This little store front pizza place was a find! My wife had a margarita pizza, which was very good, she ordered a 10 inch, but it was actually 12 inches in size, more than enough for one person, so I enjoyed a slice of it...perfect crust, and a nice topping. I had the Philly Cheesesteak..made on homemade bread, and as good as it gets. Special mention to the staff that couldn't have been nicer, we did eat outside on picnic benches, That weren't all that comfortable, and we were pretty much in the parking lot...but we were there for the food, brownies for dessert were A+. read more

I would say that Sal's is probably one of the best pizza joints in Charlotte. A little hole in the wall in Gastonia has a lot of promise. The service was great as well. They make their own bread which was really good. I give this spot a solid 8. It would've been a 9 or possibly a 9.5 if the pizza sauce was sweeter and if the crust was crunchier. Decided on Sal's based on great reviews...Changed up after arriving and ordered the original cheesesteak and chicken Parmesan subs instead of pizza. The fresh house made sub bread was amazing !!! Best sandwiches I've ever had, seriously folks, every bite had a delicious crunch. You're thinking, "It's just a sandwich "...Wrong!!...Much better than your average sub with lots of meat and cheese stuffed inside that wonderful bread. The wife and I were wanting some pizza on 28 February 2026 and happened to look this place up on Yelp and boy was it GREAT!!! We ordered a Large Meat Eater Pizza and it was even better than expected. They truly know what they're doing when it comes to pizza and fresh ingredients. The service was amazing and the staff was extremely professional and thoughtful. The first time I visited on. Saturday they were closed so I was glad this Saturday they were open. I ordered the chicken parmesan sub. Took about 10 minutes as I ordered to go. They have a decent sized menu. I like to try new Italian places with something like the chicken parm as a baseline. The sauce has a lot to do with the success of the sandwich. I enjoyed the sub. Today, thanks to a friend's recommendation, we had the pleasure of visiting Sal's Pizzeria. The pizza and cheesesteak hoagie I ordered were delicious, too. The ratio of sauce to cheese on the pizza is ideal. The cheesesteak was amazing and packed a ton of flavor. It is wonderful since it is made with freshly baked bread. I was in love with the bread and ordered some to take with me today for a snack. I also sampled some of the homemade cheesecake, and holy cow, it is incredible. Eager to go back soon. Sal, the owner, took the time to greet us and get to know us, which made the experience much better. This reveals a lot about the location. read more

Stopped in on a drive through the state. We were pleasantly surprised. Had the pleasure of meeting Sal, the owner. And our server, Lily, was great! The pizza was sooo good. We weren't super hungry and ate more than we planned on because it was so good. Took home our leftovers and they were gone by the next day. Wonderfully chewy crust with crisp edges. On September 22, 2021, I visited this pizzeria that I have seen hundreds of times in passing. I finally had the opportunity to purchase subs for me and my two sons to try out for dinner. The establishment was clean and the staff was friendly. They told me that my food would be ready in approximately 10 to 15 minutes and they were true to their word! I enjoyed the traditional steak and cheese sub why my sons enjoy the special sub of the day, I believe it was the Stakanator. Lol Nevertheless, they both thoroughly enjoyed it! The next time I purchased food from this restaurant for me and my family, I would like to try their New York style pizza! Thanks Sal for the delicious subs! P.S. If I had to suggest about something, it would be a request for them to label the sub packaging, maybe with a black permanent marker, to identify subs, if they are different from the other subs in the bag. Stopped in here for a snack/break from driving, also to try this spot as it came highly recommended. The service was top notch, Lily was very helpful and professional! We met Sal as well, and he got our pizza out quickly. I was quite impressed with the quality and freshness of this pizza. There were two tables outside, and a few more inside, and the whole place was very clean. They were staying very busy with takeout orders, and I can say it makes sense after trying this incredible pizza! Looking forward to coming back and trying it again! read more

They have Gluten- free for my wife and they allowed me to purchase vegan cheese for my son and he enjoyed it very much.
