Quite frankly, Sal's Pupuseria may be my favorite lunch spot in Idaho Falls. I love pupusas and would frequent different spots in Southern California and Vegas. Sal's Pupuseria is as close as it gets in Idaho Falls. The Loroco Y Queso pupusa is my favorite, no matter where I am. It's basically herbs & cheese but so delicious. The curtido (cabbage) at Sal's is a great addition and well seasoned. The carne asada taco was good. It was flavorful and bigger than your average street taco. However, it was pretty greasy. Use several napkins and then wash your hands right after type of greasy...but that's where the flavors at! Lol. Prices are slightly higher than the other places I'm accustomed to. However, my options in Idaho Falls for Salvadorian comfort food are limited so I'll take what I can get. Everything is cooked when you order it so be prepared to wait for a bit or call ahead. There were probably 3-4 people ahead of me during lunch hour and I waited close to 30 minutes for my food. The gentleman who works the counter isn't overly friendly but I understand that not everyone's personality is the same as mine. He was nice enough that I didn't feel uncomfortable. The food here was a little different than I am used to, but it tasted really great. Normally when we order pupusas revueltas elsewhere they contain beans, but here it's just just chicharron and cheese. They are a good size and very cheesy. The tables outside of this truck have shade and are big enough to accommodate a party of 12, but they are comically high. Sitting on the bench, my food was about eye level, and my kids had to stand. I'd recommend grabbing it and going somewhere else to eat. read more

Good Salvadorian food. They also have a selection of Mexican dishes (and some dishes from El Salvador that have the same name as Mexican dishes but are part of Salvadorian cuisine and get a Salvadorian twist). We had pupusas, tamales (different than the Mexican variety), and plátanos con crema y frijoles. All good. If you've never had Salvadorian food, try the pupusas first. They are a stuffed corn griddle cake, with some similarities to the Colombian and Venezuelan arepas (but not the same thing). Stopped by for a quick first-timer bite and was impressed with their offerings. I ordered a adobada taco with a loroco and queso pupusa, which were all very tasty. The order took a little bit so be patient with the small wait because it'll be worth it. Also, please note that they have moved off Broadway and closer to the river between Snow Eagle and the West Bank Hotel. Look for the dark blue trailer. Delicious!!! We are at the end of a 3 month road trip and have not had good tacos the whole time! My husband, being from SoCal, is very picky when it comes to tacos. Non of that Tex mex stuff for him! Thankfully this was authentic deliciousness! We ordered one adobada and one carne taco, cheese Pupusa, Carne burrito and plantains. Everything was soooo good! We devoured everything. My husband was not really hungry and just wanted tacos and ended up steeling half my burrito. So glad we stopped here for lunch. And the gentleman taking the order was super nice and patient, he helped the lady in front of us and explained all the food options since she was not familiar. Soooooo pupusas are just about my all time favorite food. In fact, my friends send me photos of their pupusas every time they eat them cause they literally can't eat this food group (yes it's an entire food group) without thinking of yours truly. So, when I found out there was a pupuseria in IF, I could hardly contain my excitement. Unfortunately, I seemed to have a different experience than my sister, who seemed to Love this place and received great service! My first impression, however, was me excitedly walking up to the window, and the woman inside the truck simply opening the window and staring at me. No hello... No greeting at all really... And I'm sitting there in my head like uhhhhhhh is she busy? Is she ready? What do I do? Should I say something?? So, not a great impression as far as service goes. For the food, I would say about half of my order was overcooked, including a bean and cheese pupusa and the plantains. I would say there should probably be one salsa and one bag of cabbage slaw per pupusa order, otherwise it just doesn't seem to be enough. However, I am generally the most upset over the fact that my cheese pupusa was put in the same container as a cheese and shrimp pupusa. As a vegetarian, I do not want to feel insecure that I might be eating the food that has meat in it, and by the time we got home, the cheese pupusa basically melted into the shrimp pupusa, and by the time we tore half of the top pupusa open to make sure it didn't have shrimp in it, it was too destroyed to eat. I will say that my mom did seem to enjoy her shrimp pupusa, which is the only reason why I'm giving this a three star... I averaged our ratings. read more

Thre of us ordered 5 pupusas and a taco. There was a misunderstanding and we didn't get the taco but we didn't pay for it either so it's all good. The pupusas were delicious with chicharrón y queso being the favorite followed by pollo y queso. Camarón y queso brings up the last. Couldn't really taste the shrimp. Bad, bad, bad Pupusas. Wife is from El Salvador and I've had them in the home land and at all the most popular places in San Francisco. We can tell when the cook is either not Salvadoran or not trained correctly. The Pupusas just don't have the right flavor or consistency. The Curtido is not fermented and salsa is wrong. I've had them made by Mexican eateries before, they just taste like beans and tortilla. Pupusas made correctly are so much more than that. I generally avoid food trucks, but this place defies all stereotypes. This is a food truck I trust. The experience was delightful. The truck and atmosphere are clean. The service is outstanding, both prompt and friendly. The food contains quality ingredients. I didn't get a stomach ache after eating. We ordered two burritos with a few some modifications. and they were extremely accommodating. Our burritos were some of the best we've had. I can't speak for the authenticity of the Mexican food, but it tastes fresh and the flavors are clean. Sal the owner does an excellent job. We will definitely be back. read more

Pupusas are one of my favorite lunchtime meals from Central America. Sal's definitely knows what they're doing. They were a crispy outside from the grill and nice and gooey inside. Yummy pupusas a little greasier than I've had before, but I've heard from a Pupuseria in WA that that's pretty normal. Less greasy versions are made than way cuz Americans have a weird love hate relationship with grease lol. Wanted to try the loroco and cheese pupusa but they were out of loroco. Had to try this place out because I drive by it everyday and I don't know what a pupusa is. Now I do and I like it. The menu has enough to keep you satisfied no matter what time of day it is and for a very reasonable price. I had two bean meat and cheese pupusas and it made for a perfect lunch. Sal's is my absolute favorite place to eat in Idaho Falls. I've been here many times and have never had a bad experience. The pupusas are on par with pupusas you would get in El Salvador, which is very impressive. It's true that the curtido and salsa are different, but they're not bad, they're just not what a native might expect. Make sure to grab a Kolashampan to wash it down. If you're not in the mood for pupusas, try the Super Tostada, Torta, Sopes, or Super Quesadilla. All of those are excellent choices. They say they are open but they really were not, HOWEVER they were still hanging around working and they still said they could make us a pupusa even though I wanted plantains. I really appreciated how willing they were to find something for me and they only charged $2.50 instead of 2.60 since we were scouring for change. Obviously that's not a huge difference but it's the thought that counts. I will definitely come back when they are open. So I am form Los Angeles where you are guaranteed amazing tacos at any Mexican food cart you go to. I now live in Idaho Falls and had a carving so I went here. Not impressed First off, the meat was cold. Tasted like it was made the day before. Second off, it was really salty and I know it is supposed to be but this was almost unbearable. Great food and the guys in the back are real nice but the lady that mans the register makes me never want to come back again. You ask for something and she just stares at you, says nothing and walks to the back. Took us 25 minutes to get our food and we were the only ones there. When I went up to check on our order she gave me a dirty look and said to give her a second. Was so turned off by her I had my fiancé go ask her for a to go box for me and she had the same attitude of "what the heck do you want" with him too. If the owner wants his customers to come back it would be a wise decision to either replace her or tell her to at least pretend she likes her job and interacting with other human beings because it completely turned me off from coming back. Side note pupusas are $2.75 on average which is very pricey for pupusas if you've been to any other El Salvadorian restaurant. And this is a food truck so you aren't paying for any restaurant atmosphere in that price.
