit dry. 2 days later, my face was completely inflamed. I had small red bumps all over my face and neck. It was extremely itchy and irritating. I called the Salon and explained what happened. I was told it could be my skin reacting to the facial since it is such a deep clean or I was having a reaction to the products. I was told I would receive a call later in the week, but never got that call. I was considering going back into the Salon for a refund, as this facial made my skin much worse but decided to let it go. Although I regret not walking back in and asking for the refund. I received the facial on April 26th, 2019. Since the facial, my skin has yet to fully recover. I've been applying Hydrocortisone cream to help with the redness and inflation which has helped. But, my skin is extremely rough. I tried introducing my facial cleanser back into my routine, but it makes my skin extremely inflamed. My skin care routine is very gentle and minimal. The only thing that has been helpful to my skin is the Hydrocortisone. This is extremely dissatisfying as I went in with hopes of improvement of my skin, and I am still trying to repair my skin a month later. I understand that my skin can be sensitive to products, but whatever products that were used, completely destroyed my skin. If you have sensitive skin or sensitive to products, definitely ask about the products they use to see if they would be beneficial or not for your skin. Not asking prior was my biggest mistake. read more

Good service but VERY pricy for the work done. I went in for a color correction and little was done to actually fix it. I ended up getting highlights to brighten up my roots but leaving the ends (where the color needed to be fixed) alone. The highlights were somewhat streaky and were done almost a centimeter from my scalp, so they looked outgrown from the moment I left. I was still charged for BOTH color correction and highlights, plus the trim and styling. I would recommend this place for people with healthy hair who don't need a whole lot done to it. read more

I've been a customer of this salon for a couple of years now. I get pedicures, and facials regularly and have also had a brazilian blowout and lash extensions here. What I love about this salon is the service, the decor, and the value. Everyone who works here is very friendly and will go out of their way to make you comfortable. All of my services here have been great--I especially love the facials with Maryanne--so relaxing! The salon is very nicely appointed (crystal chandaliers and thick velvet drapes) which adds a special ambiance to each visit. Finally, I feel that the prices of the services are very competive. PS. I get my hair cut and colored by Shelly. She is extremely friendly, always has good reccomendations, but never does something without asking first!!! The Salon itself is gorgeous. Its a fantastic location and the owners work there and are around all the time. Everyone is very friendly and the prices for Shelly are very resonable (but some of the prices for other stylists are very expensive) One tip: don't wear your sweats to this salon! First time I was there I did, and while everyone treated me exactly the same... This is a place I would like to dress nicely to get lookin' nice! read more

Wow I was shocked to see I have not yet written a review for this amazing, gorgeous salon!!! When I moved to Milwaukee two years ago I had to find a new salon...and that is not always an easy task! I've only ever had one other hairstylist that I trusted with my life (aka my HAIR) haha! After doing my research, I decided on Salon Nova. After all, it was just a short walk down the street so being able to be lazy was just an added bonus. I got paired up with Matt, and my experience here was so good that I've been coming to him ever since! (Shout out! Matt is amazing!) The salon opened in 2009 and is located on the second floor of the building, above the Starbucks on the corner of Farwell and Brady, with Power Yoga on the third floor. It is so frikin chic inside! A little bourgeois (boo-zhee) and I LOVE IT. Silver painted walls with black trim, black furniture pieces, golden curtains, chandeliers... Ohhhh yaaaasss. Front desk area is nice with all the salon products displayed. Off of this room they also have a nurse aesthetician who performs services such as Botox, juvaderm, and restylane injections and certain facials procedures like peels and microdermabrasion. They have a little lobby with cute red and zebra chairs, but I never find myself having to wait when I'm on time for my appointment. There are a few different sections to the salon. There's a little makeup studio, a room with four hair stations, the back room with the sinks to wash out color, and finally the lash boutique. Oh yes... Just another awesome service this place offers! I later found out this place is KNOWN for their lash boutique!!! But my mamma blessed me with some long lashes so I have not experienced that service of this salon personally, but I have heard really good things and have discovered some of my friends go here and their eyelashes look amazing... Long, full, doll-like. Anyways, on to the HAIR. My FAVORITE service here is the hair extensions. They use the brand easihair pro which are premier tape in extensions made from 100% cuticle intact Remy human hair. I had only tried clip-ins before, so this was my first time getting semi-permanent extensions. With the extensions they gave me a discount on my Brazilian Blowout because my natural hair is more wavy and frizzy whereas the extensions are very smooth and sleek...The stylist was super informative and patient with me when I drilled him with questions ;-) They even sent me home with a sheet on how to properly take care of them. The extensions feel super light in my head, and I can't even tell I have them in! Except that my hair has more volume and some more length!! :-) They really are low maintenance, and I'm soooo happy with my choice of going to Salon Nova... I've had nothing but good experiences with my haircuts, colors, blowouts, and extensions....and the staff is very friendly. They gained a loyal customer!! read more

Did not even go in. I called to inquire about lash extensions because I had been thinking about them. I asked if I could use Latisse while using them. The lady who answered the phone said "yes you can but we recommend Lilash instead because of the chemical make up of it". I replied that Latisse and Lilash are not the same thing. She said yes they are the same. Sorry but Lilash and Latisse are absolutely not the same thing. I'm wondering if they sell Lilash in their salon or what. Either way, it's either uneducated or shady. Owner responded to my review in a very nice manner and has discussed it with the receptionist, which is as much as you can ask for. I got so many compliments after my application, simply in passing...Nicole looked at my lashes and suggested that I use a different size and shape of lashes because of my darker skin tone. I've been getting my lashes done for over a year and absolutely love it. Mascara would always rub off below my bottom lashes and I'd look like a raccoon. I don't have to wear mascara or eye liner (just for going out) any more! I've had great experiences with Elizabeth in Grafton and Matt at Salon Nova on Brady. I recently switched to Josh at Salon Nova on Brady because he works Monday's and it works great with my schedule. He's AMAZING!!! My lashes always look full and they last forever. I first tried Salon Nova using a Living Social deal. They are a full service salon and spa featuring lash extensions. The owner of the salon invented a lash extension system (The LiqiFan system) which I think is pretty cool. The lashes look great and they are offered at a reasonable price so I've been able to keep them for an extended time. I love how the salon and spa are decorated, lush with dark colors and classy touches. They also offer Shellac manicures and pedicures for a great price compared to other places around town. Maryanne, my lash specialist, is a licensed esthetician with many years of experience. She works quickly and I've been so comfortable during my treatments I have fallen asleep. The staff is friendly and there are extended and weekend hours so it's easy to schedule services. Sign up for their email list for deals. I had my eyelashes done for my wedding last October by Nova. They looked wonderfully plush and full. My pictures turned out awesome. I returned lately to have another associate, Nichole do them this time. She also did a wonderful job. I enjoy the friendly service.
