Absolutely horrible experience today. I was suggested to visit Salon Visage by a friend. I called abs explained thoroughly on the phone what I was looking for & that I wanted a consultation. I expressed to the receptionist that I'm apprehensive due to a bad experience at another salon AND I'm a perfectionist. This is when Thom, one of the owners was suggested to me by the receptionist. Great. I booked my consult and arrived on time. I was told Thom was running about 15 minutes behind when I arrived - no big deal. Thom introduces himself to me & I proceed to explain the look I'm going for. I show him pictures and explain the issue I had at my prior salon. I've always been led by my stylist once I explain the look I'm after. Thom acted completely uninterested and just kept saying I'd need to double process to get the look in the pictures or do what I have now. Okay. Cool. He even asked another stylist for her opinion. Not once did Thom touch my hair, try and create a rapport with me or make any suggestion as to HOW to achieve what I'm after except to say I couldn't unless I double processed and wanted a lot of upkeep. Thom gets up when I'm still talking and starts cleaning the work station next to my chair. He then says "I don't want to get into this. You can go to someone else. I am not doing your hair. You won't be happy." I was shocked. It's one thing to say to a client I don't think we can achieve what you are after but to approach a new client in that way,to say flat out I'm not working on you.. I was beyond insulted and taken aback. I said thank you for your time and left. The receptionist didn't say a word. Thom watched me walk out visibly upset. I've worked in the salon/spa industry for ten years. I am a perfectionist but I was willing to pay for the service. I was never disrespectful. The way I was treated today was NOT OKAY. I went straight to a different salon & they were very happy to guide me towards something that I'll be happy with. I wanted to share this because being in the field, I get turning a client away. I get saying we are in different pages & I can't achieve this look. I also get how to deliver that message in a respectful manner. Thom is one of the new owners & he needs to learn how to treat clients esp since he's one of the leads of the salon. Very disappointed & upset. read more
