I've been growing out my real nails with gel and powder acrylic refills for about 2 years. I kept removing them and so that's why it took so long for my nails to grow. But now they're the perfect length but weak as hell. My friend recommended the SNS treatment and what a game changer. My nail technician was amazing! They first had to remove my powder and that took a while since the layers were thick. It took maybe 4 dips in nail polish remover to peel it all off. Then as my nail technician was filing them, one nail broke! It's not bad but you can definitely tell it's too short. I opted to leave it as is because it'll grow back. I didn't want to add a fake tip. SNS is powder but it's much finer than the acrylic powder. It feels like flour. They dip your fingers in the powder and flick your finger to get rid of the excess. Imagine my face when they dipped my fingers in the powder! It's like magic. I know I've referred to the acrylic powder as nail cocaine in my other reviews as a joke before but SNS is actually nail cocaine. Even the colour is a powder they dip your fingers into! They then apply a top coat. They dip your fingers maybe 2 times in the SNS powder and then 3 times for the colour powder depending on how smoothly it sticks. The nail polish coat is applied after every dip. You then get everything smoothed out with their drill machine. The end feeling is so great. It feels light and airy but your nails are strong! It's also not thick like the gel or acrylic powder. It cost me $50 with taxes and tip first time around because they had to remove my acrylic but next time it should be $35. The only con is that the SNS colours aren't as nice as the regular nail polish colours. But I can overlook that since it'll make my real nails much stronger

Found this place one bus from home and right next to school. The tech was busy so I set to come back the next day at 11. I showed up at 10 and they accommodated me early by having the tech assistant shape my nails since he knew how, and then Anna took over. It's been two weeks now, and while most shellacs I get look slightly rushed and chip within a week, this time they looked impeccable and have barely even chipped at the tips, nothing anyone but me would even notice. Quick, friendly, inexpensive ($25 cash, no tax for students), huge choice of colors, and impeccable work. Super happy and will definitely be getting all my manicures here from now on.

I went in for a refill (they tidy up your nails with powder (I call it nail cocaine) and a new polish colour) and it cost me 40$ with tax and tip. Not cheap and I'm not sure they did a much better job than the last place I went to. The place is hard to find unless you know your way around the Montreal downtown underground. It's in the tunnel that connects PVM and Centre Eaton. They close at 7pm on Mondays and I finish work at 6pm. When I got there there were already 3 people finishing up so I really thought they weren't going to have time to fit me in but it wasn't a problem. The removal of my old polish was really fast. The man had all sorts of gadgets and tools. Then he cut my fake nail tips, applied the nail powder (cocaine), and finished up with nail filling (I originally thought you file the nail and then apply the powder). The guy who shaped my nails was a pro! He was filling it every direction making sure every inch of my nails were cut evenly and smoothly. It was great! The part that turned it into just an ok visit was the application of the colour which was done by a lady. The colour I wanted was mislabeled and so they didn't have it in stock anymore. I had to choose another colour on the spot so I'm not completely in love with it. And also, the lady who painted my nails painted one of them crooked. You can't see it when my fingers are together but you can totally tell once the finger is alone. For 40$, I don't think that should happen. Maybe my nail is misshapen but shouldn't they fix that then? Instead of using gel polish that is just polish, she used the kind you put in the little cooker thingy. I don't think I like that method because, even though it's faster, I don't think it feels or looks as good. In the grand scheme of things, it's small. They still did an ok job and it is a very convenient location. They were also very friendly. Verdict is still out on wether I'll return.

This salon is very close to my house, accepts credit and debit, uses higher quality gel, hydrates your hands after, AND it only cost me $51 tax and tip in. I mean, it doesn't get better than that. Oh and they call you back! Sunday is the only day they open at 11am instead of 10am. I didn't know this so I called at 10:30 to see if they had room to do my gel refill. They called back at 10:50! I didn't even leave a message. They just redialed. I get there for 11:15am and I tell the nail technician what I want and from there it's very straightforward. Filing, cutting, cuticle cutting, etc. And then the part that I was really impressed by. They actually use gel instead of powder. The gel has a consistency of honey and you cure right after applying but the results are better for the same effect. Most nail places will use the powder (or nail cocaine as I call it) which is cheaper but then charge way more. The only upside of the powder is they can more easily shape your nails. I've had nail technicians make my nails a bit longer with the powder to save having to apply another fake nail when I'm only missing a little bit of height. Also I did find curing the gel was a bit painful. It would feel like my nails were on fire for like a mini-second when I put my hand in the machine. After applying the gel, she filed them a bit more and made sure they all were the same height(many places don't do this because they think it'll be ok but then I leave and they are crooked). I wash my hands, and we apply the polish and top coat. Finish off with a little hand massage with hydrating cream. It was a perfect manicure.
