The service is very friendly, unlike our usual pizza joints and I really enjoyed that! Now the food...for me the pizza was yummy and I wanted to eat the whole pie. My bf on the other hand (has lousy pizza tastes!) thought the pizza had too many onions (idk how that's possible?!?). We both agreed that we would prefer the onions slightly charged and there was a tad too much cornmeal, hence 4 stars. The wings were also enjoyed by my picky wing-eater bf, so that's a plus! I'd eat here again if I can convince my bf, but perhaps a plain pizza and wings. read more

I have eaten at Sal's Pizza on 4 different occasions. Every one of those times I have been with a group of family friends/friends so maybe that will influence my review a bit. That being said, the Sicilian pizza here (the american definition, a square pie with dough over an inch thick) is STELLAR. It has consistently been good every time with a variety of toppings. Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese or a dash of garlic salt on top and its so divine. The drinks are standard pizza place fare and you can buy a few kinds of beer and wine as well. The interior decor is nothing out of the ordinary but the place was always clean and of a good interior temperature. Even during dinner time hours the service was swift and courteous. I stop here for lunch once or twice a month when driving between the Philly area and Scranton. I usually get a plain and a white slice, but they always have selection available by the slice. They have a very nice and unexpected selection of beer here, including some Belgians and American micros. Pricing is about what you'd expect for a pizza joint in a strip mall. No frills atmosphere. Absolute worst pizza me and my significant other have ever had. We stopped by after going to Dorney Park for the day and thought the pizza was pretty good while eating. Today we're both having severe stomach pain. My significant other had to call out of work for today from being in so much pain. We got a plain slice, Sicilian slice and two meat slices. All of it was too greasy and soggy. Living up in norther New Jersey WE KNOW what good pizza is supposed to look and taste like and this place clearly doesn't know what they're doing. And I'm sure people would be willing to go there after a long day at Dorney Park and not willing to pay Dorneys prices for food and drinks. Great service and great staff. I eat here at least once a week. Im not a big fan of the pizza, just not my type of crust (not a negative though). Strombolis are great, lost of flavor and the cheese content is just right. Calzones also very good. My favorites though are the turkey and tuna hoagies. The pizza was ok. I'm looking forward to trying other shops since I'm new to the area - I feel like there might be a better choice out there. The sauce was a little too sweet and I could do without the cornmeal overload on the bottom and crust. I thought it was the perfect thickness and amount of cheese. I thought this place was very very good. The staff was a lot better than I thought. I assumed they would be average since some of them seemed really young, but they were all very friendly and helpful. I had the plain slice here which I thought was good, nothing out of the ordinary, as well as the sicilian and the tomato basil pizza which were both AMAZING. You can sincerely tell the ingredients were fresh. They were not overly greasy or anything. I also had the cheese steak which I thought was pretty good as well. I thought it was a little weird that the meat seemed almost grounded in a machine, but never the less, it was still tasty. While I thought the meat was a little odd, the bread was AWSOME. I never actually realized good cheesesteak bread before! It was so crisp, soft, and not too doughy. The bread was definitely unlike I have ever had before. Being from Long Island, I'm a snob when it comes to pizza. Domino's sometimes does the trick, but usually I want a real slice. The crust here is crunchy and the cheese is hot and oily (the way it should be). A bit "sweeter" than NY pizza, but I'm getting used to that. Definitely the most NY-like pizza around. Having an original name like "Sal's" is a plus (Names like "NY Stromboli Pizza" annoy me... especially with their cheap NY Yankees hats). Definitely a quality pizza place. Can't go wrong with Sal's!! Pepperoni pizza is fantastic; people are friendly and know what they are doing. Cheesesteaks are awesome; you are not chewing for hours on fat and grizzle. Came during my dorney park trip. Ordered a cheesesteak for myself n chicken tenders for my son n fries to split. Within 4mins I get my sandwhich but nothing for my son.
