The WORST hair experience of my life! I was originally excited because Dora had such great reviews on yelp and she got me in the next day. Initially it was all good and she warned me that my hair might be over processed to get the color I wanted but she agreed to do the best she could for my hair. We agreed that it could be UP TO $300 which of course is a lot of money but I wanted to be quite blonde. After doing one bleach treatment (which wasn't done until 4 hours after the appointment started) she decided to start on another one instead of just toning it, leaving it be and having me come back (like any other stylist would) she decided to continue WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Once the second round of bleach was off she started CUTTING MY HAIR, Without even checking if it was okay with me. I DID NOT come it for a hair cut and would have preferred to go somewhere else to get it cut since I was already displeased with the color. As the pictures show my hair now is ORANGE and about THREE inches shorter than it was before. After 8 hours of sitting in the salon being judged by this woman she says that because of all of the "added treatments" and "the price of the bleach and other products" she would make me pay and ADDITIONAL $150 which she said was cheaper that it should have been. So now the total has been racked up to $450. I am a poor college student with little to no outside support, so naturally having someone add on another $150 to an already outrageous price of $300 for a job that she admitted looked "like a bad dye job" and tried to get me to come in the next day to pay another $50-$100 to fix, is quite upsetting. I wish I had never gone. My hair is orange, short, over processed and has the worst highlights I've ever had. DO NOT GO TO DORA. She saw an opportunity to scam a hardworking 18 year old and she did it. She wouldn't let me leave without paying the $450 and kept insisting it was a discounted price anyway. My hair is ruined thanks to her and I wish I had never gone. If I can even keep one person from going to her I will. THE WORST EXPERIENCE. read more

My husband was going to Dora for a couple years, before I walked in asking for her to fix my hair. He has very thick, wavy hair and most places couldn't give him a good cut, but Dora has never had a problem. When I went in for the first time, she sat down in the chair next to me and asked, "what don't you like about your hair?". -- Everything! The cut, the color, the way it falls and I just needed a miracle. She told me what she wanted to do with my hair because it is very thin, which no other hairstylist had ever taken into account. I trusted her enough to let her do what she wanted and have loved my hair for three years now! One of the best tributes I can say about Dora is that she has been doing this for many, many years, yet she continues to pay for training. She is always learning new styles, new techniques and about new products. There have been many times that I have walked into her shop and she is watching an instructional video trying to sharpen her skills, or she is learning something for a specific client. She is always learning and that is the reason I highly recommend her. Too many people go to cosmetology school and once they are licensed they stop wanting to learn. That is not Dora. Would you return to a stylist who: Kept you waiting for over an hour? While washing your hair, soaked your clothes so badly they had to go into the dryer there? While you were still in her chair said oh I should have cut more off the crown. That's ok I will fix it NEXT time? The whole time trying to sell you on her facial products? Me either. She takes time to listen carefully to what I want and makes suggestions that will improve the end result. She will honestly tell me if what I am saying I want done, just will not work with hair. Got my haircut by Dora today. She was very honest and straightforward which I appreciated. She is great at helping you find a cut that fits you face shape. I went in wanting to cut my hair shorter and after she pointed out a few things to me she made me realize that this would make me look less soft. I let Dora do her thing and my cut came out great! Not only did she help me find a cut that's right for the shape of my face she also taught me what she was doing and why along the way. She also wanted to ensure before I left that I was comfortable with it and knew exactly how to recreate the look right down to product application. I like a lightly layered cut and she gives me exactly what I want. However, if you I want a style that will not work for you, she has no qualms telling you and instead suggest something that will work. I appreciate Dora"s vision and abilities and trust her opinion and ideas for my hair. She squeezed me in one busy day and while there, I happily waited and watched her do her magic on her regularly booked customers. There is one woman who appeared nearly bald after her shampoo and when Dora was finished, the woman's hair looked full and perfectly styled. Nora asked me how I selected her salon for my Brazilian blowout, so I told her I saw several references to her having an October special, and it's kind of expensive so I picked her. She proceeded to tell me about customers who get mad when they are charged for things they did not specifically ask her to do, like haircuts. And when I said no to a haircut because I just had one last week she kept talking about why I needed it. She didn't cut my hair though, and when it came time to check out not only did she not give me any special price, she charged me $250 when she had just charged the person before me that also had a Brazilian blowout only $165. She took some shortcuts and no one can even tell I had this hair treatment. Go back? No way!!! She must have felt she went too far because after trying to charge me about $50 for the hair mask that I then put back she gave it to me for free although she said she never does that... When I got home I looked at the bad reviews and they described my experience perfectly... from now on I'll read what the low reviews have to say too, because had I read those I would never have selected her. read more
