Maria is the best. Been going to her for years for my color and keratin treatments. Within the last 2 years Ive embraced my natural curl pattern and stop getting keratin treatments. I was spending tons of money in NYC to get "deva cut" or the curl cut. I hated how my hair looked when I did straighten it. I went to maria and showed her exactly how I wanted my hair to look curly and she cut it perfectly. So much body and bounce. Also when i straighten it my layers looked amazing. Maria is the best. So I have only one Yelp friend. So lonely :-( But, I took advice from my Yelper Helper and went to Pasarella Salon last week before the weekend. And she was right. Claudia fixed my flow. She was relaxed and confident and it helped calm me. Which is good cause I'm not very good with new stylists. I probably should give more stars but as much as I liked my cut, I didn't get any lovin over the weekend so I guess my style could have been better. Or maybe I'm just being a sassy sass. I recently received the worst haircut in 28 years this week. At Salon Pasarella. I made an appointment days earlier, and someone called me back a few hours later saying they saw a note in the book that I needed to be called to book an appointment. Odd. I came in and Idaly, the stylist I was told over the phone would be cutting my hair, approached me and brought me to the sinks. She asked me if I was just there for a blow out or haircut. There was one other woman in the salon the entire time I was there, so clearly I was the only appointment for that time. I guess no one told her I had a haircut appointment with her. After washing my hair, she asked me what I wanted to do. I explained that I've been growing out my hair from a pixie cut and I wanted to keep it as long as possible while maintaining a shape. She said, "I don't understand," and handed me a bunch of haircut books to look through. Generally, if a stylist is giving me a pile of books that were published before I was born, it's a sign that they really have no idea what to do with my hair, in my experience. She points me to angled bobs with shorter backs, and I attempt to explain I don't necessarily want the back that short, but she can keep the front long. Finally, she says, "Ohhh okay I understand!" And brings me to the chair. In the chair, she tells me she is going to cut as little as possible off. Then she spends 30 minutes chopping inch-long wet slices off my hair off in no apparent order. Every time I think she has to be done because I won't have much hair left, she finds more to shear off. She proceeds during the entire haircut to do the least professional thing I think hairstylists can ever do: completely bash my previous hairstylist's work. "She put too many layers," she states. "It's all uneven, that's why it grew in so crazy," she tsks. "You need me to even it all out, that's what you need." She evened it all out alright, and in the process erased 3 months of hair growth. My hair is currently 3/4 of the way covering my ears, in a ridiculous bob that makes my head look like a Super Mario Bros. Mushroom. The previous morning when I blew it out before work, it reached under my ears. I have pretty thick, straight hair, so making it all one length is dangerous because the only place left for it to go is out. I hate my haircut. The only way to fix it is to get another shorter type haircut to give it a better shape, which I did not want her to attempt, so I didn't bother explaining how wrong it was. I hate that I paid her $45 for it. I hated everything about my experience. Including the other woman in the salon, a middle aged dance performer who was getting an updo for a performance and managed to squeeze in broadcasting her obnoxious opinions about Muslims, how Atlantic City has gone downhill since the Blacks took over, and Transgender children using "the wrong" restrooms in school in a mere 40 minutes It was very miserable, overall. Gave two stars instead of one because the pink chairs were really fun. read more

Terrible experienced! I went in and got a haircut with my cousin and none of us get the hair we wanted. I showed the lady the picture and the length I wanted and she keep saying yes, yes! However she overdid it and gave me a shortest length that closed to a bob( my hair was long down to my butt) and charged me $65 for it. Now I'm stuck with this ugly short hair and since my hair is wavy, short hair makes it look extra terrible read more

I came here a few years back with my mom and fell in love . Back then I came in with long brown hair that had red highlights in it , I left with a beautiful layered cut and blonde highlights . Now, I've been trying to achieve a certain hair color and everywhere I've gone hasn't been able to do it . Coming back here I knew I'd be in good hands, the moment I walked in she recognized me! Maria is very very sweet and so happy , she shows that she loves what she does and that makes you as the customer feel very at home. She even says make yourself feel at home with coffee and cookies! So sweet ! Her room where she washes out your hair is full of pictures she's taken with celebrities ! It's SO cool sitting there and seeing who she's met ! Very very terrible. Never will i ever go here again. First off they damage both my aunt's and my hair, they didnt give either of us the haircuts and styles we wanted, they hardly spoke English, the price they charge us was just outrageous! (250 for me, 300 something for my aunt), my aunts hair was very very very damage because of what they did, the end product was just so terrible that when we got home we both just washed our hair because it was just bad. We do not recommend anyone going here. They just want to rip you off. read more

I've been at this location four times. All four times I have been charged different prices for the same simple blowout. I don't mind paying for good service, and I'm a very generous tipper ...but I also don't like inconsistency and being scammed. When I asked why the price was $15 more than two weeks before.
