This place was a pleasant surprise on our trip to Vienna. We had been intending to go to the Cafe Sacher and try the Sacher torte because that's what you're supposed to do in Vienna, right? Well, there was a huge line of people waiting for seats and I said "you know, I don't need to try it that bad." and we turned to walk back down the street. My husband noticed the salon and he said "can you get the torte here?" I said "I'm not sure" and we were looking in the window and one of the staff came out and asked if he could help us. I asked him if they had the Sacher torte there and he said yes, we could order that and drinks, and he invited us in. The cafe was full of people, the salon had no one but us. They'll make you any kind of drink you want (we were boring and got water and Coke Zero) and they'll dish up the legit Sacher torte for you and bring it right to your table. I got the cube, my husband got the original slice. I really liked the cube because it had the hard chocolate coating on all sides and that really made the cake in my opinion. The cake itself was a bit dry, probably why they serve it with such a huge mound of whipped cream. There were only 2 staff members in the place and they were both so nice. I feel like the people who spent all that time waiting at the cafe just to try the Sacher torte really missed out. This place was a gem and we're so glad we found it. read more
