I rarely write reviews and have done so for only the most exceptional service/work. I wanted to take this opportunity to commend Deb Hoffman at Visage Salon for the truly remarkable color work she did on my hair. I have naturally black hair that is incredibly pigmented. In the past, when I colored my hair, it always ended up reddish/brassy. I decided to give it one more shot, as wanted highlights to help camouflage greys. I spoke candidly and openly to Deb about my concerns and instead of just telling me that it would be ok...she took the extra step and educated me about hair color. She was open and honest. She took me through all the steps and reasons why she thought her approach would work to achieve the cooler ash brown color I wanted, instead of the reddish brassy brown I always got. She even took the time to explain why my hair likely always ended up looking orangey brown. After this, I decided to trust her and I'm am so happy I did! She was able to give me the brown highlights I always wanted (and never was able to get) - the result was a true ash brown with NO red/orange tones whatsoever. Deb is truly an artist who really knows her craft. She has true vision but worked with me to achieve what I wanted. I have never been more impressed with a stylist and her expertise just blew me away! I was in awe watching her work, mix ingredients/colors and create. The end result is beautiful. I absolutely love how my hair color turned out. Deb really helped me feel more confident and I felt like a million bucks walking out the door (she also gave me a such great haircut)! Salon Visage is truly one of the worst salons in NJ, all of these reviews are most likely written by the people that work there. Recently Michelle cut my hair into a straight mullet, it is so bad the only thing i can do is pin it all back and wear a headband. My hair was past my shoulders and is now up to my ears in the front. Not even feeling bad about it, she laughed about it behind my back and let me leave the salon. After she was finished she PEELED the cape off of me, to find out there was white glue from the cape all over my jeans/top. When I returned the next day for some compensation for my clothes at the very least, the owner (you know the old guy that looks like a woman) he said "man your hair is pretty f*ed up, I feel for ya, there isnt even anything you can do to it. you might wna consider getting some extensions..if we did them, i'd give you a little bit of a discount, but we dont sorry. oh and yeah your clothes, wow it must be nail glue or something..find the reciepts, i'll give them to my insurance company, if youre lucky theyll send you a couple of bucks." I had a "go to" place for over 20 years. When their ownership changed, so did the service. I needed someplace new, but was hesitant feeling like the "cheating on your hairdresser" scene from Seinfeld. I am not high maintenance and probably get color 4/5 times a year, but I like my hair to look good. Debbie from Salon Visage was recommended to me. I made my way up to the second floor to pleasantly find a sleek, comfortable oasis for all things hair! I needed someone to take charge and make recommendations. Debbie not only knows color, it's literally her passion. It's obvious she keeps current on new processes and techniques and she enthusiastically applies her skills and knowledge to client satisfaction. I was thrilled to find out that the Salon takes Sunday appointments too (except summer)!!!! Being busy with work and traveling a half hour to the salon, this was a game changer for me. Making appointments is easy and Debbie always goes out of her way to accommodate. The customer service and friendly staff is another plus. John was a lifesaver at Salon Visage!!! In the realm of self esteem, there are few moments so horrifying as choosing the WRONG color for DIY hair color. I am a natural redhead who has been covering grey for several years, but decided to try a new color when my "regular" color was sold out. BIG MISTAKE. My hair came out a "day glo" orangey red. Bozo the clown had nothing on me! I called first thing in the morning on a Saturday (of Prom weekend, talk about busy!!) and they fit me in! John took his time explaining what he was going to do (I had no idea how complicated corrective color is!) and then did a spectacular job fixing my hair color. It is a different color than my natural (which he prepared me for), but in the end, I like it BETTER than what I was doing on my own! (My husband enthusiastically agreed.) John also added in a couple of extras (a glaze and a trim) for free! His assistant was also wonderful and everyone treated me like gold. I walked out looking spectacular, and frankly had expected some tears in the process. (We all know how much our hair can affect our self esteem!) I couldn't have asked for anything better! I've had my best friend do my hair for the past 10 years of my life-- I only trusted her. And boy was I in trouble when she got pregnant. Where would I go? What do I say? I didn't even know what color treatment she was using for my highlights or how she was cutting my hair ( I have curly curly hair so I don't trust just anyone with my curly hair; you have to know it, understand it, so you can understand my apprehension). And secondly, I didn't want to go to some joe shmoe place, I wanted it to feel upscale and hip, like I was in the city (bc my best friend was in Brooklyn). Long story short, Salon Visage met all my wishes. I was blown away at the salon itself. Very NY like. Sophisticated. Modern. Trendy. Hip. John, my stylist, actually taught me about my hair and explained to ME what treatment I was getting for the past number of years, and really dug deep into what I typically do to my hair, "how do you typically part it". I felt at ease and in great hands almost automatically! ( I even said "bye bye" to my best friend who, candidly, chose not to return to work (win win for me and Salon Visage). I had an amazing experience here!! It was my first time and I went for a shampoo, cut, blowout and deep conditioning from Groupon. I called to set my appointment and was able to get something same day! Everyone was so pleasant and friendly from the beginning to end. My stylist was Alexa and she was phenomenal. She trimmed my hair exactly as I asked while keeping my long layers. The blowout was beautiful and my hair looked so shiny and revived when I left. I walked around Westfield after and received 4 compliments within 15 minutes of how beautiful my hair looked!! I asked Alexa about products I should be using and she was very knowledgeable about what I needed and what type of hair I have. We also discussed added some color in my hair soon and she knows exactly how to give me the blonde balayage I want! Alexa has definitely gained a new client and I cannot wait to return! read more

Debbie is amazing! I go to her all the time. When I first starting going to her I would have pictures of what I wanted and she would recreate the looks perfectly. Since I have been going to her for about 2 years now, she suggests different looks and they all look great with my hair color/ texture. She really takes the time to get to know you and your hair. I get blow outs from her almost monthly and Debbie also does my Brazilian blowouts. Debbie always tries to accommodate me because I am a working mom with very little time to myself. The salon is always clean and the staff is very friendly. The ladies that work the front desk are really nice and never have an attitude. Whenever I make an appointment I get a text message reminder which is really nice and convenient. All around would recommend Debbie and Salon Visage to everyone! They are the best! read more

I've been coming to this place to get my hair colored for years. Olivia R posted a nasty review, but I think she was asking for the impossible. The hair they cut from your head is to test if the bleach is going to destroy your hair. You said your hair is like 4 or more colors, so it must be damaged. Evening out the color isn't necessarily a 1 day task if your hair has had significant damage. Dark hair is especially tricky. I'm just saying because I have really dark hair (nearly black) and I got mine bleached to get a balayage from dark blue to light blue. It took 8 hours but was totally worth it. Sure, if I was a blonde it would've taken far less time, but I'm not. And I wanted to do something drastic and FUN! I LOVE my new color! Wasn't sure it would be possible, but Carmen got the job done!!! read more

I have been going to Salon Visage ever since I could convince my mom to take me - I think my first visit was to get my hair done for 8th grade graduation. I have been going ever since (and my mom has been going since moving to the area in 1993). I've seen a variety of stylists over the years but most recently have been getting my hair cut and colored by John. He is fantastic and I now won't let anyone else near my hair! He is both an amazing colorist and stylist with a very keen eye and a great sense of style - I trust his opinion and I have never been unhappy with his work. I get so many compliments on my hair and I always tell them to go to Salon Visage and see John or any of the other wonderful stylists there. They are the best salon in the area, by far. DJ was great! Honestly one of the best salon experiences I've had! She answered all the questions that I had about keeping my hair healthy and gave me even more tips! She kept up a great conversation and made my experience worthwhile! In addition to that, my hair cut is pretty much exactly what I imagined it would be going in! I used a Groupon for a deep condition and hair cut and blow dry, and asked for layers and a face frame! She also recommended I get side bangs instead of making the face frame start a little higher, and it turned out amazing! My hair is super soft and sleek to the touch and the way that she styled my hair was really nice! Definitely would come back here again and would highly recommend! :) read more
