i got my eyebrows waxed and a haircut here! (Kenzie did my eyebrows and Emmalie cut my hair). They both did amazing!! I'm so happy! Kenzie was very good about asking me what I wanted and making sure my eyebrows looked good. I liked how she gave me a mirror to show me the results. Totally worth the $10! Emmalie was so quick! I had an appointment with Sam Meyer on Tuesday, 5/3 at 1:30 for a root retouch. I showed her a reference photo of myself the last time I got my money pieces done. Everything was fine until we came back from the toning. I looked in the mirror and half my blonde was a brassy yellow color and the other half was purple. She said, "Are you okay with the purple for a little while?" after she tried to brush it off. I said no, so she said, "Okay let's go try the clarifying shampoo again." She spends a couple minutes on that and then we walk back over to the chair. She completely doesn't acknowledge it and acts like it's not a big deal. She said, "If it doesn't wash out in a week or so, DM me and we'll make another appointment." I didn't come to have my hair this horrible purple and yellow color for a week plus. On top of that, it was by far the worst blowout I've ever had by far. Didn't even part me or pay any attention to the reference picture of the blowout I showed her. I have now washed it twice since that day and it still looks so bad - I attached 2 photos from right after my appointment and 2 more right after my 2nd wash. Anything less than a full refund is completely unacceptable in this case. read more

Eyelash Extensions by Jocelyn Arbuckle Basically my worst nightmare! For that much money you would think you are going in to get your eyelashe extensions professionally done. That was just not the case at all! I don't know if she lacks the skill to apply a single lash at a time, properly or if she does it the way she does because it's easier, cheaper and supposed to be faster. ( even though it took her over 2 hours to get them done) She doesn't glue one eyelash extension at a time, to one of your eyelashes using the proper technique. She uses pre-made fanned out lashes and applies them to a cluster of your own lashes. ( if you don't know what that is, at the bottom I have put two different links that you should definitely read) She clusters a bunch of your owneyelashes together and layers multiple pre-made fans of lashes on top of each other and then applies a ton of glue. I had dried glue that looed like dandruff in my lashes whole time. When I looked close enough to see how she applied them, I was terrified! I texted her and she she said that she only puts one fanned out lash on 1 of my own lashes at a time. (Professionals don't use pre-made fan lashes in the first place and they definitely don't layer them on top of each other) I replied "that is not the truth" and sent her a picture of my eyelashes. I received no response from her. You would think she would have the decency to offer me my money back and apologize but that didn't happen! I went somewhere else to get them professionally removed and I have very few, little, tiny lashes now with bare spots in between. They were shocked and couldn't believe that someone would apply eyelash extensions like she did! There is a chance they are permanently gone especially in my circumstances, but I guess we will have to wait and see. I waited 2 + years after cancer treatment until my eyelashes grew back long enough to get extensions again. My regular eyelash technician had no available openings. I did as much research as I could to find someone I felt like I could trust with my eyelashes as I didn't want them damaged. Joslyn said she had been doing lashes for years and based off her Instagram pictures they looked good to me. However I have serious question as if they are truly all her own pictures to be honest. Now I know why she had appointments available right away and why she is now still accepting new clients. I went to this salon because it is located near my home and thought it would be a good fit. I had Kenzie and she was very sweet but I was very specific and took much time explaining to her that I had not colored my hair and had cut it short to get rid of all the past over drying, over processing I had in past. I asked her to put just a few highlights around my scalp and the color was medium brown. I came out of the salon with blonde here. She over processed my hair and ended up foiling about 90 percent of my head. Every time I wash it , it is crinkled up on my head and feels like corn husk. My long journey of three years getting back to soft silky hair has ended in a disaster. She did do a conditioner treatment on my hair to try to fix some of the damage but it was an over the counter product. When I go to a salon I expect professional products that have been cleared by the salon. Very disappointed! read more

My daughter and I came to Provo for a wedding and this salon was the closest to the venue. We were not disappointed. The salon is super cute and has good views. Danielle did my daughter's hair exactly like she wanted and it lasted all day. She also trimmed her bangs and they looked great. She was super cute with my little girl. Alisa was fabulous. My mother and sister are hair dressers and this is only the second time I have ever paid for a hair cut. I'm super critical about my hair cuts. I have very thick hair that need a lot of layering/thining. We discussed everything I wanted in detail beforehand and she was confident that she coould give me what I wanted. She was great with taking instructions. Most impressive was how patient and kind she was with my 12month old. It takes two people for him to get a hair cut these days. He is extremely wiggle. I can't cut his hair myself anymore. The atmosphere was relaxing. It was clean and modern. The price was perfect. The rest of the staff was friendly. I have a huge problem with the salons in Utah. Hair stylists here seem to think that ratting hair to the heavens will NEVER go out of style. I've walked out unsatisfied with how my hair is styled because the girl always rats up the hair and then makes the ends stick straight so I look my head is twice the size it's supposed to be. Aside from that, all of the stylists look the same with their bleached out hair and black lowlights. The girls at Salon on the Avenue are way more down to earth and do a good job. I love going to see Stephanie. She definitely knows what she's doing, and she does it for a really good price. I was really nervous the first time that I colored my hair, only a few months ago. But she did such a good job that I love when I get to do it again. I really can't say anything bad about this place. It is a full service salon, and the room where they do facials and waxing looks a little small, but I can't really say since I haven't been in there. It's unique looking because it's unfinished inside, so it sort of gives the feel of what I see a Hillcrest, CA salon looking like. My favorite place to get my hair did. read more

I went to this salon because I am new to the area and it had good reviews. I needed a simple trim to clean my hair up before my wedding. I have long hair and wanted to keep the length and just trim up my ends. I enjoyed my hair stylist, as she was very friendly and nice; however, she made a pretty big mistake. First off, she took off way more length than we agreed on (which I can look past because my dead ends were gone so it looked healthy). The bigger issue is that when she finished she did not offer to have me look at the back. It seemed weird, but I didn't press her on it because there were several people waiting and I didn't want to make a scene. I did not realize there was a mistake until my roommates pointed it out once I got home. It seems that she must have accidentally snipped a chunk of my hair in the back! I was completely shocked, it is very obviously noticeable and does not appear to be attempted layering because the rest of my hair is one length. It was a very unprofessional mistake, and the fact that she did not make me aware of it really frustrates me. I contacted their management through Instagram and they did offer for me to come in and get layering to blend it, but my wedding hairstyle needs to have no layering for it to look right so I declined the offer. Overall pretty unhappy with my experience, but I do acknowledge that management did make an effort to make it right so I think I just happened to get an unexperienced stylist. Ok, so this salon operates on a booth rent system. In other words, the only thing consistent is the price. Each stylist uses her own products, styles, and judgment. With that being said, I've seen two different stylists--Haley and Hillary--and they've both been awesome. At $20, the price is fair, and I've received really good hair cuts both times. Since they don't get paid on store commission, they don't pressure you to buy their store's products. I thought both stylists listened well and took their time with me. In fact, Hillary spent close to an hour cutting, washing, and styling my hair. She didn't mind at all trimming up an area a little more when I asked her to do so. I would recommend this salon to any male who is looking for quality instead of a cheap haircut. read more

The girls were very nice but honestly this is my worst haircut I have ever gotten. I knew she was newer, but all I asked for was a simple trim and style. I asked that she be careful not to make my hair look thin while trimming my layers, and instead of fixing up my layers she proceeded to thin my entire head of hair. It is now about half as thick as it was before. She did not even measure to make sure anything was even when she started taking length off. It was all very haphazard. There were chunks way longer than the rest that I noticed later and had to fix on my own. After styling my hair, it was still frizzy and looked poorly done. It just did not feel like I had had my hair done by a professional at all, and I was extremely unhappy with the results. read more

They were pretty busy on the day I came in and my only issue is that my stylist seems a little rushed and did not style my hair even though everyone else had their hair styled after a cut. Went in today for a simple wash & blowdry but came back with more than I expected. I was contemplating getting a deep conditioning treatment, but didn't want to spend too much more money, so my hairstylist, Hailey, came up with a great in-between solution. She found an amazing moisturizing conditioner from Enjoy and left it in my hair for a few minutes. When she blew dried my hair out it felt sooo soft! It was wonderful. :) She noticed my bangs were in my eyes and told me she could trim them up a little for me. I was very hesitant to cut them since the last person to do so cut waaay too much off, but Hailey was very good about just trimming them so they weren't in my eyes. In fact, she was really good about asking me if I was satisfied with how my hair looked & felt. I loved how caring/concerned she was for my satisfaction. I hate getting my hair cut because it's so fine and so a little mistake is amplified. $25 is a lot less than anywhere reputable in the valley so I was wary but read good reviews (via google). I asked for Kailee. I brought a picture of what I wanted and what I didn't and she was so happy I did because it set clear expectations. She deliverd exactly what I wanted and spent a good hour on my hair. After the cut, wash, and style, I was incredibly pleased! I left a $7 tip and she was overjoyed! I would definitely recommend her. She listens to what you want and doesn't spend the hour awkwardly trying to strike up a stupid conversation. If I still lived there, it'd be my constant go-to. I get compliments on my hair almost daily! I even had a neighbor knock on my door to know about my hair! Michelle's cuts update my look every time I go in. And based on the compliments my hair must look even better than I think! My hair grows fast, is crazy thick, short (now) and Michelle helped me go totally grey. I LOVE my hair!! Here is something I've never noticed with any other stylist. Because I have short hair, and it grows so fast I could easily need to see Michelle every 4 weeks. Very friendly and good at their work. The space is also nice and relaxing, and they provide some good advice. Very reasonably priced. My only complaints are that they're not open on Sundays (like many Utah businesses) and I often forget to call for a reservation until it's too late. Still, I'm glad they're busy. The cut I got was just fine, but be careful with the color. I have been coloring my hair consistently for 6 years. I know that the dye can be pretty messy, but mostly places will put some kind of barrier cream or at least clean you up a little when the dye gets in places it shouldn't. Not here. The girl got color all over my face, neck, and ears and didn't bother wipe it off until she was washing the color out of my hair. Not to mention that when I left, I noticed a chunk underneath that still had the hair dye and it was wet! She was not very thorough in the rinse or the blow dry to notice that the bottom half of my hair was still wet with hair hair dye. I immediately went home and rewashed my hair. I don't recommend getting your hair colored here. read more
