I really wanted to love this place but after visiting two times with two separate hair stylists, my overall sentiments were underwhelming. Starting with the positive attributes: I appreciated the online appointment option; their friendly approach to new customers; and the clean, upscale appearance of the interior salon. In both my visits, I wanted them to reshape my inverted bob and create a bit more style and 'fun' to my look. However, in both cases, I looked at myself when they were all finished and thought, "Is this IT?" It certainly isn't an inexpensive haircut at this establishment and after each stylist described in detail the cool effects they were going to create with my hair, I ended up just feeling somewhat let down. I read so many great reviews on this place and was excited to check it out. Shannon did my hair and I have to say in really disappointed. First, she did not listen to my requests for cut or color and did her own thing. The color was also not uniform. There were gaps in the brown and blonde and it's grown out horrendously. I recently moved to Ardmore and was looking for a hair salon that wasn't too pricey, but that gave a great hair cut. My husband got his hair cut with the owner, Tamera, and it looked great, so I decided to give it a try. I made a cut/blow dry/brow wax appointment with Katie F. and was NOT disappointed. Katie sat me down for a good 10 minutes to discuss my hair - what I like about it, what I don't, my daily routine, what I was looking for in a cute, etc. - and the cut she gave me was superb! It was exactly what we discussed. She also didn't pressure me into buying hair products - I did end up buying a mousse, but when I said I wanted a styling cream, she gave me a small container as sample to try first before I spent $ on a whole bottle. She also gave me shampoo/conditioner samples. I will definitely be going back to Katie/Salon True for my next hair cut! read more

I went to Salon True for the first time tonight, and I could not have been more pleased. Even before my appointment began, the customer service was fantastic. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, was offered a beverage, and my coat was hung up. Ashley was my colorist/stylist, and she was really great. Very friendly and easy to talk to. She had some great recommendations about my hair and products, but I never felt like I was being sold or pushed to buy anything. I was also pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price of my services. Aside from all of that, Ashley did a great job and I am extremely happy with the way my hair looks! I've been going to Tamera for about 7 years. When she opened her own salon, I was so excited. She's super dedicated, loves what she does and os am all around genuinely good person. Whenever I go in there I don't need to tell her what to do, she just knows and I've never had a bad cut or color. Now, I know what you are thiking "If she just knows, you must be getting the same cut and color everytime." But I'm not. She always does something different, asks if I want to go darker or lighter, but my response is always "You know best!" read more

I really wanted to like this place; a fridge with wine & soda, right up my alley! Unfortunately, no amount of wine can make up for bad cuts & color; made worse by the fact that the staff is rude. If you walk in even one minute late, the entire salon goes quiet, every hairdresser stops what they're doing, and glares at you like you're a criminal. Several times I have been in the salon, when Tamara stopped working to give some poor, unsuspecting customer the stare down. Tamara is not a nice person; once I called to say I was running ten minutes late; Tamera was so rude to me I actually cried during my haircut. Additionally, protocol is not to tip the salon owner; the owner is not an employee, therefore, they're not someone who works for tips; the owner makes money off every single person who walks through the door. I have never before seen a business owner that will accept tips from their patrons, however Tamara expects to be tipped, and tipped well, that alone says plenty. So today, after another terrible color job, and the absolute worst cut I have ever had, I will leave an open space for someone else to be treated poorly. read more

Have been coming here for awhile and I finally think it's probably time to move on. I find that in the past few years it gets harder and harder to get an appointment (which I guess is good for the salon), but I also find that the haircuts are getting sloppier and sloppier. When I got my last haircut, I noticed that the left and right side of my hair on the sides were a little uneven and that kind of did it for me. Won't be going back. read more

Not only does Salon True have great services, they have a place that when you go in, it feels like you are stopping by to see friends. They listen to what you want and give you suggestions. Years have gone by, so I am much more objective about salon true. It was a great turning point for me in what I would accept and not accept. this is truly the middle ground as far as a hair salon goes. Pluses. Consistently clean, pleasant, cooperative, nice work. The owner really cares about her work and about who she hires, and their training. The owner did my hair, and she was very good about cut, fantastic, I think. She taught me things to look for in Salons. I genuinely liked her very much. The down side for me, was that the color was great if you wanted an upkeep of blonde or brunette hair. Anything out of that range , and their idea was , highlight it until it reached some semblance of the color you asked for". They have a great ideal of wanting to give you a good experience without paying through the nose, which is the best, but, it felt like an assembly line. And I don't mean that in a " Main Line kind of way " It was all about color. I don't care what they said they could do, the coloring was mediocre. How can you "color" hair without using tone? or without offering a hair gloss? Or using different shades? the entire wall is covered in "shades" I longed to actually look like when I left, but never did. ... Their typical client was 20's blonde with long hair or 50's brunette-blonde with short hair. I honestly never saw anyone out of that range. Yes, I'm sure you were all there. I just never saw you and I went for 2 yrs.. I learned that I am not like everyone else. I found that place just a few blocks away, yet a world away. And, the expense? About the same. You get, what you think you are. I am not a salon true kind of person. And, I don't want to be. Oh, by the way , I am a mother of a 20 yr old, and almost out of my 50's but why should my hair decide to die? read more

$70 haircut (including obligatory tip) for what felt like a $12 Great Clips or Cost Cutters cut. Stylist didn't appear to have experience with straight hair. After the wet cut, didn't follow-up with a second cutting session after it was dry. Didn't show me the back in a mirror before rushing me out. Got home, and turned out it was uneven all over--what had appeared as a straight and level edge when wet, dried unevenly (not surprising, this is what super straight hair does as some areas are thicker and more weighed down than other parts). While I had brought in pictures of a previous haircut (done in another salon, different city) which was voluminous because the previous stylist had spent nearly 40 mins on just the dry cut really working with the natural movement and growth pattern of my hair--here I ended up with a flat, limp, uneven, boring, unprofessional cut. Was busy for the following month traveling for work, so I was unable to contact the salon to ask them to fix it, but honestly, I didn't really trust them enough after the first botched haircut to let them near my hair again. Prices seem high for the aesthetics and ambiance of the salon. Won't be trying a different stylist here. read more

I love This Place. Tamara the owner is who does my hair but everyone there seems amazing, and i know anyone she hired would be wonderful. They are all professional, and the atmosphere is the calmest, most client centered salon Ive ever been in. Ive been to a lot of the main line salon's from the top , to the mediocre (Ive spent too long at the mediocre) and i have never had simple excellence, reasonable prices, and felt like 5 Min's had gone by. I think its because of the good vibes . Ive never been in a Salon that just didn't have drama, or cattiness going on, Salon True has none. I friend of mine recommended this place. The first time I went I wasn't crazy about the haircut but thought I'd give it another chance. Sarah cut my hair both times and the second one was one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. She said she wasn't taking off length but the sides ended up way too textured and short. I requested "textured/choppy" bangs and ended up with one long piece hanging down and two big chunks taken out on the side...embarrassing... I won't go back and am still trying to grow in my hair!!! read more

Very disappointing experience! When attempting to make an appointment, I was told I had to make a separate appointment for a "consultation " and that had to be done on a day other than the actual service appointment. Fine. I went in on Saturday, February 10th for the consultation. We discussed that we would do a root touch up, partial highlight, and trim my hair and layers and also drop in a few more layers. I returned last night and basically was rushed through the appointment with the stylist checking her watch every 10 minutes. I ended up with blonde hair that is just one continuous sheet of color with no real dimension from the highlights. She spent 3 minutes trimming the ends of my hair and never touched any of the layers really. Worst cut ever and my hair had never looked worse and .........it's two days before I leave for vacation. I have blonde stringy hair with no style. The salon brags about the "value ". What they mean is yes they are an inexpensive option compared to others in the area but beware. You get what you pay for . Today I will have to make another appointment in the city, take time out of my work day to go get a real haircut. Tread carefully here ladies ...if you are used to a quality cut,color and style, you won't find it here. What was the point of making a separate, mandatory consultation appointment if everything that is discussed and agreed to is disregarded once you arrive? read more
