Unfortunately, after today's experience, I will not be returning. I had booked an appointment for a color treatment today. After my hair was colored and washed, I was left in the chair with wet hair for over 45 minutes, with no one coming to assist me. I could see my stylist cutting another client's hair, so I went to the receptionist to ask if someone would be drying my hair. She informed me that I hadn't booked a blowout, so no one would be drying my hair. I was taken aback and asked, "So I'm expected to leave the salon with wet hair, in a gown and towel?" She replied that some customers do. I was in shock. I then approached someone else, and when I finally interrupted to ask what was happening, I was in tears from the embarrassment and frustration of the situation. This appointment was a birthday treat that my husband had arranged for me, and it was completely ruined. The owner was kind and apologized, drying my hair himself and offering me a 50% discount, but honestly, at that point, it felt insufficient given how upset I was. I paid, acknowledging the costs of materials and such, but I will not be returning to this salon again.

Wow, Wow....WOW, is all I can say about Salon Sashay Studio of Short Hills!…read more I lived in Paris, France for 20 years, and had the most phenomenal balayage, highlights, hair color and cuts while living there. Despite their many quirks and eccentricities, the French really are Artists when it comes to hair! Sadly, when I moved back to the US about 8 years ago, I was never ever able to find someone to recreate the same cool and lovely shade of blonde I was used to, while living in Paris. This past weekend, while traveling from Austin, Texas to visit my parents in Upstate New York, I felt a dire need to highlight and cut my hair. Staying overnight at the Short Hills Hilton, I googled "the best hair salon in Short Hills, New Jersey."...and up popped "Salon Sashay Studio of Short Hills!" I made an appointment. When I walked into the salon door, I was greeted by a big smile and friendly "hello" from Owner Don, Yolanda and my Wizard Hairstylist/Colorist/Hair Genious....Oscar! In my hand to sip was placed a refreshing cup of cucumber and lemon-infused spring water, packed with thirst quenching and therapeutic deliciousness! The decor of this boutique salon was so warm and soothing and was reminiscent of SOHO Bauhaus design, with it's furnishings, clever artwork, luminous chandelier and very flattering lighting :) Now for the hair. Oscar, an attentive and soft spoken Gentleman, who has been practicing hair artistry for over 25 years, turned my straggly, brassy and way-too-long hair into a shoulder-length, sassy and sexy bob with perfectly cool-toned highlights, from root to end. Oscar took his time to apply the product, check it carefully, and when a section of my hair was "just right," he brought me to the sink to wash it, so that all the hair would end up in uniform color and highlighted perfection! With a big smile and beautiful hair, perfectly matching the tones I was accustomed to during my Paris days, I headed to Upstate New York to see my parents. To put things into perspective, even my Father, a 94 year-old businessman (who RARELY gives compliments), looked at me and said: "You have nice hair color." Now THAT is saying a lot. Yes, I will definitely return to Salon Sashay Studio! :) Thank you a million times over Oscar! xo

I waited to write this review I until the cut grew out a bit to make sure - but all in all an awesome experience. 1. Made an appointment but had to change at the last minute and they couldn't have been more gracious - not something I have come to expect in New Jersey. 2. When I arrived they were exceptionally pleasant and welcoming - made me feel instantly comfortable - which is huge when trusting someone with your head. 3. The haircut itself was solid right away. He listened to what I asked for and offered some suggestions as well. 4. Can't beat the price, $25 for a straightforward haircut is awesome. 5. The haircut has held up really well. I don't like to get a cut every couple weeks so a good grow out is critical. Definitely worth giving a shot if you're anywhere near here.

When I called, they told me that my blowout would be $35.00 which was shockingly low to me considering the area. They placed me in the very capable hands of Arlyn who gave me a great shampoo and condition, and then the best fresh blowout I have ever gotten. I felt great all day and got compliments on how great my hair looked. My husband told me that my hair looked pretty the moment I saw him. Thank you Arlyn, and see you soon!! Best, Jen Shuster

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst salon experiences I've had…read more I arrived with an inspiration photo of the hairstyle I wanted. My stylist, Alicia Coleman, barely spoke to me before immediately taking me to wash my hair. I actually had to stop her so I could show her the reference photo. She gave it a quick glance, said, "I got you," and that was the extent of the consultation. As she styled my hair, she kept turning my chair away from the mirror so I couldn't see what she was doing. Every time I tried to look, she turned the chair even farther away. I found it very odd because I wasn't able to see the styling process or offer any feedback. Had I been able to watch, I could have pointed out that it wasn't going in the direction I wanted before she finished. When she finally turned me around for the "big reveal," I was shocked. It looked nothing like my inspiration photo. She had curled all of my hair toward my face instead of away from it, and the style was completely different from what I had requested. I wanted a side part with hair softly covering part of my forehead. When I asked if she could fix it, she told me I had too much breakage to achieve that look. I was already running late and didn't have time to stay, so I left extremely disappointed. When I got home, I had to completely wet my hair, blow-dry it all over again, and curl it myself from scratch. I was able to recreate the look I originally asked for with no problem. Paying $50 for a blowout that I had to completely redo myself was a total waste of money. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.
