Before the appointment, she told me a wash would be an additional $30, so I opted to wash and prep my own hair. I went ahead thinking the quality must justify the price. The appointment took about 7 hours for medium mid back length. At first, I couldn't figure out what felt off about the style, but once I got home I noticed several twists in the back were already unraveling. I reached out and she offered to fix them, which I appreciated. People pointed out how bulky it looked and the parting was not well done. When I returned, she did adjust the middle part. I also asked if some of the twists could be combined to reduce the volume because it felt like I had a helmet on. She wasn't very open to that and said it wouldn't look good. She said the frizz in the back was due to my hair texture and that there was nothing she could do about it. She mentioned she needed to cut but did not want to without permission. I absolutely respect that, but as a client I expect to be informed while I'm in the chair so I can decide what works best for me. The twisting itself was decent, but the style is too heavy, the parting is inconsistent, and the frizz will likely cause the style to look worn out too quickly. On top of that, the uneven parting makes the style substantially less versatile when it comes to styling options. I ended up paying $370 with tip, and in my opinion this style should not have cost more than $280 even at the high end. I have to wear it half up and half down just to make it manageable. She mentioned I should have said something because the style would have been cheaper and faster. I told her I didn't know I had to tell her about the parts. I'm curious what the cheaper price would have been because a lash was getting box braids in the shop and told me she was quoted $300. Maybe it was a miscommunication, but I have never had to specify that I wanted neat, square parts. That has always been a standard expectation with braiders I have gone to in the past. Adonai was kind and did agree to fix some things, but overall I am disappointed and would not book again at this price point for this quality.

I have a stylist but she was booked and I needed to get my hair done before I hopped on the road for a quick trip. When I arrived, no one was in the lobby area or greeted me. So I walked into the main stylist room to say hello and give my name. She said someone would be with me soon. She (DeShonica) asked me what I was getting done and asked who referred me again. She said I would be getting a "complimentary" steam treatment b/c it was my 1st visit. Let me stop right here for a min... I spoke with DeShonica about a week prior by phone. I told her who referred me, I told her what I wanted to get done, I asked for the price, and she confirmed a time with me. I sent her a follow-up text to confirm too. OKAY back to the appointment day... This adorable shorter female was my shampoo girl (or so I thought), she was a chatty catty but very nice. She placed me under the steamer that dripped constantly b/c it wasn't adjusted to my height... whatever, I just put my hand there to avoid being drenched. I was under the steamer for a while, so I got out and was like can I please be rinsed. It took a while for me to be rinsed b/c chatty catty was doing someone else's hair. Again - all good no worries. I am rinsed out and asked by the shampoo girl if I had a picture of what my hair normally looks like, and if I knew what color perm rods that I use. *pause* YOU should know what perm rods to use based on my hair length. Why am I showing you what hairstyle I usually rock - just do my hair based on my request for a wash and rod set. I guess at the color rods that I use but I'm growing in my agitation. Shampoo girl proceeds to do my rod set while DeShonica is next to us doing someone else hair. The salon fills up from ladies to about 8 waiting on their hair to be done. I'm placed under the dryer, my cell dies, I arrived at 11:30 am and I ended up leaving at 4:30 pm. Here are my biggest issues and why despite her skills and popularity, I would advise going here: 1. Treat your referrals kindly. They have seen your work and clearly are hoping for a bomb experience. If someone is referred to a particular person - that person should be doing their hair. If I wanted any stylist (especially one whose work I've never seen) then I would go to a damn generic salon like Hair Cuttery)! 2. First impressions are everything as a new client. Although I have a person who is professional, quick, and manages her time well - this could have been my new stylist. Make a great impression to get that 1st timer to rave about you or come back. 3. COMMUNICATION - If I'm referred to you and you are booked with regulars communicate that OR formally introduce the stylist who will be taking over and preference their work or skillset. 4. If I'm getting a wash and style on short hair why is the cost of the service $65 (wash) and an additional $20 for a style? WTF! A damn wash and style should be one service. A add-on is a trim, cut, steam treatment, deep condition, etc. Who just gets their hair washed and dried but no style? Basically my "complimentary" steam treatment was included in the price. Nah son. I won't be back. I hate to write this but someone needs to be 100 in these reviews. If you have nothing to do in a day, then this salon is for you. Expect to be there forever and hope that the person you made your appointment with does your hair.

I have nothing but awesome things to say about the owners (husband and wife who are mature, distinguished and versed in the entrepreneurial service industry) and the friendliness and professionalism of the barbers and stylists. The set up is one conducive to being able to service men, woman, and children alike. It's always clean, the temperature is always perfect to suit the outside weather conditions, and all of the stations have operable equipment (which if you know anything about the salon industry some people don't put monies back into their business to keep it looking in top shape). Well Locs & Lineups keep their establishment well maintained! There are plenty of seats for waiting for your turn, several hooded dryers, and a few shampoo bowls with recliner style seating for the ultimate shampoo experience ever! They have cable, with a couple of wall mounted TV's that are positioned for everyone in the open area to see what's on simultaneously. There is a kitchen area in the back and a restroom that is always clean and well-lit. Overall, the atmosphere is welcoming and the people are friendly. It is located in a strip mall with several other thriving businesses along the walkway. If you get hungry while here, there are great eateries as close as right next door (along with a popular coffee shop and sub shop within the same parking lot). I'm happy to come here for services and I bring two of my children here for loc maintenance services as well.
