I don't leave bad reviews. Ever. But when it comes to someone's hard earned dollar, then I have something to say. I would give no stars if I could. I showed up to my appt a few minutes earlier and the reception said my stylist still was on her way. I thought hm. Ok. We all have rough mornings. It was only a few minutes past my appt that I went back to my chair. I showed the stylist pictures of what I wanted. She went back mixed up color and on the appt went. The stylist was sweet and conversation was nice. The whole salon had a whole "Steel Magnolias" vibe and I loved it. While she was sweet and the salon was nice, the customer service and work was terrible. I mentioned I have a lot of hair when she mixed color. It seemed disregarded and she went back to mix color 3-4x. I could feel the color on my neck and forehead and she left it as a last priority to clean it off. Another stylist mentioned I had color on me. And lent her color remover for me. 3 days later and I still have color on my neck and behind my ears even after using hair color remover from Sally's. When my color set she left and didn't say how long I would be there for, ask if I needed anything, etc. For a Saturday of relaxing that I either don't have the time for or can't afford, this isn't the service I'm looking for. Once she was told her next client was waiting (she was still blow drying me) she really started moving quickly and sloppily. She kept throwing her materials down so much, I was worried my iPad would get thrown in the process off of her work bench. I wondered when she would address her next client knowing we still needed to discuss my halo hair piece and she said she wanted to revisit my cut once it was dry. Well, the salon doesn't do halos unlike as mentioned online, so we talked about doing that at another time. She said something about installing it for free...but it's just a wire piece you wear. She never revisited my cut. I Wondered why she kept me away from the mirror and once I left, I figured it out. She did a Shoddy job. I've have had better experiences at beauty schools. I've lived in 2 countries, 9 states...so I have to try a lot of new places...and this was by far the worst. In the salon, I thought I liked it. I was very surprised at the contrast of colors but didn't want to hurt her feelings. It wasn't what I asked for, but I wasn't used to it yet I thought. She said she would contact me personally that day about the halo (she never did) and never booked my next appt. she knew her work was terrible... How could she not... she didn't even take an after photo despite taking a before...Once I got home, I realized my hair was ruined. It took all weekend, and nearly as much as I paid for the original appt to fix my hair ($185 with tip). I should have reached out and voiced my opinion despite my feelings of not wanting her to touch my hair again. My lesson I learned is: if you're not happy, go back and tell them. And stay far far away from Madison at Rustique. However if you need hair help... I highly recommend the ladies at Sally's. They won't rob you of your money. I write this hoping someone with less money, time, and a supportive partner can avoid this whole mess. read more

This was my first time at this Salon. Kelly did my cut, color and highlights. My hair is a little tricky, it's Hawaiian and has a bunch of different textures and a lot of character. I made an appointment but woke up with a terrible cold/sneezing/runny nose so I LM and emailed salon as soon as I got out of bed. I gave a good 2 hours notice. I was sent notice that I owed them $85 for canceling last minute! I appealed to mgt. to withdraw this charge due to sickness--not NO SHOW--but she just said NO. Fearing that this charge would end up sent to a collection agency, I paid it but emailed my frustration/disbelief/etcetcetc with this policy that this MGT. chooses to instill no matter the cause of cancellation! I'll NEVER go here and I encourage others to go elsewhere. read more

Arrived to a cold, dark building with a woman at the front desk telling me about her child's bathroom habits. The owner (?) was running the front desk and didn't know how to turn on the music. The desk is so big and high, I literally couldn't see her unless standing directly at the desk. After I was shuffled into another room to have my hair done, I could hear her and another girl cackling at funny YouTube videos they were watching on her phone. Then they made some negative comments about Obama. My stylist was 15 minutes late. She ended up bringing her child with her because she was running so late she didn't have time to bring the child to school. So... yeah. And now I feel guilty that my hair appointment prevented her from getting to school! Stylist, Lauren was very nice and fun, but somewhat unprofessional. I was never offered water, despite her going and getting her own. After she foiled my hair, she just walked away while I was processing. I didn't expect her to hold my hand and keep me company, but she didn't even indicate she was leaving the room. Overall, this place is extremely unprofessional and despite the attempt at shabby chic, looks like a yard sale. Lauren did an excellent job on my hair, and despite all the negatives I'm tempted to go back, because I'm so happy with the end result. read more

I went in to get all over color. I showed the stylist Madison pictures of exactly what I wanted. She glanced at them and said she could do it. After she applied the color and left me for 40 minutes, I started to notice that the color was about 2-3 levels darker than I wanted (and the pictures I showed her). When I said something about how dark it was, she said that it wouldn't be that way when she rinsed out the dye. WRONG! It was nothing like what I showed her. I wanted about a level 7 copper, what I got was a level 4 maroon. Instead of trying to fix it, she just made excuses and the proceeded to give me the worse straightening job I've ever had. Then she pretty much rushed me out as soon as I paid since it was very apparent that I didn't like my hair, even locked the door behind me after I left. She gave me her card and told her to call if it didn't lighten in a couple of washes. Ya right, like I'm going to go back after that. The worst part is that I still had dye on my skin around my hair line. If she couldn't have given me what I wanted then she should have said so up front so I could have found someone who would. So basically I paid $100 for damaged hair and now will have to have bleach just to get this dye out, which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place. I wouldn't ever go here for color. Save yourself the time, money and your hairs integrity. Ya, my hair is so dry now, not sure if she even used a heat protector when she took a straightening iron to my curly hair. I wish I would have read the reviews on here before I went, apparently isn't the first time this has happened. read more

Came in at 12. We were greeted and told them I wanted an underarm wax. Been told it'll be a minute. Waited 15 mins and nothing. I came to the receptionist and she told me that the girl is still doing the hair cut! They fit me in without an appointment and the stylist I got was super sweet! Their prices are very fair too! Only thing keeping me from leaving a 5th star is that my haircut wasn't exactly what I wanted. Instead of an angled bob my hair is pretty much the same length all the way around. I got a hair cute here last year and I didn't think it was a great hair cut, mediocre would be appropriate, not good enough for me to go back. I'm very picky of how I want my hair done, i explained the lady exactly what I wanted but she couldn't get even close to what I had in mind. I showed her pictures, and I thought I had explained with detail what I wanted. Made an appointment last week. My first time coming to Salon Rustique. My hair appointment was at 6pm. With Heather. I checked in at 5:50pm, the receptionist told me to have a seat. I sat for about 10 minutes and then the receptionist came back and asked me my name again. She did something behind the desk, then walked away. Came back after 10 minutes and informed me that Heather left because she was sick. I replied with so I have been sitting here for 20 minutes and I am just now being told that she left, the receptionist kept saying she was sorry and that she felt really bad. I ended up leaving and getting into my car. Before I drove away the receptionist came to me in the parking lot said sorry one more time and informed me that this never happens and that Brittney will take care of me. While getting my hair cut another client came in for her appointment also Heathers client . I must say Britney was a trooper going back and fourth working with me and her already hair color appointment. all though the hair cut didn't come out the way I planned Brittney was Awesome. And if it wasn't for Britney and Becky I would have never came back. Thank you for such awesome customer service Britney and Becky. So I give 5 stars only because they came out on top making sure a customer didn't leave upset. read more

Boy oh Boy, I guess it's only those who have had a poor experience that take the time to write a review!! I have been coming to Salon Rustique for the past 3 years and have NEVER had a bad experience or a bad haircut!! No, they don't run around bringing you water but there is a "help yourself" coffee and tea bar that is always fresh. The salon itself is very clean and well managed.
