Great Mexican market where you can order some crispy carnitas tacos or a burrito and then peruse the aisles for groceries while they prepare your food. As you enter the market, there is a small section of fresh bread, cookies and Mexican pastries like pan dulce. Even cakes and flan, which is delicious. The produce section is also on the small side, but everything is fresh. I always pick up limes, cilantro, tomatoes, peppers, scallions And grab a few mangos. I love street tacos and prefer to have someone else make the fillings when I'm in a hurry! At the meat and cheese counter, you can buy precooked carnitas that are both tender and crispy with lots of juice. If you would rather cook the meat, you can buy marinated chicken, pork or carne asada and then fry it up at home. While there, grab some of the fresh salsas, pic de gallo and hot sauces in varying degrees if heat. I like the orange red sauce! And of course they have Inca and Jarrito's sodas, juices, candy, chips & snacks and house made bags of Chicharrón. Located in a small strip mall, I happened upon this market by chance. SALSA MARKET MAY VERY WELL BE BEAVERTON'S BEST KEPT SECRET!! Not only are the tacos succulent and juicy, they are made to order. The chicken housed inside the taco is pulled from the refrigerator where it marinates in a blend of simple seasonings and placed on the grill. The corn tortillas are doubled up and wrapped in aluminum foil with a wax paper lining. Chopped onions & cilantro make a wonderful garnish to top it off. Because of the fresh ingredients they tend to be a little messy. Be prepared to experience taco juice running down your hand and arm by your second bite. Please don't be dismayed; that drip is more than welcomed and overshadowed by taste. These tacos also aren't small. They are pretty decent size and two can fill up the average individual. In addition to tacos there are plenty of other authentic items in this store. From pan dulces to various salsa, this is a one stop shop for all things hispanic cuisine. It's tucked in a small strip mall diagonal from the very popular margarita spot Pepita's but it sits in no one's shadow!! Jarrito's brand sodas top the charts for me and round out some of the best things I appreciate about this store. A friend had recommended this grocery store and it has become one of our bi-weekly stops on a weeknight for dinner... I know it isn't the best for the waist line but it's so yummy. I love the big family size portions of rice and beans that are a perfect complement to a simple homemade Mexican meal or getting everything from the deli in the back since the tamales are so yummy as well as the tacos. Brought the wife. We eat chicken tacos from a lot of places so it's worth noting that she said she wouldn't come back. Mostly because the chicken is pretty oily and there's nowhere to sit. I'm truly sorry I ate lunch at home before getting out on this gorgeous day to walk and stopped here on a whim to have a look (Salsa Market sells mouth-watering-looking tacos and burritos). I'm getting ready to make some chicken tortilla soup and they had all the ingredients needed to get that done. Prices are excellent on the vegetables and fruit, and those all looked nice and fresh. I also got an excellent price on some cumin for the soup (a dollar for a generous amount), and a large bunch of fresh cilantro was seventy-five cents versus a dollar for a much smaller bunch at Fred's (and other chain stores). They have three or four dining booths down the middle of the store where customers can sit and eat those wonderful-looking tacos and burritos. They have an excellent meat counter with good prices and fine quality meat. There's also a baked goods section with some very prettily-decorated cakes. The whole store is compact, clean, and well-laid out. The folks working in the store are friendly and easy to talk with. The best part of this for me is Salsa Market is an easy walk from home. I can come here for what looks like a delicious dinner or lunch served up by local people in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and pick up grocery items at the same time. Salsa Market is a great stop for either specialty groceries, a tasty bite, or both! In the front of the store there is a small section of fresh baked goods including bread, pastries, and cakes many of which I have truly missed since moving to Oregon from Texas. There is a very small produce selection with a few items such as nopales, peppers, and etc it is nothing special but it is not why I come to the store. One of the best things about the shop is the meat and cheese counter where you can get as much or as little of what you want. They have regular meats as well as several marinated ones. In addition they sell items such as chickens feet and whole fish similar to Asian markets. The prepared foods are cheap and a great grab for dinner. The carnitas are a dream, so juicy and flavorful. I love the burritos, sopes, and plates. But my hands down favorite thing is the made in store chicharones they are so crisp, perfectly salty, and not oily perfect for snacking or incorporating into a dish. My only problem with the chicharones is that my cat always tries to steal them so I have to immediately hide them when I get home, found out the hard way that he likes them. Oh and not to forget the candy! So much tasty goodness I can't help myself but get some sort of candy each time I come in. read more

This market is tucked away in a small non-descript strip mall, but is worth noticing. Great selection of fresh produce and an excellent meat counter keep me coming back; my BF is strictly there for the housemade fresh burritos and salsas. The burritos are huge, fresh, hot and filling, and (he tells me) delicious. I can vouch for the salsa - fresh, but the ingredients are well-blended so that the flavors come together nicely. I get the mildest of the mild, and I get a big smile and a knowing nod when I request it. The BF made the mistake once of asking for their spiciest salsa, and the very helpful guys at the counter laughed and laughed and gave him the medium. He told them he loves hot sauce, the spicier the better, and really could handle it so.....could he have the spicy salsa? Laughing hysterically at the delusional white guy, they handed it over. Pssst..... Hey, Salsa Market employees? [whispering] Um, he CRIED as the sweat poured down his face. He gave up about 5 chips in. Awesome. I think he drank a half gallon or so of milk trying to make the pain stop. I totally wish you could have seen it, but I laughed plenty on your behalf. Horrible Place. I went in for tortillas and when i got home I noticed they had mold all over. I took them back and the owner kept telling me that they were fine that it was not mold and that anywhere I would go I would find tortillas like that. I went in a different day and was hoping to get some Pico and there was mold all over that too. I am never going here again I've had horrible experiences when I've gone there things are either MOLDY or Expired. read more

I really like the idea of fantastic tienda food, and three bucks for a bunch of quality salsa is a fantastic deal, but my co-worker ordered his burrito without meat and it was full of it. Expect to remember a little of your highschool/college spanish if you're coming here to eat! There's no seating, so make sure you're prepared to eat in your car or when you get to another destination. They have delicious tacos, large for the price. I highly suggest the carnitas tacos, the chicken are great too! They pack a lot of meat into a larger than normal corn tortilla, and serve them topped with finely diced onion and cilantro. While you wait for your food, grab some awesome salsa, a few limes, and maybe some extra cilantro and onion from the well stocked salsa bar. It's the first salsa bar I've seen around here that is actually refrigerated!!! Yay food safety!!! :) :) :) There are probably 8 or so salsas to choose from! I haven't asked, but this market almost certainly has changed owners since late last year. The quality and quantity of fresh salsa has greatly diminished. Much of the variety in produce is gone. This used to be a vibrant market! Now it's sort of a middling market that isn't as fun to shop at any more. read more

Went here for lunch today after seeing another Yelp'ers review. They have great food at the back counter, the best Chicharones around!! We had the carnitas burrito, which was HUGE, it was stuffed with yummy rice, pork carnitas, that were cooked to perfection, beans, onions and cilantro. Yum-o! Also, don't forget to get some fresh salsa and guac for their freshly fried tortilla chips!! MMMMM.... we'll be going back for sure! read more

I love this place. I don't have even a smidge of Hispanic anything in my upbringing. Coming here they have helped me muddle my way through finding what I need. I love this place for burritos! Huge, and so good. The California Burrito with chunks of potato are the best I think. They cook from scratch while you wait, so it's not a quicky serve and go. Prices in the butcher shop are good too! Try it, it will not disappoint! read more

WOW! I think this may have been my first experience with racism. I walked into the store, smiled and said hello to the lady at the counter. No response. Looked around a bit and walked up to the deli counter in the back where the salsa and meats were stored. I stood there for at least 5 full minutes being completely ignored while 3 workers stood around in the back. However as soon as a latino person came up to the counter they were immediately attentive and asked what they needed. I stood there for 10 minutes trying to get the persons attention as he took literally 4 peoples orders who showed up after me, and never said a thing to me despite trying to get his attention. I've never had an experience like this before. I guess if you are white or don't speak spanish they don't want you in the store ? This is the only conclusion I can come to. I walked in hoping for some tasty authentic salsa and maybe a couple pounds of carne asada. I was never even spoken to so I walked out of the store and bought nothing. read more
