We came to sals Thursday and the bartender was very rude and this happened every time, so my friend ask her for a beer she said she wasn't serving no more at the bar and he went and got the package goods like she told him so he can purchase it so he did than he went to pay her and she rip out on him because someone reached in his package goods while he was carrying so she got real loud and smart started yelling he has to leave and snatched the package goods and screaming at him get the f&&k out, so I was there asking her why was she doing all of this but no we just left because this place is dont like us blacks and our money and business don't belong there so we will never come back read more

Sal's is a local bar/liquor store. You can come in sit down with the locals and have a drink, or get your package goods to go. Always so.e familiar faces when u visit Sal's. A favorite spot of some of my friends. Caught up with my favorite people and tossed a few back. Nice little spot off the beaten path. read more

2nd time here (Wed 3-13) Great little place. Initially when you walk in a any small place like this you immediately feel like an outsider, but the bartender was friendly, very cute (dark hair/glasses) & made you feel welcome. There were certainly no physically intimidating or scary ppI but I can see how some ppl would feel intimidated if someone looks at you when you come in, but it's a small place so it's gonna happen. I pass this place coming home from work (Edison area) so it's nice to have a place to grab a beer & just decompress. BTW: Bartender made a really good screwdriver.. read more

This place is the best and worst of everything. If you need a 12 pack or a 30 pack on a holiday and you're in a bind because no one else is open this place is ALWAYS open. When I say always, I mean they are open on Christmas, the 4th of july, thanksgiving, kwanza, festivus, you name it their open. On the other side there's also a bar inside the liquor store which I could never go to no matter how bad I needed a beer. I think I'd buy the beer and go drink under a bridge. Their prices aren't great, but like I said when you're in a bind Sal's is there to help you out. read more

I must start bye saying this is not a nice place but it is Necessary !!! What does that even Meeeeeeean one would ask. Ok the run down on Sals is its a Neighborhood staple.. Bye day it is a full liquor store ( I use full loosely but they have booze). As most know After 10pm you can't buy any liquor but you can get wine, champagne, beer from all participating bars . That's where Sals WINS big time !!! The nights you have unexpected guest and need to get some wine or beer to accommodate, the night where you decide last minute to go to a gathering and you don't wanna show up empty handed ( empty handed is frowned upon in most states lol ) , You can stop at Sals and get a pretty descent bottle I'm not talking about Arbor Mist and Sutter Home either haha. There is ample parking as they share a lot with stores that close early. When you walk in you are greeted bye drunken locals that may appear to be giving you the " This is our bar get the hell out look " but that face is really just an initial precautionary greeting. It may come off as a shock to people to see a bar in the center of a liquor store but after you decide to take out the soft stuff or have some hard stuff at the bar ( or do both as I shamelessly do on the occasion) you forget about the surroundings pretty quickly. They do not overpour but they don't cheat you either. The shots are between 6-8 dollars and beer is about 5 in the bottle and they also have less expensive tap beer ( glass or pitcher) . The bartenders have definitely been in the game for a while which I like because they actually pay attention to the patrons!!! Lots of weirdos but the sense of community is outstanding... So while some may consider this a dive bar I see it as a jewel that keeps the locals happy to know there is life after 10pm. read more

He's got a loyal customer base for a reason. Like the previous reviewer said this place is always open. If everything else is closed because its a holiday, Sal's doors are open and he's serving you some home cooked chow. Its a place to saddle up at the bar and have a beer with people that actually work for a living. You won't find cotton candy martini's here. read more

If I could give a zero rating I would. I have visited this establishment several times to purchase wine or alcohol as they are one of the only places in my area that sells wine and alcohol after all the liquor stores close. One one particular evening I entered to purchase a bottle and was told they dont sell alcohol after 10. I found that strange because I personally have purchased alcohol from them after 10 pm. Ok. I go back to my car, then I see another patron walk out with a brown bag; presumably alcohol. Then another, and another. Lastly I see two guys walk out and ask them what they purchased... alcohol. Really? So I go in to tell them about themselves and the response was " What are you talking about?" Maybe they just didnt want MY money. No worries. They don't EVER have to worry abt getting my money....EVER. Patronize at your own risk. read more
